...One of the most irritating things about going into shops these days is the fact that, with the coming of YTS, New Deal, and a host of other employment-figures-massaging techniques, our retailers have resorted to employing trained chimps to serve us. It is increasingly difficult to find anyone who knows anything about the products they are selling us. Not so at Yeomans Outdoors! In the Lancaster branch where I go, all the staff are friendly, polite, and most importantly KNOW LOADS ABOUT the outdoors gear they sell. Their staff training programme must be superb - although I think a lot of it is down to the fact that they only employ people who are actively interested in walking, hiking, climbing, etc. Their product knowledge is excellent, of both their own stock and items which they don't sell (and they will order you ANYTHING...

...I came across this store Go Outdoors about 1 year ago when I went with my partner, he needed some new boots for work and he was told about this place from a friend of his. It is a store that sells everything to do with outdoors from coats and jackets to tents, any thing to do with camping, fishing equipment, skiing, cycling, caravanning, boots, maps every thing you need. The store we went to is in Coventry it is situated at Coventry Business Park, Canley Road, just 10 minutes from the NEC which is not to far from us. It had ample parking places, and it is open every day of the week. ...I would just like to write a review on camping, from my own very many years worth of experience! If you have never been camping, then you don't quite know what you are missing - yet. Camping usually means spending up to two weeks in a tent that leaks, with another person who snores and so keeps you up all night - or a dog that also keeps you awake by farting and licking you all over the face all night. But there are some advantages to it, but I have yet to find out what they are! However, with all said here are some thoughts on both sides of the matter. Because I love it really! Leadstone Camping - Great

Advantages: Quiet, pleasant staff, great place to get the children out and playing
Disadvantages: Hill up from the Warren (but catch the bus!)

...I think the other reviewers of this campsite must have had some strange concepts of what camping is about! Have used this site for a number of years (not exclusively - I camp at least 6 times a year). Only once have I had a problem with tent guys overlapping and that was because the person who pitched next to me had a monster of a tent and no idea how to pitch it so it didn't encroach. In fact, on many sites, they would have had to book 2 pitches. One reviewer complain about a party next door to the campsite - I was there at the time and the time - the property adjoining the site is NOTHING to do with the site. Andrew did his best to negotiate with the residents but they were unco-operative at the time - the police had to be called in the end. We, and anyone who asked, WERE reimbursed for that night. The magazine is entitled Outdoors and according to the blurb on the opening page it has been created as part of the PlantforLife campaign which aims to help get the most out of your garden. Now it is a long journey by car from Calais as Nant is 957km, 8.40,hours driving without stops, (Michelin route guide) so we decided to break our journey and camp at Blessle in the Auvergne region for a couple of nights . Blessle according to Michelin is 776km and 7 hours 8 minutes drive from Calais. Camping- What a Carry On !!

...the outdoors is a good recipe for fun and adventure. We met great people and had great barbies and a healthy amount of alcohol and talked and enjoyed the company of others well into the wee smal hours. A CAUTIONARY TALE: Your camping experience can be blighted by the tiny but perfectly awful MIDGEY. These are the scourge of a Scottish summer and cannot be avoided, some people wear hats with nets others special cream, my advice would be dont camp near a waters edge and try and keep a small fire burning (if allowed) so there is smoke and this seems to deter the mighty midge. The problem with outdoor pursuits, is that they do tend to take place some distance from "civilisation", and as such brings with it the fact that any massistance required, is going to take some time to arrive. This is where you are going to need equipment like a good basic first aid kit, to deal with any injuries you may have. The one illustrated is by the First Aid Warehouse, they market this one as the "The OUTABS First Aid Kit". This kit is aimed at instructors or for use in suppost vehicles, kits designed to be carried as personal issue, are a lot smaller, and easier to stow.
