Advantages: Tasty and flavoursome. Cheaper than some beers. Very drinkable!
Disadvantages: Can't buy it everywhere. Doesn't have a good reputation as a "style" of beer.

...I am a big advocate of Mild as a style of beer. Not enough pubs sell it and it is not as popular as it was in the early twentieth century. Even then it was considered to be an ?old man?s? drink and was shunned by the younger end of the market. Milds got the reputation of being unfashionable, weak and flavourless. Don?t get me wrong, some Milds can have less flavour, but some (despite being lower in alcohol content) are well worth a taste and often make a really nice accompaniment to a lunchtime meal. So when I see a Mild on sale I try to give it a try, and offer my support to this undervalued beer. Often I am disappointed and find them to be bland and characterless, but sometimes they are a real treat. Cain?s Dark Mild is a really good example of a Mild that falls into the latter category ? a fine Mild that was well worth risking...

...I took my 6 year old son on the weekly food shop with me in the half term holidays - big mistake! His little eyes lit up at the sight of all the goodies on Tescos shelves. When walking through the freezer section he noticed some McCain Micro Chips in the freezer and asked if he could have some as his best friend liked them! I'm not a fan of frozen chips as a whole but to keep him happy I threw a packet in the trolley. Each packet of Micro Chips is a small, black, rectangular cardboard box. The box has a perforated front which you rip open before you microwave them. When I opened the front up the chips looked quite cheap in appearence. The chips themselves are quite long and thinly cut. McCain Smiles - Perfect for a Fussy Eater

...My son at the moment is a very fussy eater and refuses to eat any sort of potato, but the one thing he does love is McCain Smiles. Packaging On the front of the red plastic packaging is a picture of a sunflower, when you look closely you can see that it is actually sunflower petals and in the middle is a smile which I think is very clever! When I took the smiles out of the bag they looked very pale in colour, they are round with of course a smiley face, there are holes for the eyes and a big smiley mouth. They are basically mashed poato made into the shape of a smiley face, and I think they are meant to be a fun alternative to chips. McCains Home Fries - a Chip off the Old Block

Advantages: Quite filling. Goes nicely with almost any meal. Rather moreish.
Disadvantages: Quite fattening. Take a longer time to cook than your standard chip.

...McCain is a name that is synonymous with teatime dinners. For decades they have been producing chips, vegetables and other potato based products, and have developed a reputation for high quality food. Having tasted their brand of Home Fries (which are considerably thicker than your standard chip), I can safely say that they uphold their reputation. The price may be a negative factor, at around £2 for a 1.5kg bag (although I have seen them around on special offers where the price has been £1). However, for the price, you do get good quality potatoes. The packaging is appealing. A royal blue bag with "Home Fries" written in bold red letters, above an appetising bowl of golden chips. Dry chips anyone? (McCain Micro Chips)

...McCain micro chips are in my opinion a classic going back to my Uni days and they have always featured in my life! Although I do admit the chips are not the best I have ever eaten but for 3 minutes in the microwave what do you expect! The box I have is made of cardboard and branded McCain Microchips on the front and name "crinkle" which is the type of chips I selected. Cleary advertised on the front of the box is that the product cooks within three minutes. The back of the box contains cooking instructions (basically microwave for three minutes), the box contains 100g of chips, storage instructions (keep frozen) and contact details (see the end of this review). Strangely there is no ingredients list or nutritional information provided so for the meantime this information should be sought from the contact details provided at the end...

...Had these for tea tonight with lasagne and peas, so thought I would tell you all what I thought of these. I went into the Co-Op in search of any old wedges and saw these were two for £2.50, I love a bargain so I thought, why not? These lightly spiced wedges are made by McCain and they are cook from frozen. To cook 500g of these you can either put them under the grill or in the oven. If you want to put them under the grill you should preheat it 5 minutes before and grill on medium heat for 12-14 minuted not forgetting to give them a little shake around!When they have reached a sort of Golden Brown colour, take them out and serve immediately. If however you want to cook these in the oven, simply cook for 18 minutes at 220C (425F) gas mark 7 and remove when golden brown. If you have a fan assisted oven you can reduce this...
