...My usual experience with BT has been that they find new and inventive ways of ripping me off and, wherever possible, making life just that much more difficult into the bargain (though when I say bargain, obviously this bears no relation to any BT products). A Must For Every Home

Advantages: Can see who is calling when the phone is ringing, saves you from dialing 1471.

...I bought the Caller Display device from BT a year or so ago. I bought it when I received a leaflet with my telephone bill advertising such devices. It only cost me a few pounds and I think it has been worth every penny. It's a small device that plugs in between your phone socket and your phone. It plugs into the socket on the wall and the phone plugs into the device. Basically what is does is displays the most recent caller. Although we have the facility to dial 1471, this device allows you to see who is calling, while it is ringing, before you pick up the phone. So, if you wish, you can decide whether or not you want to answer the call. I find thid device most useful if you are taking a 'sicky' and don't want your boss to find out. If you know he's calling you can put on the voice before you answer the call, all prepared. Well...

Never miss a call

Advantages: Handy tool

...I got this Caller Display to keep track of my calls. I bought this after a friend recommended it. The Caller Display is quite compact and doesnt take much space. Very easy to set up and the display on the Screen is quite good. The well lit background and good size fonts makes it easy for reading. This has a capacity of storing the last 40 calls and when the limit is reached the 1st call gets deleted. There is a Clock and allows for alarms to be set. The alarm tone is good as well. The date setting on the display displays the Date along with the time. The main function of Displaying Calling Number is excellent. IT displays the calling number and if not answered, stores the numbers. When I come in the evening, it displays all the incoming calls including the calls whose numbers were not displayed. Great Budget Caller Display Unit

Advantages: Simple to use, clear display and cheap
Disadvantages: none considering price

...I wanted to get a Caller Display unit for a while as we'd been getting a few cold callers. At £9.99 from Currys (Dixons and The Link) the Telcom 630 seemed a cheap way of trying out BTs Caller Display service. This included the unit and an offer for 3 months Free subscription to 2 BT select services and Bt Call Minder. I called up the 0800 no in the pack that you have to call to take advantage of the select service/call minder offer and the Caller Display was working by the end of the day. It works by adding a credit of £6.75 (2 select services for a quarter) + £6 (Call Minder for a quarter) to your bill. I didn't take the Call Minder as I'm happy with BT 1571. ...I knew from the outset that i would be one of those paranoid mum's constantly worrying about my baby & wondering if he was still breathing through the night, so I invested in the Angelcare monitor with movement sensor mat. The set includes a 'baby unit', 'parent unit' & movement sensor mat. The mat is placed under baby's mattress (if like mine, the base of the cot is slatted, or you're using it in such a moses basket, then you will need to place the mat on a firm surface such as a piece of plywood under the mattress), & is so sensitive that it can detect even the lightest of breathing. The mat connects to the baby unit which then transmits to the parent unit. ...The caller display unit from bt is a little white box that displays the phone number of the person who is calling you, the number will not be displayed if the incoming caller witholds their number it will just show witheld on the display, and if an international caller again it will not show the number the unit will just say international. i find it particularly useful if you have been out all day as the unit stores the last 50 numbers who have called you so you can check all the days calls and see those who couldn't be bothered to leave a message on the answer machine!!!! You do have to subscribe to the service from bt and pay a quarterly charge for the service to work. The unit is very easy to use you just scroll up and down through the numbers and you don't need an extra telephone socket either as you just plug your phone into...

A Quality Monitor

Advantages: Many functions, clear sound, no interference, talk back

...This product was a definite good purchase! I was quite overwhelmed with how much choice there was in the market as to which baby monitor to buy and I settled on this one as it sounded ideal. The product is a senor pad which detects tiny movements and will alarm after 20 seconds if there has been no movement so, for example, if your baby stopped breathing an alarm would go off after 20 seconds alerting you to this. Good cheap baby monitors (Tomy Walkabout Classic Advance Monitor)

Advantages: 100% portable, mains or battery powered, good solid units
Disadvantages: Can eat through batteries

...Recently the video baby monitors that I had been given (second hand) gave up the ghost so I had to purchase a new set. I decided that I didn't need a video one again or one with any other fancy gimmick on it (one that plays a melody etc), I wanted a nice basic and reasonable cheap monitor just so I could hear when she wakes up in a morning etc. After looking online at the hundreds of monitors available (most of which are very expensive) I found the Tomy Walkabout Classic Advance and after reading a couple of reviews I decided that this one should do the job just fine.
