The C-Class Experience
Advantages: All the comfort of a Mercedes with the performance and control of top of the range exec
Disadvantages: Every features costs you money..if you have to pay BIK tax then you will be hurt by the CO2 levels
...As a driver of the C220 CDI Sport Auto (08) model I have to openly admit that this vehicle surpasses any of its rivals. As an employee of a fleet management company I have the benefit of being able to test drive most prestige vehicles and where the BMW 320 and Audi A4 finish the C220 CDI Sport is just beginning!
Where to start... well from a purely astethic point of view the C-Class is a joy to behold. With a high specification sports body kit and 18" AMG alloy wheels the C220 CDI Sport is not only ideal for executive drivers but is also a stylish vehicle which appeals to almost any driver.
Whilst the appearance of the vehicle is fantastic the drive is what really had me. Fast, reliable, and comfortable are just a few words to describe the C220 CDI Sport, but in addition to this the vehicle is an animal. When compared wiht the BMW...

Expensive Car but Cheap Feeling
Advantages: Good interior
Disadvantages: Gas guzzler!
...of different automobiles that were available to us. They included Volvos, Fords and of course the Mercedes. We were offered a more powerful C180, or the better C200K.
What does that K mean?…
Now you’re all thinking that K means something posh. I do know that it is some engine bit, but it’s purpose is unknown to me. It is probably some wonderful device which will allow you to alter the note produced by the horn to create festive jingles with it…
That K stands for Kompressor. Now I am no car technical guy, so I can’t tell you all sorts of amazing facts about horsepower. But I can tell you about how comfy the seat is – that is more my league. To me, Kompressor means it’s got a nice big juicy engine…
However, when driving, you can hear the Kompressor spreading its magic as it roars away in its...

Unreliability
Advantages: Some good accessories, comfortable ride
Disadvantages: Poor reliability, expensive servicing, disgraceful aftercare
...I own a 2002 (52 plate) Mercedes, C200, Avantgarde, Kompressor and feel I must let you know (the public) about the vehicle I bought. I am not a "boy racer" but a sixty year old male who has never experienced such unreliability in 40 years of driving with the more common cars (Fords, Vauxhalls etc.).
This car was a 6 month old demonstrator with 7,500 miles on the clock and I paid £ 21,500 for it in 2003. It required a replacement CD player and wing mirror (whilst in warranty). Whilst it was in warranty I also complained about the noise coming from the engine but was told there was nothing wrong with it. Since 55,000 miles it has needed:
1) A new mass air flow sensor for the engine (a static component)
2) A new cylinder head gasket (a static component)
3) Another new wing mirror (due to defective wiring for the indicator)
4...

Cannibis Class C.
Advantages: Relaxation,escape from reality
Disadvantages: we dont know long term effects
...of complete madness.
Don't get me wrong I am not disagreeing with Cannabis I’m merely pointing out the, what ifs?
Perhaps this is not a shift in policy on drugs but maybe a coming of age for NEW LABOUR.
But lets face it loads of Conservatives have smoked the stuff and admitted it, some ROYAL MEMBERS of the royal family have smoked it too.
This is a major change in public policy.
So all of you spliffing away think that you will soon see cafes with a menu for the stuff?
Apparently not, The powers that be say that the drug is now a Class C drug putting it into the same category as anabolic steroids. Those caught selling it however are going to be punished with up to 14 years in prison, The idea is so that the police can focus on the harder drugs. I have asked myself how can we actually benefit from this risk.
Well I do...

Canon Powershot SX200 IS
Advantages: Lots of zoom, lots of pixels, sturdy
Disadvantages: No internal memory, flash pops up whether you want it to or not
...I bought this camera recently as I purchased a Canon EOS1000D DSLR and I wanted a compact digital with a large zoom for the times when I didn't feel like lugging the DSLR and all it's accessories around with me.
I'd looked around at other models, and I know that there are many other cameras that offer a much higher zoom, but I finally settled on this one for a number of reasons.
a) 12 million pixels. This is more than I'll probably ever need as it's very rare that I print anything above 8x10 but it was an upgrade on my previous digital compact.
b) 12x optical zoom. This is more than adequate for general photography, any more and I think you do probably need a tripod.
c) NB-5L Li-Ion Battery. This is just a personal preference but I prefer the rechargeable Li-Ion batteries. It's fairly cheap to buy a couple of spares and I...

