...The Sanctuary Body Butter. The Sanctuary began as a Spa in Covent Garden over 30 years ago. Their philosophy is all about providing the time, space and expertise for women to renew that glow. I've never been to the Spa but friends have been and they do say that it is a wonderful experience and definitely a very upmarket product. The Sanctuary beauty products were produced in 1998. Customers had been wanting to take the spa experience home with them without needing a therapist or special equipment so they came up with the idea of selling their products. ...A few years ago a friend of mine bought me a gift set from The Body Shop for Christmas and amongst the items contained therein was a pot of body butter. I really wasn?t expecting to like it at all; from the term ?body butter? I expected it to be really greasy and oily. I was quite wrong and have been hooked ever since! The one I am currently using is the Satsuma Body Butter which normally retails at £12.20 for a pot containing 200ml although there is an offer on at the moment reducing the price by 20% so it is only £9.76. If you do like Body Shop products it is worth keeping your eyes open during the year as they often have special offers so it is worth stocking up when things are cheaper. ...I was bought this as a gift pack for my birthday and I really enjoy using it. What I love about this body butter is the smell. I love fruity smelling products especially if they smell good enough to eat and this one certainly does! It smells quite like strawberry ice cream and is a very rich smell. It's texture is very thick just like butter! So very well named! It isn't gooey like I expected but very thick and solid, I vuirtually have to dig my nails in to get it out! Once I apply it to my skin it's like butter in respect that the warmer it gets the easier it is to rub in. It then moisturises my skin and makes it feel so soft and smooth afterwards it's lush. Afterwards my skin is left smelling really nice and is very soft to touch. i really do like the effect it has. What I don't like about this is the price...

...I have been using 'Palmers Cocoa Butter' on and off for many years. Palmers Cocoa Butter retails for about £4 - £4.99 for the 270g pack. I buy mine at the local beauty shop and have also bought it in Superdrug previously.. It comes in a large white opaque round jar with a white screw top cover with the words 'Palmer's' in an orange caption and the 'Cocoa Butter Formula' in white letters with a brown caption box.. The rest of the jar has words 'with Vitamin E' and 'Heals & Softens rough, Dry skin' and 'Smoothes Marks & Scars' on the front. The product itself is a dark cream (almost yellow) body butter with a smooth feel. Shea Butter

Advantages: Moisturises well, fair trade product

...The Body Shop is a brand which I like because it is against animal testing. Furthermore it prides itself on 'community trade' programs, which is better know as fair trade. Overall they come across as a rather ethical company who are respectful of the planet in general, even aiming to source organic products in it's newer ranges. They also try to obtain all their ingredients using methods which are not harmful to the enviroment. I have just finished using this body butter after receiving it free with an issue of Marie Clare. Usually the Body Shop body butters retail at around £12 so I have never picked this one out because I think if I am going to pay that much, I want one that smells of Mango or something!
