compact and easy to use
Review of Kodak Advantix 4700ix Compact Camera by Loopy27

Advantages: easy to use, compact, three different size shots, date on back of photos
Disadvantages: film and developing slightly more expensive than normal film

...I have used many different cameras in the past, usually single lens reflex because I love to take pictures, and good ones too! I evenually decided that I wanted a compact camera that was easy to carry around, had a zoom, a built in flash and wasn't too expensive that I could use outside and at parties easily. This camera fit the bill. I get great results form this camera. I can add text and date to the BACK of the picture (therefore not ruining the front of the picture) or leave it blank. Film is easy to load - no fiddling with getting those notches to match up. Developing can be slightly more expensive than normal film but if you use the variety of frame sizes it can be worth the money. Panoramic is great for landscapes and party scenes alike. I've used it at parties, weddings, holidays, indoors and outdoors. The anti-red eye... Read review

Sturdy and still working
Review of Olympus OM-30 by markedwards

Advantages: Sturdy and reliable
Disadvantages: Heavy

...I bought my Olympus OM-30 back in 1984 and it has lasted well ever since. Although not used frequently, it remains a great single lens reflex camera suitable for use in lots of situations. It is certainly a bit bigger and heavier than modern cameras, but you would expect this of something over fifteen years old, but its facilities and ease of use are permanent. Its novel (at the time) focus "guidance" system is almost invariably ignored, as manual focusing seems superior. It is manual wind and rewind and aperture-priority based. I like the OM30 it is very flexible and reliable and I will probably keep it til it expires on me.... Read review

Review of Canon EOS 3000/EF 38-76 SET by R_A_C

Good Advanced Amateur Camera
Review of Canon EOS 50E QD by mlheintz

Advantages: Full Photographic Control, Eye-Controlled Focus
Disadvantages: Can't use IR films

...he Canon EOS 50E QD is a retro-style 35mm single-lens reflex (SLR) camera. I purchased mine in January 1999 and have had great results. This camera supports all EOS lenses and has the standard EOS command dial that offers users a choice of shooting modes. For beginners, this camera offers fully automatic, portrait, landscape, macro and sport modes. In these modes, the camera chooses the best combination of aperature and shutter. For more advanced users, the camera offers program, shutter priority, aperature priority and fully manual shooting modes. Additionally, the camera has a depth of field mode which allows users to pick two points in the frame for the area of focus. The camera also offers a quartz-date function for date printing on the photo, but I choose not to use this. I have had great success with this camera. I bought... Read review

How Sabine get's a free photo course
Review of Canon EOS 500 N by TheFist

Advantages: easy to use and it really tooks nice photos
Disadvantages: I have no idea - for the moment

...picture of the film is now the first picture you will take. Eache exposed photo will take place back in the roll. That is the reason why your photos are more safe in this camera than in otherones. If a misfortune to you occurs and therefor the rear-cover of your camera jumps up, the photos you allready took will be saved, because they are back into the roll. You should forget the rest of the film... In other cameras it is turned around. You can use the rest of the film and better forget the photos you have allready took. And Sabine, is it understandabele to you? - Nice, that makes me happy. Some more details, functions and tipps The weight of a reflex camera is very imortant. This aspect is often underestimated. A light camera is to be kept evenly simpler in the balance, so you do not blur the pictures so fast. The Canon EOS 500 N is one... Read review

FUJIFILM FINEPIX S5700, THE CAMERA FOR ME! :)
Review of Fujifilm FinePix S5700 by Hi-Spec-Tek

Advantages: EVERY ADVANTAGE FOR THE MORE SERIOUS PHOTOGRAPHER, SO MANY FEATURES.
Disadvantages: NOT INTENDED FOR YOUR POCKET. >OF COURSE NOT!<

