...This hotel is great if you want to be handy for all the local shops, It is located in the center of town, which can make it noisy depending on which side of the hotel your room is. The hotel itself had 180 rooms, every room has a balcony which either overlooks the swimming pool, or the street. When i stayed at this hotel in September 05 we had a room which overlooked the pool, and it was very quiet. On entering the hotel you will notice that it has recently been renovated, it has seperate areas within the reception area, you can sit in the large reception area and have a drink at the bar, or go into the large entertainment area, which has various artists performing on an evening, there is also a small area that is used when you want to read a paper or use the telephone, there is a reasonable sized...

Advantages: excellent central location
Disadvantages: views from rooms

...A fine basic city centre hotel, clean and functional. Helpful reception, restaurant and cleaning staff. Check in was not possible when we arrived at the hotel at noon, nor were we able to get a late check out when leaving. Excellently located across from one of the many side entrances to El Corte Ingles, five minutes trundle from the Airport Bus Stop in Placa Catalunya. Our room had a single bed added to make it a tripple, which was rather cramped, but with so much to see we did not spend much time there. The view from our room was into a courtyard and the back of buildings, however some rooms seemed to look onto other rooms across an air tunnel. Free internet access. A great hotel to flop back to after a long day sightseeing!...

...Having viewed this site prior to booking our holiday I decided that there's only one way really to find out, and that's to go!! Everyone's tastes and standards are different so read reviews but ultimately what is fantastic for one family may be a disappointment for another. Hotel; Very clean however VERY basic bedrooms, ours had a prison type metal bunk bed at the foot of two singles put together, reminisant from a scene of Porridge!!!! The whole hotel has either tiled or marble floors which was VERY noisy,even a fairy in slippers would have sounded like a herd of buffalo stampeding across the Sarangeti !! Had the rooms had carpets then this would of deadened some of the noise. Unfortunately our room was next to the stairwell so we heard all and sundry coming and going, and to add insult we overlooked the tarmac carpark rather...

Cala Vinas Hotel - a good safe holiday

Advantages: Right on the sea front, lots of activities, relaxing and sun!

...As a brief summary, the Hotel was easily worth its four stars for the rooms, pool, food and entertainment! Now read on if you wish to know more! At the beginning of August my girlfriend set off on our Holiday to Mallorca from Luton Airport, rather early in the morning - and arrived at the Hotel approximately 5 hours later. This was mainly due to the efficiency which we experienced at the airport and the private taxi that had been booked for us through our agency! It took approximately 20/30 minutes from the airport to the Hotel. Gran tinerfe my fave hotel!

Advantages: Christmas and new years great there

...I stayed at the 4 star Gran Tinerfe December 2006 for Christmas and New Year. Me my dad and brother had never being away for Christmas, which made us curious on what actually happens in a foreign country at Christmas time in a hotel. Christmas day we booked a gala meal which was like an 8 course meal I'm a fussy eater so I didn't really enjoy it as much as everyone else, but my dad loved it, there was duck and all the trimmings and they had alternative meals for vegetarians. On new years and Christmas I think we got free wine (let me know if I'm wrong) my memories pretty bad, but I must say new years was the best new year of my life! It was planned to perfection. We had our New Year gala meal and then the living room areas were set up with lots of booze etc and we were all giving party hats and other party treats in this goodie bag...

Advantages: Cheap, all inclusive, large bar area

...I have only completed 1 review and that was 6 years ago but as none have been done for this Hotel thought I would have another go, here it is: I took my partner and our 6 year old son for a cheap holiday during October 2006 half term, after looking at several deals we opted for an all inclusive here mainly because of the cost. Full cost less than £500 for the 3 of us, flights (with Ryan Air), transfers, all meals (buffet style), drinks (alcoholic as well as soft) etc. For those that are thinking all inclusive ties you to the Hotel all I would say is I have done every sort of holiday during the last 10 years and been lucky enough to go away 3 or more times a year from 5* AI to 2* SC, I'll try anything once. ...I have just got back from a weeks holiday in Majorca. Where, as you may have guessed, I stayed in the Hotel Samoa. The room itself is very average. It was medium sized with a double bed, wardrobe, television and a bathroom. The bed was a bit unusual - it was actually two normal beds pushed together. This was somewhat alarming on the first night when me and my boyfriend repeatedly rolled into the middle and had it collapse underneath us. Yes, it doesn't just fall apart slowly - if you go near the middle and dumps you on the floor, which is horrifying the first time! The bed covers feel somewhat like shower curtains, but once you get used to them and train your body to stay on one side it's fine. The TV is free, you can pay for a remote but really you can do it by yourself by getting up easily enough. It has two english channels...

Advantages: Family Hotel Great adult and Kids enertainment, pool and next to 2 beaches. everything youll ever
Disadvantages: NONE!

...fish with a fresh whole salmon as a fantastic centre piece for you to take what you want off! There is plenty to choose from! If you decide not to eat in the restuarant then there are plenty of nice eateries close by, the public resturant of the hotel is downstairs on the front and offers a very good meal at amazing prices. there is also a restuarant called Yates on the walk towards Cala Bona (walking with the sea to your right). Another fine diner is in the same direction called Snoddys bar. these places are great and well priced. On at the harbour i would also recommened The Rope and Anchor. likewise there are nice places to eat in the other direction towards Cala Millor. If you walk around and the ones that look nice are! all of them! Thompson do most of the package holidays here and my brother in law just paid £415 for a week bed...

Hotel Gran Melia Fenix in Madrid

Advantages: Central madrid and very good service

...This hotel is fantastic....but it should be at the price! I paid Euros 280 for a double bedded room with single occupancy on July 22nd. The hotel claims to be central and it is if Central means the terminal for the bus from the airport! But actually it is about two miles North of the city centre so be prepared to take a taxi for the real centre of Madrid from the hotel. I arrived at Madrid Barajas airport and decided to take a taxi. There is a bus advertised that stops outside the hotel but I am lazy! However I was ripped off! Officially it should cost about 15 Euros from the airport. I know because a colleague of mine took the same ride only one day earlier. As I work for a non-profit organisation my remit was to ensure that my accommodation was not overly expensive - no easy task, as well as being one of the official conference hotels. By booking on Activehotels.com I was able to get a single room for EUR 91 (ca. GBP 63) a night ? coming out at just under EUR 98 (ca GBP 70) a night including the mandatory sales tax.
