I've just been to Butlins.. Now I need a Holiday!

Advantages: Great fun for kids...Nice food and plenty of it!
Disadvantages: Very noisy, crowded lots of queues and kids everywhere.

My week at Butlins: I have some lovely memories of Butlins Skegness and Clacton as a child, I also enjoyed staying at Butlins Skegness, Minehead, and the Butlins hotel in Brighton and Margate later in life when my children were growing up. Prior to this latest holiday I hadn't been to Butlins for about 15 years. The last time being when my oldest grandson was a toddler?. We found the accommodation very shabby and not very clean (so we never went back again) That is until this year when my mum wanted to go away somewhere in England with us. We decided to see just how many things had changed at some of the better known Holiday camps over the years. Butlins at Bognor Regis - good for entertainment

Advantages: It was fairly close to where we live
Disadvantages: too noisy

However I have been very pleasantly surprised indeed. At the beginning of the year I decided to save the tokens from the Daily Express newspaper for a short break to a choice of venues around the South Coast. Butlins - Have a sp(l)end-id time

Advantages: In this Country
Disadvantages: Could work out expensive

...A few weeks ago we took a short break to Butlins, Minehead, the main reason why we chose Butlins was that the Nick Jr live show was visiting and as our nearly 4 year old daughter loves Dora the Explorer, Diego and the Wonder Pets, all from the Nick Jr channel we knew she would love seeing them. Butlins now only have 3 holiday centres within England, one at Bognor Regis, a second in Skegness and lastly Minehead. Minehead is located on the South West coast of England, about 30 miles off the M5, Junction 25. For us Skegness would be a lot closer but we went for 5 days at the end of September beginning of October and thought the weather might be a bit warmer down south compared to going north. Review of Butlins Resort, Minehead

Butlins is great for families

Advantages: Variety of activities and value for money
Disadvantages: really can't think of any

...Just returned from a 2 day stay at Bognor Butlins with wife and two children aged 10 and 12. Bought super saver pass on top for £10 which pays for a cinema ticket ( choice of the latest films), a proper bowling game, go karts and the adventure golf. This is very good value considering the price of cinema/bowling where I live. When you add in the splash water park ( how many of these are there around) and the evening entertainment ( we saw Circus Hilarious which was a first class show) it was worth the price. We bought a family leisure pass for £129 which is a day visitor pass valid for a year until 11pm as we live about a 90 minute drive away and stayed at the travelodge overnight. We had a barbecue on the beach which is directly opposite the entrance on the first day and Papa Johns Buffet on the second day which is good value and imo...

Butlins, Minehead - Cheap and cheerful

Advantages: good for kids, keeps them entertained, therefore keeps you happy!
Disadvantages: chalets are a bit tatty

The reason for this is because the longer you leave it the better the deal you get. Butlins offer some fabulous deals for late availability. Our break from Monday to Friday half board for 2 adults and 2 children worked out at £340.00. Bookings can be made direct through Butlins or through your travel agent. You can also make travels arrangements by coach through Butlins and it can be cheaper than taking your car. Butlins send confirmation through the post about 4 weeks before departure. This will show accommodation details and your check in desk number. Checking in You can check in on arrival from 4.00pm. They have moved the check in...

  Sexy weekend or family fun....Butlins have it all

Advantages: A quick and convenient short break, lots of fun and plenty for your money.
Disadvantages: Self catering is an expensive alternative if you eat on the camp.

Great family fun at Butlins Minehead

...We booked our holiday to Butlins through the sun newspaper using one of those holidays from just £9.50 per person with the additional charge of £60 which covers entertainment passes and bed linen etc, it cost us a total of £98 for 5 days (mon - fri) - this was two adults and two children and a baby sneaked in for free. We were allocated a standard two beroomed apartment which you can upgrade before the start of your holiday if you wish but we didn't and our booking in time was 4pm on the day of arrival. The Site Minehead was well signposted from the motorway and butlins was signposted from within about 5 miles although to be honest you spot it miles away. There were two car parks although most people seem to get sent to the north car park which is just a little further along the sea front, these are monitored by security guards...

Butlins Minehead...It Rocks.

Advantages: Great fun, lots to do, well themed, brilliant location, very atmospheric
Disadvantages: Expensive on site, get fat from all the drinking and junk food.

...Now, this review of Butlins Minehead, despite it being advertised as a family holiday complex, would probably appeal more to 18year olds and people round that age region, "young adults", due to the nature of my party and our activities. This in itself shows the versatility of the place, it caters for pretty much everyone and a fantastic time can be had by all. I went to Butlins Minehead for 7 nights during July of 2004. I was 17 at the time, and I went with 9 lads (one of which is my boyfriend) who were all 18 (I'm not a tomboy, I just really get on with my boyfriend's mates ;)). Butlins: how many chavs can you fit in a tent?

...I had never been to a Butlins resort before, so when my husband found a great deal on the internet, we thought why not, looks like fun and booked for 4 days in May, half board for the bargain price of £99 for both of us. Shortly after booking, we had a phone call from butlins offering to upgrade our accomodation to silver for a small charge, which means we would get a shower and also maid service. We chose to do this. After looking forward to our trip for ages, the day finally came and we arrived in Bognor, and after a walk around the "fantastic" seaside town (i wish i could type with sarcasm!) we finally arrived at the gates of chav hell.
