...Me and my sister saw this machine a few years ago in the Argos catalogue. The way they worded the product description made the machine appear amazing and the picture was exciting too. You may see where this is heading... We bought the machine and it was around £20 When we got home, we unwrapped it and quickly browsed through the instructions. Unfortunately it was not what it seemed to be. We poured in the sugar and it took around 10 minutes to even make a tiny smidgen of candy floss. We were very disappointed as this wasn't even a mouthfull. Its very loud too. The only good point was how 'nice' the machine appeared to be, before we found that it didn't work! Pink Candy Floss Maker, make tasty candy floss in minutes!

Advantages: You can use any sugar, and it takes minutes to heat up. Smells, and tastes delicious!
Disadvantages: It may take a few goes to get the technique of spinning correct!

Princess Candy Floss Maker

Advantages: It tastes exactly like the candy floss from the fair!

...I was given this for christmas bacause of my well known love of candy floss. I'd wanted one for a while and was not disappointed . One tablespoon of normal granulated sugar makes a pretty impressive wad of candy floss. The unit is quite large but the box has easily slotted into some unused nook. It fits together easily and only takes a few minutes to heat up. Its not too loud either so doesn't become an annoyance. The maker comes with a set of sticks and it's easy to get the hang of catching the candy floss with tips from the handy instruction manual. It would be a really exciting gift for any child or adult alike. It comes apart for cleaning, but make sure it has cooled properly as the middle where the candy floss is produced is metal. Good candy floss, bad machine

...I bought the Candy Floss maker for my 4 year old daughter for Christmas, she'd spotted it on a TV advert and instantly wanted one! I thought the idea was pretty novel and decided to buy one. I always parcel my Christmas presents at the last moment (typical guy!) and luckily decided to have a look before wrapping the machine. I found out that the unit uses rechargable batteries, which in itself is a good thing (and it allows it to be taken to the beach etc.) and charged them fully before wrapping the machine. The unit seems strong enough to withstand the normal abuse inflicted by excited kids. How many kids will be dissappointed when opening this toy only to find they have to - PARENTS TAKE NOTE! -charge it for eight hours before it can be used. You can repeat the process until no more candy floss is produced. When it is empty it may smoke caused by the sugar caramelising so that is the time to refill it. CLEANING: This is a very awkward process. As the unit contains a heating element, it is not suitable for normal washing. Therefore you have to attempt a fiddley "dunking in a bowl of water" procedure. There is a fill line on the side of the machine. I found the easiest way to do this was to put the unit upside-down into the bowl and gradually add the water with a jug (or from the kettle). However, I found that a lot of the sugar stayed in the sugar loading head...

...I had bought a toy candy floss maker as my children had seen it advertised on TV and were desperate to get one. It's blue in colour (you can also get pink) and shaped like a water tower or a funnel. The funnel shape at the top, is where the floss is made and then the handle which extends out from the bottom of the funnel, is approximately eight inches long. This is where the batteries are put. There is a safety lid on the top so you don't get flying sugar in your eye! It will not operate without the safety lid. It is quite heavy to hold while the floss is being made, considering its supposed to be a child's toy. So one day when in Woolworths, I saw one reduced to half price - £14.99 instead of £29.99 - and thought brilliant I'll buy it and bought it.
