...Kings Of Leon, Only by the Night This is one of my favourite albums by one of my favourite bands. In this review I will try to tell you as much as I can about both the album and the band, to help you learn more about both, and to help you make the best buying decision. Who are the Kings of Leon? The Kings of Leon are an orginal, unique, alternative rock band from Tennesse. The band is made up of three brothers and their cousin, and they named their band 'Leon', as it is the name of both their grandfather and their father. The singer is called Kaleb (I think this is how you spell it). He is a really unique distingable voice. I think he is a really good, powerful singer. Only By The Night!

Advantages: Unique, Great Songs, Brilliant Band, Just Everything About The Album
Disadvantages: None

...After hearing nothing but rave reviews about this album from pretty much everyone I know I thought Id give it a listen (even though this isnt really my type of music) and tell everyone what I thought about it, and now Ive become another huge fan!! So much so I even went out and brought their previous albums just to see if they were as good. Only By The Night is the fourth studio album by the american rock band The Kings Of Leon the album since it has been released has been number 1 in 10 countries and has even won two Brit Awards, the two tracks from the album that have already been released were absolutley amazing hits and "Sex On Fire" reached number and and "Use Somebody" hit the second spot. This is their highest selling album out of the four and they have just got better and better every time, I hope they keep on making music...

...Kings Of Leon: Only By Night Kings of Leon are a great band, I love their work, They are from Nashville in Tennessee and formed in 2000<[Thanks to the guy who pointed out my error i corrected it:)] Their name is based around their Father and Grandfather, They were both known as Leon. Only By The Night...also suitable for daytime listening

Advantages: Strong lyrics. Good Singles. Not one what I would call weak track.
Disadvantages: None that I can think of.

...The fourth album and so far most commercial release by Kings of Leon. As soon as I heard "Sex On Fire" on the radio for the first time I immediately thought they had targetted a new audience in an attempt to sell more records. I think the fact that the track became their first UK number one single proves my point as they had not even had a top 10 single previously. This is in no way a criticism as this is a fabulous album crammed full with brilliant tracks from the atmospheric "Closer" right through to "Cold Desert". "Sex On Fire" had a lot of my friends talking about what a great track it was as soon as it was released, not something that often happens. It's a track that always seems to get the party going when played on a night out even now and it is several months since it came out. In my opinion "Use Somebody" is...

Advantages: Outstanding vocals, excellent songcraft
Disadvantages: Die hard K.O.L fans must be tired of everyone jumping on their bandwagon!

...I first heard this album when travelling down to the Bristol Thekla for a gig with my own band. Please take my word for it when I say that for the four of us in the band to all unanimously agree on something, (not just musically) is a rare thing. This is by no means necessarily a bad thing by the way. But which way did we sway? I am dissapointed to say that we all thought this album was class. Dissapointed because for all the bands that we all listen to, it had to be Kings Of Leon to be the ones to unite us in opinion. A lot of K.O.L. connoisseurs have criticised the very obvious shift in the bands tone. The unruly and raucous pace and voice of Aha Shake Heartbreak has been replaced by a much more considered and musical peice of work. KINGS OF LEON - ONLY BY THE NIGHT

Advantages: Mainly amazing tracks, great band of 3 brothers and a cousin
Disadvantages: Flawless

...The first time I listened to this album I was quite literally blown away. This is one great CD, legendary you could say. It includes the two famous tracks "Sex On Fire" and Use Somebody" however there are two tracks on there that caught my eye. They are called Cold Desert and Closer, these tracks are fairly less known by others than the one's above. However if, like myself, you are a chillout person then I highly reccomend listening to these tracks. Also the track Revelry caught my attention, there's quite a catchy beat and the lyrics are meaningful, just as the tracks "Closer" and "Cold Desert" are, they are very deep and meaningful lyrics. This is the latest album they have released so fasr, I'm not to know if there's another one on the way yet but I ave high hopes there will be. They are an amazing band and thet just keep on improving...

Advantages: Based on a true story, lovely scenery
Disadvantages: Largely filmed at night, a bit boring

...Following a plan to kidnap a German Commander of the island of Crete (Crete was occupied by the Germans during the Second World War) and deliver him to Cairo, two British Intelligence officers, Major Patrick Leigh Fermor and Captain W Stanley Moss, join up with Cretan supporters to carry out the kidnap. As the Commander, Major General Kreipe, is closely guarded by his men at all times, this is no easy task. However, all goes according to plan and the men kidnap Kreipe with very little difficulty. Then comes the difficult bit. They have to somehow smuggle him across the island under cover of the dark without being discovered. Will they be successful in their plan to embarrass the Germans? ...Kings of Leon are a four piece rock band originating from Tennessee in the United States. They consist of three brothers and a cousin. They have had three full studio albums prior to this in the shops, but none of them have reached the magnitude of Only By The Night. There style of music in previous albums is very Bob Dylan influenced despite being a rocky-bluesy album and works well for them. They had limited chart success with their first two albums, the best being the sing 'the bucket' which entered the top 20. Then came Because of the Times, this went straight to no.1 in the UK album charts. It was a fantastic album which did well despite the Kings of Leon yet to find their true sound. Night Fall by Nelson Demille

Advantages: John Corey is a wryly amusing character with plenty of clever lines. The theory surrounding a real-life event raises some fascinating questions.
Disadvantages: The ending was a major disappointment to me.
