Disadvantages: More adventurous dishes probably best avoided

...On a recent trip back to my old university town I was dining alone and did not want to look too sad and pathetic. Chain restaurants are not normally my thing but Cafe Rouge is rather different in its style: the decor is usually pleasant, food reliable, and I wanted to eat something healthy which ruled out pub food or the Eraina, the Greek taverna of my youth which I would normally have headed for. Cafe Rouge is opposite St John's College and next to the Baron of Beef pub, which has been completely destroyed by refurbishers. Cafe Rouge - take it or leave it

Advantages: Nice atmosphere, good location
Disadvantages: Average food, pricey

...For my first visit to Cafe Roug, my wife said we should go to the Salford Quays outlet. So, with Tesco vouchers in hand, we made our way there last Saturday. We were early enough to not have to book and got a nice central table. The service was quick and sort of friendly. I am prepared to stand corrected on this one, we were both unconvinced that, despite their French accents, the majority of staff are no more French than myself. The menu is varied although if you are a strict vegetarian, who does not eat fish, you will be stumped apart from one dish. I wouldn't say there was a huge choice but it is ample with four or five options within the main categories of fish, salad and steaks. ...After a tough day's shopping with my beautiful girlfriend we found ourselves at Blue Rinse just by the Corn Exchange having entirely missed lunch due to the rigours of finding jumper dresses in this seasons new collections. After a couple of minutes discussion we decided that we would try Cafe Rouge, since I had been to the one in St John's Wood in London some years before and it was pretty good. We were greeted immediately by a smiling waitress who asked where we would like to sit and offered us the choice of a pair of tables. Cafe Rouge Cambridge - good food, good location

...The Cafe Rouge chain runs all around the country, with one in most towns. The Cambridge restaurant is in a scenic location, not far from the River Cam, on Bridge Street. The decor inside is nice, and there is normally a good atmosphere. The French-style cuisine is normally cooked to a high standard, and there is a fairly wide choice on the menu. Whilst some of the dishes can be slightly more pricey, they are fairly in line with similar chain restaurants, such as Bella Italia etc (around the £8-£10 mark for main meals). They also now offer Prix Fixe menus, where you can get 2 courses for £8.95 or 3 courses for £10.95, between 12pm and 5pm. ...We first went to a Café Rouge when we visited York in September 2009. The main reason was we had a GBP10 voucher that could be used in a few restaurants including Café Rouge. Café Rouge is a renowned French style chain of restaurants that opened its first outlet in 1989. Now it has over 90 across the UK. The one I visited in York is in the heart of the shopping area. It is approximately a 5-10 minute walk from York Minster as well as to Clifford's Tower and York Castle Museum. The external décor is quite rustic with a red theme. A few trips 2 Cafe Rouge and u'll be in the red!

...In Birmingham you have 2 choices if you want to sample the french delights Cafe Rouge has to offer. Recently, as the new Bullring shopping centre has been restyled and refurbished, a new Cafe Rouge has opened here. This is a great location and gives you the chance to see the bull ring by night and all lit up, which is quite pretty as far as Birmingham goes! The second older Cafe Rouge in Birmingham is located in Brindley Place, another prime location right beside the Birmingham and Worcester canal near Broad Street. Broad Street boasts a long stretch of bars, clubs, restaurants and other venues, so is a good place to go if you want to go out after. In both places the food quality and service is very similar so don't let that be a determining factor when chosing which one to visit. The food is delicious...

...My introduction to the Cafe Rouge chain of restaurants was in Chichester, and I still prefer its atmosphere to the larger one at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth. However, since I moved back to Southsea, it does make more sense for me to visit the Cafe Rouge in Gunwharf. I'd arranged to meet up with one of my sons late one Friday afternoon after we both finished work, and we decided to go for an early evening meal but didn't want to spend a fortune. Gunwharf Quays was within walking distance, and as it was around 5p.m., we found Cafe Rouge to be almost empty and had plenty of choice of tables. ...Christian Lacroix ~ Rouge ~ Eau De Parfum My local Avon representative gave me a sample of Christian Lacroix Rouge perfume to sample in September last year. I fell in love with the scent of the perfume almost instantly and decided to purchase a bottle of it; I love the scent that much that I have already polished off three bottles of it and have a fourth one on the way. The fragrance was launched in September 2007 in partnership with Avon; Avon currently sell Rouge for the price of £18 for a 50ml bottle. There is also a male version available too and this is called Noir which smells just as nice as the female version. As you can see from the picture at the top of this review the bottle of perfume is quite chunky and resembles a the shape of a tear drop and has a lovely chunky lid on top.
