Cambridge diet

Advantages: A low callorie diet
Disadvantages: Tastes vile

...The Cambridge diet is the type of diet that is known as a VLCD or a Very Low Calorie Diet. On the Cambridge Diet you consume 415 to 1500 calories per day, on what I described as a flexible weight-loss programme. It is a Sole Source Diet, in that all of your vitamin and mineral requirements are provided by the diet regimen. You take the diet meals in the form of powdered shakes that you mix yourself, soups, chocolate coated bars and readymade drinks. The diet depends on the effect of Ketosis, which is the technical term for starvation. Men and women need 2,000 to 2,500 calories per day. The Cambridge Diet relies on the fact that your body will have to rely on fat reserves in order to provide energy. Unfortunately the first thing to be burnt off will be muscle mass and vital organs, so most experts believe that any VLCD should...

The Cambridge

Advantages: nice out side
Disadvantages: none

...The Cambridge Pub Liverpool The Cambridge located just between Liverpool and John Moores University is generally a quiet small pub where some students hang out. Mostly the ones who live on campus and is basically their local. The Cambridge serves a good variety of lagers and bitters but nothing stands out as a classic beer of this pub. The Cambridge is one of the more expensive places to drink on campus but is generally cheap for visitors to Liverpool. In the summer the Cambridge is a very nice lace to sit out on their benches just of Abercromby Square which is a bit of a heat trap. I remember lots of enjoyable afternoons their. The Cambridge does not have a pool table or darts and rarely plays music is a place to go for a quiet chat....

The Cambridge Diet

Advantages: Fast weight loss
Disadvantages: MIGHT be bad for your health

...I went on the Cambridge diet last summer and lost 3 stones. I was once 12 st 12 & I went down to as light as 9 st 9, which is a really healthy weight for my height (5 ft 5). I'm currently studying at university & since my exams began, I've put on weight again. I put on about a stone! This diet was really good though, but not the healthiest diet so I wouldn't recommend you go on the sole source of the diet unless you SERIOUSLY need to lose weight. What's sole source? You eat virtually nothing. It consists of 3 or 4 Cambridge diets depending on your gender and height (I will explain this later once I've explained what you can eat). One thing that I liked most about this diet is that there are different stages of weight loss. Once you reach your goal, you can go up the stages of maintenance. When I was maintaining my weight, I...

I wouldn't like to walk to Cambridge from here

Advantages: walking distance from office
Disadvantages: miles from anywhere (like Cambridge)

...The Cambridge Belfry used to be owned by Marston but now it is Q and is there any difference? Well not much but some things were worse. Not quite in the league of fawlty towers but try having a hot shower! Well you can but only in the leisure area not in the bedroom. I reported the shower as running cold only when I went out in the morning. When I came back I tried the shower, leaving it running for 7 minutes as advised to do in the hotel information sheet. Sill stone cold. I telephoned reception as was informed I was not leaving it running long enough and that it had been signed off by the maintenance crew. I said I would leave it for fifteen minutes and get back to her. While it was running I tried to log into my lap top. This had worked perfectly the previous evening and that morning so I persevered. No Internet Connection...

Punting in Cambridge - brief summary!

Advantages: Good fun, beautiful scenery
Disadvantages: Possibilities of falling in if punting yourself!

...Punting is one of the most traditional things to do on a summers day in Cambridge. When the weather is good, it can often get quite busy, but that only adds to the excitement (especially if doing the punting yourself!). Punts can be hired in several locations around the city; you can either go through the more country route from Grantchester (where there are fantastic outdoor tea rooms in an orchard), or along the 'Backs' of Cambridge, past the likes of Kings College. Either offers a very scenic view! Especially in summer, there are often a number of people trying to entice you to their punts. There are several different companies, including ones such as Scudamores. Punts range in sizes and prices; you can either punt yourself, or hire a 'chauffeured' punt, whilst your guide gives you a history of the beautiful scenery and buildings...

Hotel Felix Cambridge - Great !

