...I was introduced to the cafe del mar series by a friend back in 1995, what a long time ago! I have never been to the famed cafe in Ibiza, but have purchased all the volumes in this series upto Vol 6. I stopped here because the man that puts them togther stopped, there are others and i'm sure they are good, but they won't be as good as this! Jose Padilla is the master mind behind volumes 1-6, he has such a good understanding of music and the way that it can influence moods and feelings and his selections on the cds are outstanding. I will review each of the 6 as I get the time, but here we will deal with the first... There are 12 tracks on the cd, I think you can still by it in the shops but remeber that it is now 10 years old!! Café Del Mar. Wave the sun goodbye...til tomorrow.

Advantages: perfect spot to watch the sunset

...Sitting on the rocks, sipping a drink, the only noise is from the bar behind playing tranquil and serene music, watching the sun slowly disappear below the sea. Its beautiful. A trip to Ibiza isn't complete with out a visit to San Antonios sunset strip in the bay of Calo des Moro. Café del mar was built in the 1980s. Is is now joined by Mambo, Savannah and Kanya at al but Café Del Mar is still the most renowned. Cafe del mar....Volume 6

Advantages: Oh my, too many to list.
Disadvantages: Absolutly none.

...an array of styles. I am not sure about the availability of this cd, but if you cant find it new, im sure it will be found secondhand somewhere like Ebay. If you like music, good music that enters your soul, then you buy at least a couple of cd's from the series. Cafe del mar vaolume 3.

Advantages: Simply fantastic
Disadvantages: none.

...Well i'm back reviewing the Cafe del mar series as promised, this time I am dealing with volume 3. This cd was put together during the summer of 1996, in Ibiza at the Cafe del mar, Which for any one that doesn't know, is a world famous cafe-cum-club known for its chill-out themes and generally having a nice time, relaxing and being relaxed. Its a haven for taking time out at, and many a clubber would have visited here during their stay in Ibiza. As you have come to expect, there is a wide mix of music on these cd's, on this volume though, there is nothing wildly different, the tracks seem to flow into one another, Im not sure if this realy works, all the other compilations have something different on them that wakes you up and makes you sit up and listen, but here there is none of that, you realy could fall to sleep listening to it...

Hesperia Del Mar

Advantages: Great location & cheap
Disadvantages: Not that many food places around

...I visited Barcelona this July and stayed at the Hotel Hesperia Del Mar for five nights with 3 other friends and I have to honestly say we all loved it! The hotel price which we got from expedia was one of the most competitive around and we were pleasantly surprised when we got to the hotel, for how cheap the hotel was it was quite nice. It cost for five night my share was 145 so the entire room cost was 290. The hotel reception staff were the highlight of the hotel. They are very friendly, warm and always willing to help! The rooms were standard and offered everything we needed. The bathroom was fully equipped with a shower, toilet, bidet and sink with large mirror. The bedroom consisted of 2 single beds and were comfy. There is air conditioning so we never felt hot and flustered in the room unless we turned it off and forgot to put it...

Mambo No. 1

Advantages: Views, Music, People
Disadvantages: Few... Clouds?

...the first there in the 1980s, followed soon after by Café Mambo. Savannah came in the Mid-90s, and has just celebrated its tenth anniversary. While Café del Mar's reputation is almost solely (excuse pun) based on the sun, Mambo plays host to, well, a host of Radio1 DJs looking for an excuse for a holiday on the white isle, and the BBC station often broadcasts live from the bar; play your cards right and you might get on the radio! I visited Café Mambo on our final night in Ibiza, waiting for a late plane, for a quick bite to eat and a drink. More by luck than judgement, we arrived at the perfect time; 2 hours before the sunset, there were few people there and we were easily able to get two adjacent tables for our party of nine. Cafe Nero

Advantages: Authentic Coffee, Clean, tidy premises, 1st class ambience and atmosphere
Disadvantages: Food range is not so great value.

...Caffe Nero is a leading Coffee store Retail Outlet located in many high street, town center, and Airport Lounge venues across England, wales and Scotland. The company sells, Coffee as its main product. Also they stock Tea, cold refreshments, panini sandwiches, cookies, crisps, Chocolates, cakes, and sweets. What I find that makes cafe nero different to other coffee Retail Outlet's is almost a combination of excellent Coffee, and a high standard of Customer Service. The Music in the background of the store is subtle and light. This allows people to read a newspaper, to socialise with friends, family, or to enjoy a relaxing cup of Coffee in relative peace and quiet. The Mighty Mars Bar

Advantages: Classic chocolate bar
Disadvantages: They changed the nougat filling

...this in a minute. The Mars Bar consists of three components: 1. The chocolate: Light brown, this covers the entire bar. The top has a thicker, rippled pattern to it marking little diamond shapes. The edges of the bar are smooth and thinner and the bottom is imprinted with little fancy squigles. Mars Chocolate has its own unique taste. It isn't creamy and doesn't melt quickly in your mouth; it requires chewing first to relase the sweet coco flavour (or by dipping it in tea first!). It's not the best tasting chocolate which is proberly why Mars have never introduced a plain block of it's own chocolate (like Cadbury with the Dairy Milk bar or Nestle with the Yorkie Bar). Tunes for life 4 - One step higher

Advantages: Some astoundingly moving tracks, unbeatable for its chill value
Disadvantages: A little inaccessible at times

** The Chameleon Café **

Advantages: Excellent atmosphere, Comfortable seating, great low price food, friendly staff.
Disadvantages: Slow service, expensive drinks.

...great but also makes the inside look bigger then it actually is. When you walk inside the ?L? shaped design is quite interesting and lets you seclude yourself away if you want to. With 2 large brown worn sofas (which I must say you can?t get up from because they are so comfortable!) and brown suede colored booths, large wooden tables, small 2 seated tables and low tables with leather type blocks as seats it really is a complete chill out area. All the materials in the café are there to catch your senses. The walls are covered in squares of brown and big suede? you can?t help but run your hands across the wall! They also have relatively random pieces of art on the walls, one being a natural wood model of a Deer?s head, where you can use the antlers to hang up your coat!
