...After deciding to take a trip to Glasgow for a few days, my husband and I set out to find a good value hotel. After looking at the usual Travelodges and Premier Travel Inns, we came across the Campanile hotel which is like the French version of Travelodge. It was 52 pounds a night and had a secure car park, something which we found very good as parking in Glasgow tends to be quite expensive. Although the price was good we decided to shop around and managed to book 3 nights for 122 pounds on Expedia. The location of the hotel was very good as it was in the newly upgraded and developed area near the SECC and surrounding the hotel was luxury apartments, the new Clyde Arc bridge, the new STV and BBC Scotland studios and the SECC and Glasgow Science Centre. Campanile - A Disney Escape!

Advantages: Clean, Tidy, Friendly Staff
Disadvantages: Rooms could be bigger.

...Campanile as it is part of the same group of companies. We complained to the manager of the Premiere Classe hotel and insisted on being given a room in the Campanile as it was right next door. I'm sorry to say that I am one of those tourists who never really tries too hard to pick up the local language but I studied French for my GCSE's, albeit many years ago, and so was disappointed to learn that the staff at this hotel did not speak English. I guess disappointed is the wrong word but in lieu of a better one, it stays. The lady at the front desk could not speak a word of English but was very very helpful and friendly. My limited French did not really aid the situation but she knew that one of the guests was English and spoke fluent French and so asked him to help. She resolved the problem very quickly and gave us a room for the duration...

Campanile Bargain!

Advantages: Very cheap and clean
Disadvantages: None

...We decided to go away somewhere (not too far) for a week and found we could stop at the Campanile in Redditch for £90 for 4 nights, bargain! We didn't expect much for our money and when we got there we were told out room wasn't quite ready but much to our suprise we were offered free drinks at the bar while we waited and it was free for our dogs to stay with us too! The room inside was very clean and tidy. We discovered on the second day that we could get wireless internet in our room. The room was tidied and restocked for us every day. The local area was also very good for walking the dogs. All in all the price we payed was an absolute bargain, ok it's not the ritz but for £90 for 4 nights it was brilliant, so much so we've stayed their twice....

...For our recent holiday to Jard Sur Mer in the Loire Valley it was decided that we would break up the journey with an overnight stop rather than trying to cover the ten hour part of the French leg in a single day and as some of the group would have already endured a four and a half hour drive just to get to the Channel Tunnel we decided to stop somewhere just north of Paris which meant that the next day an early start would missing the worst of the Parisian traffic. As we were staying 4 nights we received different prices for each night as some included week-end rates and some -midweek the rooms were costed £81 for the Fri and Sat and £50 for the Thursday and Sunday night giving us a overall total of around £260 per room. We have stayed in some lovely hotels within Ireland and the United Kingdom that charge the same rates as the Campanile and have had breakfast included in these rates without having been insulted once more by asking us for £6.25 each for breakfast the next morning. Meet England's most obnoxious deputy manager

Disadvantages: Everything especially the deputy manager

...and didn?t even have drawers that could be used for clothes; no mini-fridge; no iron; no useable electrical sockets, with the exception of the one in the small hallway outside the bathroom and inside the bedroom door. This meant if you paid a refundable £10 to get a cheap iron and leprechaun sized ironing board from reception, you had no choice but to kneel on the floor between the bathroom and bedroom door in order to iron your clothes. I was delighted to see Cold Drinks machines placed at the end of the corridor until I realized that none of them actually worked and it was impossible to purchase any type of drink. A feeling of security was not a natural occurrence whilst staying at the Campanile as you were constantly warned by posters dotted around the building that not only was the hotel not responsible for items stolen from the car park...

You get what you pay for.

Advantages: Price, Complete privacy, private entrance to rooms, close to the city pubs, clubs and bars.
Disadvantages: £50 per night bond money to be paid on arrival, noise at night from Beverley road

...I had to stay in Hull for a week for work purposes and after much searching on the internet I came across the Campanile which seemed to be reasonably priced and conveniently located for where I needed to be. The thing that had appealed to me with this hotel over others in the city was that you had your own private entrance to your room (they in chalet style blocks) meaning you didn't have to pass through reception to get to your room and could come and go as you pleased. I booked my room through a hotels booking website and believed I had paid in full.... However when I checked in at reception I was told that a further £50 per night (bond money I think they called it) was required in addition to the tariff I had already paid. Campanille Hotel

Advantages: The buffet, clean and tidy rooms, good value.
Disadvantages: Nothing to do, heavy smoking and a good 40 minutes drive away from Disney.

...Campanile Paris-Est Nogent sur Marne Quai du Port France After a recent visit to Disney land Paris (December 2006), we stayed at a Campanile Hotel in Nogent sur Marne. It is situated just outside the city, along the river Marne, in the countryside near Paris. We had no idea what the hotel would be like until we arrived but I was assured it was at least a 2* establishment. The tour company gave me the name and address prior to leaving the UK but I could not find many detailed photographs on the internet. www.expedia.co.uk gave a view of the front of Campanille and the descriptions given on various sites were mostly the same, "Modern with restaurant, coffee shop and bar; multilingual staff; situated in the city near public transportation". Apparently there are rooms for the disabled but these have to be pre-booked as well...