Advantages: Great food and accomodation, lots of facilities
Disadvantages: None

...We recently stayed at the Hotel Felix in Cambridge for the weekend and we had such a fantastic time so i thought as no one had written a review yet that maybe i should be the first!. The hotel is really easy to find and its only about a mile from cambridge city centre.. Hotel Felix is a traditional, large victorian building on the outside but its really modern looking on the inside. The hotel stands in really spacious surroundings and it has a large terrace and lovely gazebo for outside dining which is lovely especially when the weathers nice. We found all the staff to be very professional and friendly and we got checked in very quickly - about 5 minuites in total. The rooms were modern and minimilistic looking and were very spacious, our room was simply decorated and the colours were very neutral, the view from our...

The Real Cambridge. Where People Live.

Advantages: Seeing the real Cambridge.
Disadvantages: It is a little run-down. Mind your wallet!

...This is an opinion of a part of Cambridge that many tourists miss. Did you know that Mill Road is the biggest third shopping area in Cambridge? Mill Road is a long road split in half by a railway bridge. It is an area of terrace housing and flats interspersed with businesses and shops, pub and drop-in centres. There are a wide variety of shops including specialist organic and ethnic, interspersed with the more main stream banks, pharmacies and even the post office. Mill Road has its fair share of problems. Mill Road provides a good example of the chronic; common resident’s problems across the City of Cambridge. Okay, so the police station is at the top end of Mill Road, but it does not deter the drunken lout or the speeding motorists. Many of Cambridge’s visitors never see Mill Road. Its shops are suffering with high...

Corpus Christi - The Body of Christ - Cambridge

Advantages: *
Disadvantages: *

...When I stayed at Cambridge University last week with the Sutton Trust, we stayed in Corpus Christi College. This is just one of many colleges at Cambridge university. After arriving at Cambridge train station it was arranged for us to be taken to Corpus Christi by taxi. It took about 10 minutes to get there. We arrived at the Porter's Lodge where people from the Sutton Trust gave us an envelope with our room number and keys. I was staying in the Robert Beldam Building, which was about a 5-minute walk from the main Corpus Christi building. This didn't cause any problems but on the first day it was raining and we had to take our suitcases round (typical - it was sunny the rest of week when we didn't have our cases!) ~ The Corpus Christi Building ~ 'Corpus Christi' means the body of Christ. Corpus Christi College is one...

Degree of commonsense needed at Cambridge Cafe Rouge

Advantages: Bargain prices, classic French dishes
Disadvantages: More adventurous dishes probably best avoided

...'t indulging in. To be honest, it's the set menus which make Cafe Rouge a good deal. Steak, chips, stalwart starters like chicken liver pate and onion soup plus duck confit can all be had for bargain prices . They won't set the world alight, but they are reliable. And the same applies to the Cafe Rouge fishcakes, which I absolutely love and is what I SHOULD have ordered. Instead, I ordered grilled seabass with green beans, salsa and mash. It cost around £12.00 and should have gone marvellously with the chilled sauvignon blanc I'd previously ordered. What a disappointment. The fish was straight out of the freezer ( in fairness Cambridge is a long way from the sea) and did not taste of much at all. The salsa was bland and uninteresting , the food was also a bit lukewarm. It was OK, just about. Why oh why...

Cambridge Crowne Plaza; appeals to all punters!

Advantages: Location, atmosphere...It's luxury in a great city"
Disadvantages: Can be hard to locate

...Cambridge! Ah - what utter bliss! To a former Oxford student, it's known, somewhat scornfully, as "The other place". Fun rivalry, I guess! I've often been convinced that it's actually more beautiful, with fewer social problems. Visit both, but if you're only going to visit ONE of the UK's great university cities, I'm going to make no judgements. Make your own choice. Both our great. It was our (cough!) 14th wedding anniversary and I decided to treat the gorgeous Amanda to a night away in a nice hotel. I actually do this fairly frequently - the hotel stay, that is - and I have to say that I was far from disappointed by this particular experience. I'd booked on-line, via the Priority Club website and received a rate of just under £70 for the room and breakfast. We arrived on time and drove around Cambridge, I'd say, three times...