...that and with reasonable results - but I am just a hobbiest photographer and not a professional. I just wanted more and better results. When I saw the beautiful results from this Fujifilm gem the Finepix S5700, I knew this would fill the bill and it has. My best camera buy in 15 years I am certain. The price is right and the specifications are excellent. There are all sorts of add-ons such as lenses and specially made cases for it. This model takes an SD card as well as Fuji's own brand of card, so this is a bonus since I can interchange easily with my other cameras. Added information: This is not only a camera with a more than adequet sized viewing screen but also is an SLR too! (Single Lens Reflex). A small point I would like to make is that as a VIDEO camera too, it is also extemely good. The pictures are crystal clear and the camera has an anti... Read review

Another digital camera
Review of JENOPTIK JENDIGITAL JD 3.3 xz3 by missmarplejunior

Advantages: see picture at once
Disadvantages: snapshots are hard to manage

...My mother gave us this camera Christmas 2003. Which is great for doing shots of the grandchildren and then mail them to the grandparents (they live in Germany and back then we still lived in the UK). So it keeped them a bit up to date. But trying to get a snapshot of a 1 year old is not very easy when they are constantly on the run. I had many "empty" pictures because she just ran off!!! I mainly use it for pictures on my ebay auctions. And for such things it is great. Or other still objects. The picture of me is actually taken with that camera! General I am not very convinced of digital cameras and still like to use my old fashioned Reflex one. Though one day I would like to invest in a digital Reflex camera. Jenoptik - a company profile Jenoptik is a company headquarterd in Jena, a city in the Eastern part of Germany, one... Read review

Good APS SLR
Review of Canon EOS IX by mlheintz

Advantages: Full EOS Compatability, APS Film interchangability
Disadvantages: Limited APS films, smaller negative

...The Canon EOS IX is an APS format Single Lens Reflex (SLR) camera. It has full compatability will all EOS lenses. I bought this camera as a backup for my EOS 50E (Elan IIE) kit. I wanted some of the advantages of APS without losing my investment in my EOS kit. The camera has not had a great deal of interest as a result of its off-centre lens mount, but I have had no balance problems with it. In fact, I find it easier to use than my 50E. The picture quality from the EOS IX is excellent. I tend to shoot FujiChrome 100ix APS slide film, Fuji Nexia 100F or Kodak 400 B&W films. These are the only films that I have had good results with in the APS range which is one of the draw backs of using an APS SLR. However, since this is my backup / holiday camera, these allow for all my shooting needs. The only real down-side to using... Read review

The best of both worlds
Review of Nikon Pronea S by Longshanx

Advantages: Smaller than most SLRs, cheaper than most SLRs, accepts APS film
Disadvantages: Some of the controls are tiny/fiddly to use

...I bought this camera because it appeared to offer a lot of features for my money. So far, the expense has been justified because of the wonderful prints I have received back from the development labs. The cost was a mere 150 pounds, for a camera which gets the best of both the SLR and APS worlds. For those who are not in the know: SLR is Single Lens Reflex. What you see through the view finder is exactly what you get in the frame because, thanks to a mirror, you are looking directly through the lens. APS is a relatively new type of film. The main advantages are: i) the films are smaller, and hence the cameras can be smaller too. ii) three frame sizes can be selected, including the classic 6x4 inch prints, a slighter larger 7x5, and a glorious panoramic size. iii) the films can be rewound mid-roll, and then re... Good camera, good price
Review of Canon EOS 300 by Shue

Advantages: good price, perfectly sharp pics
Disadvantages: maybe the synthetic body

...Introduction ------------- This is my first opinion in english language (I wrote for ciao Germany before), so please forgive me all the mistakes I may make... The Canon Eos 300 came out in 1999, I guess it is exactly two years now. I have read a test about it in a photographer's magazine - the test people were very delighted about it, because it seemed to have very nice features for a good price. Until this day I used to take my photos with a very olg AGFA reflex camera which was heavy and had no automatic focus. So I decided to buy the canon that I would have a quick but good camera for snapshots, photo series etc. in the future. I paid 800 german marks, which is about 260/270 GBP. Features of the camera ------------------------ -zoom 25mm to 80mm -canon quality lens -auto focus (switchable to manual) -different programs for portrait... Read review
