SE C905: The phone that looks a lot like a camera
Advantages: Unbeatable camera, smooth operating system, good range of features
Disadvantages: Expensive, niggles stop it from being a world beater
...The Sony Ericsson C905 is the latest in the long line of Cybershot phones, fabled for their apparently ability to pack in more technology to their cameras than any other make of phone. When I got hold of one of these in March 2008 it was an absolutely top end phone that you could only get for free on high tariffs, and cost an arm and a leg if you decide to opt for it on Pay As You Go. Six months down the line it has become slightly more affordable, but is still one of the more expensive phones out there. So for a phone that promises so much and costs so much more, is it worth it?
WHY I DECIDED TO GET ONE
My 18 month contract with Orange had expired, and after reading various articles on getting the best retention deal (otherwise known as making the phone company fight to keep you as a customer) I had some significant...

C905 with its pros and cons
Advantages: Excellent phone - ticks all boxes
Disadvantages: prone to a wobbly slide
...Last year i heard a rumour about the C905 coming out with its 8.1 mp camera...which for me was the selling point. I decided to upgrade early, even though this meant me paying £100 plus VAT (17.5% at the time) i thought it would be well worth it. The phone istelf is amazing, it looks nice, feels nice and the quality of the screen is immaculate. I opted for the black as this is a matt finish, the silver is more shining and very light in colour. The camera which is probably its selling point has no faults whatsoever. Im still unsure of how to use the Wifi, so if buying this phone i would recomend you ask the sales assistant as ive now realised i should have!
The only problem i had with this phone...and sadly one i had 3 times in a row...is that the microphone is prone to going bust. It would all of a sudden just go quiet and you would...

SONY ERICSSON C905
Advantages: STYLISH SLIDE, QUALITY CAMERA
Disadvantages: fairly heavey, thick sides
...My second sony ericsson phone!! The SONY ERICSSON C905 which i have had since december 2008 and so far so good! Best features are as follows:
* 8.1 megapixel camera *
* built in xenon flash *
* face detection *
* wi-fi *
* auto rotate *
* media player *
* track ID *
* Bluetooth *
* Games *
* GPS *
* Slide *
* video *
Which are to name a few! The phone also includes CALENDAR thats does pretty much what it says giving you the days, months and year ect, also enabling you to put in reminders. THEMES are also included (which are pretty dudey by the way) PODCASTS so you can put a series of digital files on your phone which i find quite useful to record myself (revising for school work ) outloud and play it back over and over again, WORLD CLOCK 3D that...

The C905 is a better Camera than it is phone!
Advantages: Excellent Camera
Disadvantages: Battery Life
...I am one of these rare people who buys a mobile phone in order to be able to stay in touch with friends and colleagues. I do not buy it because it's THE phone of the moment or because it has thousands of functions enabling me play music, games etc. I buy a phone to talk to people, send text messages to my kids (kids do not seem to know how to talk any more) and on this occasion to double up as a portable camera. My main reason for purchasing the C905 was for the Camera. The 8.1 megapixel was the phones USP; I assumed that being a phone, the talking and texting functions would be adequate.
The phone looks and feels ok and whilst some may find it a bit on the large side I am coming from a Nokia Navigator so it feels quite small. The slide and the buttons are easy to use and even my little fat fingers are able to send texts...

Cybershot hits the mark.
Advantages: Superb camera, wide ralnge of features, good for calls and texting.
Disadvantages: Still the age old slide phone issue. Battery life varies with use.
...After a string of truly dreadful phones from LG I was more than happy to return to old faithful Sony Ericsson. You know what are you are getting with Sony and despite being unimpressed by my wife's Sony K850i I fell in love with my C905 from the minute it landed on my doorstep.
This is a phone that goes back to basics. After owning numerous flawed touch screen or semi-touch screen devices it is an absolute joy to get back to some good old fashioned buttons. Not a single touch screen function in sight (unlike the weird hybrid that is my wife's K850) and the phone is all the better for it. This is a sturdy, weighty beast of a phone and lacks the style of many of Sony and it's competitors other efforts. Despite being a slide phone it is quite definitely a brick and is one of the heavier phones I have owned. However, what it sacrifices...

Great phone, but beware some bad examples!
Advantages: Good looking, good features, great battery time.
Disadvantages: Some unreliable examples out there
...I purchased the C905 after having a Sony Ericsson Xperia. Depending on how well you know your Sony Ericssons, you will know that they are two completely different phones. I found the Xperia cumbersom and didn't meet my needs in terms of imaging. So, I decided to purchase a C905.
The handset itself looks good. There are a lot of phones out there that I think are quite functional, but lack the looks. Whilst it's not the most mind-blowing phone looks-wise, I do think it's above average in that area. It doesn't look cheap, that's for certain. The materials used are comfortable, and pleasant to hold. The sliding mechanism is spring assisted, and slides smoothly. The phone, whilst it looks a bit bulky, is actually a good size, and fits comfortably in your pocket.
In terms of input, this can be done via the soft keys, the D...
