...Who is the Calling? The Calling is an American rock band from L.A. The band was formed by lead singer Alex Band and guitarist Aaron Kamin when Kamin was dating Alex Band's sister. In 2001 they released there first album called Camino Palmero which became a hit, here's the review. The Album The album Camino Palmero is named after the street where the two first met. Slowly going the way of the...

Advantages: A few excellent tracks
Disadvantages: Lacking in consistency overall

...I am continuously stunned by the depth of the Ciao catalogue at the moment....and pleased that I can introduce more bands that no one will have heard of into people's lives, even if for a short minute or so... I have been to gigs that start in such a way that I have stood in awe; my jaw-dropped to terra firma as the early notes ring out across the venue. Far be it from a physical disability that might otherwise leave my chin as a mere remnant on my face but the start to A Small Victory's El Camino has just that very same effect on me, so much so that it has warranted replay ever since its arrival, albeit restricted to those rooms that have been thoughtfully carpeted for such an occasion. Advantages: live song at the end is amazing
Disadvantages: a couple of skip-able songs

...This is the debut album from the L.A band, which is in fact a partnership between Alex Band and Aaron Kamin, who met when Aaron was going out with Alex's sister. They spent a good few years perfecting their music befor ethey got the opportunity they needed to release Camino Palmero, and all I can say is thank god they got their chance. This album is a great piece of work, with catchy, but meaningful lyrics, and wonderfully written music. This could appeal to most people, it cannot be branded pop or rock, it's in between, which makes it very versatile. The album starts off with Unstopable, exactly what this song is, it shows how versatile Alex's voice is, he hits the high notes, but still has the deep voice which makes the song so very sexy. ...With so many rock bands nowadays simply producing almost identical tracks completely distorted by well?.. distortion it is great to find a band with truly classic music as well as astounding vocals. Although best known for their great song ?Wherever you will go?, there is so much more to this band. The calling?s debut album ?Camino Palmero? is amazing. I honestly love every track on the cd and no two songs are very similar. The tracks vary from slightly heavier music ? ?Nothing?s changed ? to a very mellow tone ? ?wherever you will go?. This makes ?The Calling? appeal to a very wide audience and although they are criminally underrated they are gradually growing in popularity. ...Hostage - Would you sacrifice another family to save your own? This is the dilemma facing Bruce Willis in the film Hostage. It's not one of his well known films as far as I'm concerned but it is still a Bruce Willis classic, i.e., lots of guns and violence etc. The film was released in 2005 and was actually based on a novel by Robert Crais. As I don't like to spoil films in my reviews I will just give you a brief overview of the plot. Bruce Willis is a police chief in a small town, the fictional Bristo Camino in Ventura California. Advantages: Best album the band recorded. Still sounds fresh after 30 years.