Company car
Advantages: Comfort, dashboard, engine, build quality
Disadvantages: Badly thought out reverse gear on manual gearboxes
...seats for four adults even if the method of ingres for six footers into the back is far from graceful. The back seats fold back and the boot is spacious for a car of this size. You'll get far more suitcases in the back of a mondeo though.
Performance:
A Kompressor is a supercharger. The 180K is no rocket, but gets to 60 in about 9 1/2 seconds with 143BHP. Fast enough to be fun to drive as there is no turbo lag, but not fast enough to get me in trouble with the law. The engine will happily cruise at 90 from here until the end of time with hardly any cabin noise.
Handling:
The steering is precisely weighted and the response is very good, with little body roll. However, sometimes the steering is too light at low speeds which gives less feedback than I would like.
Fuel Consumption
Quite good, considering it's petrol and I don't try to...

Mercedes CLK 230 Kompressor Coupé
Advantages: A super stylish motor car
Disadvantages: Expensive
...the wondows, while the alternative, "Avantgarde" has black maple wood, and different (7-spoke) wheels.
The 230K engine can get a bit coarse at when pushed hard, but is super quiet when cruising, however, and the CLK does a fine job of minimising wind and road noise (205/55 R16 wheels).
The "K" stands for Kompressor, which is German for supercharger, where air is compressed before entering the cylinders by a system mechanically linked to the engine, so you get all the power, with none of teh "lag" associated with a turbo-charger.
The CLK is most at home on motorways, or nice A roads, where it feels as solid and and comfortable as a you would expect from a Mercedes.
The CLK, from the front, and actually the back, come to think of it, looks very much like a sleeker version of the big (old) E-class saloon, and I believe, looks a lot niver...

First class - it really is!
Advantages: Very comfy for newborns and toddlers.
Disadvantages: Hard to install rearward facing - but worth it!
...**Age group is birth to 3+**
I got the first class when pregnant with my first baby as I have MS and didn't think I could manage with seats that you take in and out of the car. I just wanted to take the baby and leave the seat behind!
You do have to have extra long seatbelts to fit the seat rearward facing and have quite a bit of room between the front seats. We had a Mondeo so it fitted with no problems at all.
It is quite hard work to get strapped in correctly when it is rearward facing but then you don't have to take it out again so it's worth the effort. Due to this I gave it an easy rating for installation. It is very easy to fit forward facing.
When our baby was first born she was quite tiny (6.5lb) and the newborn insert supported her very well. We did at first find the seatbelt annoying when taking the baby in...

MERCEDES C220 CDI HAS FLARE AND COMES ABOVE AVERAGE
Advantages: SMOOTH RIDE, HANDLES WELL , PRESTIGE BADGE
Disadvantages: NIGGLES CAN BE EXPENSIVE ,BUY THE FACELIFT MODEL
...When I purchased the Merc back in late summer I did a 200 mile round trip as the spec I was looking for at the right price could not be found in my town.I stumbled upon an Avantgarde 2001 y plate model with full stamped history at 80,000 miles on the clock and with the blue paintwork it was exactly what I was looking for at £4,800. It was cheaper than most of the first newer shape C-classes by about a grand so well worth the travel out up to Liverpool from a guy with a debt problem......hope hes got things sorted !!
Anyway, I had owned two A-CLASS Mercs and new what too expect from the larger C- class. The overall stance of the car always looked good with that Mercees badge popping up on the bonnet and I knew my nieghbours had a peek out of the curtains when I first parked it on the drive. This marque has always had an air of class...
