...Coopers campsite is situated in Edale and is the campsite which leads you directly onto the Pennine way. I first stayed on this site in 1985 when you were actually aloud to park your car at the side of your pitch and you were allowed to have a small, but controlled, open fire. It is in a great location, right behind the village shop and a few metres from the Nags head pub, so you can crawl back to your tent after a skin full of real ale. The site is a good size, comprising of three fields which are all used for camping, either tents or caravans. They supply a shower block and toilets, which ALL sites have to supply anyway. I always used a tent,(or bivi) and felt safe in the open fields. There is a cafe at the entrance of the site which serves a half decent breakfast and is open to non site users, (as cooking your own breakfast...

Campsite in Newquay

Advantages: quiet surroundings, near Newquay
Disadvantages: facilities out of season, pay to park car

...Trethiggey Campsite in Newquay is only around 10 minutes drive from the heart of Newquay in the small village of Quintrell Downs. Its situated no more than 3 miles from 5 fantastic beaches where many watersports including surfing take place. The park is open all year round with a snack bar, shop, showers, games room, laundrete, fishing lake and childrens adventure playground. Unfortunatly as I found when i went just before the main summer season started many of these were not yet up to scratch. The shop was only half stocked, the snack bar opened in the morning for a couple of hours just before we were leaving to go home, one of the shower blocks wasn't in use and the games room had an old rundown tv and ripped sofa in it. new nice campsite

Advantages: cheap and friendly
Disadvantages: basic, 1 mile from pub

...This campsite does not yet appear on OS maps as it was set up pretty recently. So make sure you print out the map on their website or you will end up in a different campsite which is not as nice. Mandale House campsite is owned by a couple who run a farm. It consists of 3 large fields, about 3/4 mile from Over Haddon, near Bakewell. You book in at the farmhouse, which also provides milk, eggs and bacon butties on request! The shelter is ok in the middle field, not so good in the top, and better in the bottom (but a bit wet). When we stayed it was £3 per person, with no extra charges for cars or dogs. Showers are hot and free. The toilet block is basic but sufficient (cold floor though). Washing up facilities even more basic, just a cold tap and a sink. When we stayed, (a weekend in August 04) we were the only people...

The Great Langdale Campsite near Cumbria Way

Advantages: Excellent facilities
Disadvantages: High camp charges

...When the Lake District was finally open after the foot and mouth situation, we decided to give it a first visit. Where we went: Amberside town was rather crowded but still okay. We spent 5 days there but it rained for 4 days while we were there. Though the weather was bad, the beautiful lakes and hills sort of made up for it. Flying high at the campsite

Advantages: Easy to put up, tall enough to stand up in, excellent for 2 people and loads of kit
Disadvantages: Not really big enough for 4 and kit

...This year we camped in the Spanish Pyrenees just outside the town of Ribes de Freser .The camp site called CÀMPING VALL DE RIBES This camp site is about 5 minutes outside the town on the road to Pardines. If you were not traveling by car the train from Toulouse in France which continues on to Barcelona stops at Ribes de Freser. Or there is an airport at Girona or Barcelona about 100 km's away. We traveled by car and arrived at the campsite found the booking in office We paid 4.75 euros for the tent each night plus 5 euro per person plus 5 euro for the car. CAMPING NEAR THE NAVEL OF THE WOLRD

...We spend several weeks in May and June 2005 camping in Greece, mainly in Peloponessus, but we also strayed onto the mainland to visit the shrine of Delphi and stayed in a campsite I am now reviewing. *Location* There are actually three campsites in the immediate vicinity of Delphi, all of them located on the Delphi-Itea road and all easily accessible both by car and bus: this one is the furthest (7 km), located on the border of village of Krisso, which actually in the ancient times ruled Delphi sacred perceint and only after a series of 'Sacred Wars' its hegemony has been overruled. Staying in the heart of the Peaks

Advantages: Great location, cheap and cheerful, breath taking views, owners that leave you alone

...Looking for a cheap and cheerful holiday my other half and I thought we would get the tent out and head to the Peak District for a few days. Unless you go for one of the all singing and all dancing campsites, i.e. those that have bars, restaurants, nightlife, entertainment, swimming pools etc, all other campsites are pretty much similar, in my experience. Our requirements were simple with the only things needed being a toilet block and showers (pretty standard stuff), a fishing lake (there?s nothing more relaxing than a day by the water side) and located in the heart of the Peak District. With such few requirements you?d thought we?d be spoilt for choice but funding a campsite with a fishing lake in the Peak District provide more problematic than I had first anticipated. What? You can enjoy camping?

Advantages: It's just brilliant. Everything. For a campsite.

...I have a long, and occasionally chequered history with Beddgelert Campsite. Non of it detracts from the excellence of the place at all. For me, it is the number one campsite for families in the UK. Bar non. My love affair with the place started of with a certain amount of mixed feelings. I first went there in 1990 for seven weeks. That's a bleedin' long time in a tent. Even Bedouin camel herders get piddled off after 7 weeks let me tell you. Why do you think camels spit? I wasn't on holiday but mapping a nearby mountain as part of my undergraduate degree. It was hot, hot hot. I missed the World Cup semi-final against Germany. I was by myself with no transport. Camping Out In the Peak District!

Advantages: Excellent Location

...It may seem a little bit odd that I am reviewing a Campsite in the middle of December, but the truth is I not some kind of mad freak who enjoys camping out in sub zero temperatures. I actually visited Cooper's campsite at the end of September and had a very enjoyable time. I asked Ciao to add it as a category back then but nothing happened until now.
