...There?s been a legion of digital cameras that have passed through my hands since they started to become a serious contender for 35mm?s domination of the amateur market. Going from memory, they?ve included Philips, Casio, Canon, Nikon and errr?..Nikon. Of course the last one, my first DSLR, a Nikon D70 was going to be the last; but then we all say that don?t we, lads?
What I really meant was ?the last for quite a while?.
LOOKS LIKE THE ?QUITE A WHILE? HAS EXPIRED
Then my daughter started making noises about a night-school class in photography, where the minimum kit requirement just so happened to be a DSLR, and I got to thinking about letting her have the D70 for a ?song?, whilst good ol? Dad treats himself to the later and much higher-specified D90.
Since I bought the D70 four or five years back, things have moved on apace...

Review of Nikon D90
Advantages: Excellent picture quality, lots of useful features, well designed controls, great kit lens Disadvantages: More expensive than some other DSLRs, quite big and heavy, limited movie mode
... How I made my choice
I recently bought the D90 to upgrade from my Olympus 560UZ bridge camera, so this is my first foray into DSLR photography. Most people starting in DSLR photography will opt for the cheaper D40, or the D60, D70 and D80. I am not particularly rich, and in the end chose the D90 because I didn't want to grow out of the smaller DSLR and have to buy a new body quickly. I have found that the prices of Nikon DSLRs haven't decreased significantly over the last 3 years, so I decided (maybe wrongly) that this option would save me money in the long run. I found that it is very important to go into a shop and hold the camera in your hands before making a choice. All the photography shop assistants said that the Canon series was just as good as the Nikons, but I discounted them because I didn't get on with the feel...

Review of Nikon D90
Advantages: May help someone else Disadvantages: very personal to me and difficult to write .

And he was wearing a suit ( rather than the usual hospital white coat ) and a smile .
To be honest , I wondered if by some mistake I had been put through as a private patient , but I now realise that this is the norm for the Breast Unit .
He was very quietly spoken , very matter of fact , and immediately put me at ease . He also used my Christian name and greeted me like a friend whom I had known for years .
He quickly checked the lump , sat down beside me , and told me exactly what would happen next .
" First we will do a mammogram and have a look at the results " .
My thoughts .. " Yeah , and how long will it take to get that appointment through "
Just then a young nurse popped her head around the door , smiled brightly and said " So , if you'd like to come with me...

Yes, chances are high I?m shortening my life, but I?m one of these people who believes that life is as long as it is, and I do expect to die one day. If this thing I enjoy immensely chops off 5 or so years from my existence, then so be it ? at least I have enjoyed the ride. What I do hate though is if I were to visit the doctor with something like an ingrowing toenail, you can bet your ass I?d be told it was caused by smoking!
3. CHOCOLATE - - Though I can actually, believe it or not, take or leave the stuff, there?s something deliciously decadent about lazing back on the sofa, slowly munching away on a Bounty Bar or gradually demolishing a box of Thornton?s Continental Selection. That dreamy creamy feeling which pervades one?s mouth as the chocolate softens and melts, is like...
...It was my first Ciao birthday on the 3rd of this month, which I didn't realise until some members pointed it out! I noticed that some users done a question and answer review, so I thought I'd mark this momentous occasion with the questions that the lovely ElizaF set. Sorry it's a bit late!
Here is a quick quote from ElizaF

...As a driver of the C220 CDI Sport Auto (08) model I have to openly admit that this vehicle surpasses any of its rivals. As an employee of a fleet management company I have the benefit of being able to test drive most prestige vehicles and where the BMW 320 and Audi A4 finish the C220 CDI Sport is just beginning!
Where to start... well from a purely astethic point of view the C-Class is a joy to behold. With a high specification sports body kit and 18" AMG alloy wheels the C220 CDI Sport is not only ideal for executive drivers but is also a stylish vehicle which appeals to almost any driver.
Whilst the appearance of the vehicle is fantastic the drive is what really had me. Fast, reliable, and comfortable are just a few words to describe the C220 CDI Sport, but in addition to this the vehicle is an animal. When compared wiht the BMW...

Review of Mercedes C 220 CDI
Advantages: Spacious, economical fuel consumption, looks good Disadvantages: High repair and maintenance bills, unreliable, doesn't look so good on the back of a tow truck!
...Management warning symbol lighting up for no apparant reason.
- Battery warning symbol lighting up for no apparant reason. (Battery replaced about 6 months earlier.)
All of the last electrical faults were looked at by a Citroen garage a few months' back and they run a diagnostic check on the car (for which I had to pay another bill for) only for it to come back clear and the mechanic just said 'it could be anything or nothing.' He claimed to have cleaned some pipe or other which he felt should resolve the problem but within the space of a fortnight the same warning lights were flashing up left, right and centre again! Their only real recommendation was that I consider buying a new Citroen! I don't think so, somehow! I'd rather throw my money down the drain (actually, that is pretty much what I have been doing with my C3.)
So, at long...

...Review of Tesco Effervescent Vitamin C. It?s the winter! And yes it?s inevitable that you or someone you know in the family will probably catch a cold have a virus, and let?s face it-with all that running around and partying we always do during the festive season we need to keep ourselves fit & healthy!
I am very conscious of mine and my husband?s health and like us to eat healthy and be fit. With busy lifestyles this is of course easier said than done. I myself like taking vitamin supplements as a boost.
I was advised by a health trainer to take Fish Oil supplements (being a woman), Echinacea for those times when you don?t feel that great, and Vitamin C for an immune system boost(especially at this time of year). I take a Fish oil supplement daily and an Echinacea or Vitamin C Effervescent tablet once a week. You can of course take...
Advantages: high quality images, great design, rugged yet light, good value, quick Disadvantages: auto modes can be dodgy in extreme lighting, only one control wheel, bad live view
...Canon has for a long time been renowned for its high quality cameras with superb image quality and good value for money.
The Canon EOS 450D is no exception: rugged build, high quality images from Canon's renowned CMOS sensor, and good battery life and usability all contribute to the making of an excellent entry lever DSLR camera.
In terms of picture quality, I feel Canon is unrivalled, and the 450D upholds this reputation. The 12.2MP and CMOS sensor produce excellent results in all light conditions. In bright light, the Canon has no issues sensoring quickly and almost always producing a result in auto and manual modes. The meter is swift and reliable, producing results that are frequently bettered by knowledge of the manual mode and histogram, but nevertheless excellent.
The images from low light situations are also very good...

Review of Canon EOS 450D
Advantages: Extremely easy to use, fantastic picture quality, long battery life. Disadvantages: I haven't found any!
...Introduction
I bought the Canon EOS 450D a couple of months ago as my first SLR - and i can honestly say its an absolute pleasure to use. For someone like me who is a total novice in photography terms (but very willing to learn!) this camera is superb.
Ease of use
My friend and I researched SLR cameras for hours to try to find a camera for me. I can only be described as a beginner but I wanted to take the plunge and do some 'real' photography. The EOS 450D seemed to have everything I was looking for - and it is everything I was looking for. It is a very light, yet sturdy camera that fits comfortably in my hands. The large LCD screen is very sharp which is especially useful when you are trying to change settings, and i was surprised by how quickly i learned what all of the buttons did and also how quickly i was able to take a half decent...
