Tomatoes
Advantages: love the smell and taste
Disadvantages: have to wait so long for them
...Tomatoes - lycopersicon esculentum
Tomatoes are normally red and round shape fruits but as the market for them still grow there different varieties, callous and shapes.
The first tomato came from Eastern Mexico and they first been grown by Aztecs. The tomatoes spared all over the world after Spain made their great discoveries of America. And from about 18th century tomatoes has been eaten nearly all over the world. In Brittan first tomato has been grown by John Gerard.
As I was reading I find out that the biggest tomato tree is growing inside the Walt Disney Resort?s in Lake Buena Vista and this is the biggest single tomato plant in the world and produce 32000 tomatoes.
Tomatoes are very good for you, they are high in nutrients and containing high level of vitamin and as we all know they are low in calories. One tomato can...

grow your own tomatoes
Advantages: great to grow indoors
Disadvantages: dont like the cold
...Tomatoes are not realy a fruit you can grow in the open due to our cold british weather we need to grow our tomatoes in a greenhouse.
I dont usually plant mine untill early may as the frost will definatley kill them.
I use grow bags to grow the tomatoes in as they dont require a lot of soil as there roots are not too large but the plant itself does get to around 6 foot tall. I space 3 plants along my grow bag, one at each end and one in the middle.
I have never attempted to grow a tomato plant from seed as i always buy mine from a garden center as a baby plant.
As tomatoes are very heavy they tend to pull the plant over so i tie mine to the poles in my greenhouse to stop this happening with garden string.
There is no mistaking when your tomatoes are ready to eat as they will be hanging off the plant, green to begin...

Tomatoes? Sauce!
Advantages: Easy to grow, tasty and heavy cropping
Disadvantages: Prone to diseases, Requires heavy watering
...Tomatoes are one of the easiest of the vegetables to grow at home fom seed and they are most certainly one of my favourites. In our country, they are grown as annuals, and if grown in the tropics, then they are grown as short lived perennials. Indeterminate types of tomatoes (mid-size, non bushy) has a very long trailing main stem, which may grow to as long as 8 feet and has vigorous side shoots. The shorter (semi-determinate) and bush (determinate) types of tomato stop growing much sooner than other indeterminate types of tomatoe, and the stems on these end in a truss of fruits.
You can also obtain some dwarf varieties, which will only grow to approx 9 inches wide and the same tall. From the many different types of tomatoes that are available, you can select for different colours. Tomatoes come in yellow, red, pink, orange or white...

Tomato Tales.
Advantages: Don't need much space to grow some.
Disadvantages: Need lots of watering.
...First, some facts. Tomatoes are good food. They contain vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium and iron.
They are packed with phytochemicals. What are phytochemicals? A very simple explanation is that our bodies can make use of them to help fight disease, including heart disease, cancers and viruses.
Did you know that tomatoes are perennial plants? It's only in cooler climates, like ours, that we stop them growing. This ensures that what little fruit we do get will ripen during our short growing season.
Tomatoes originated in South America and come from the same family as potatoes.
You can graft a tomato plant onto a potato plant and harvest a crop from both. I was shown how to do this at school. It was confusing, as I'd also learnt that a tomato is a fruit and yet a potato is a vegetable. Or perhaps not. Potato seed comes from a fruit...

Tomatoes, yum!
Advantages: Good for you, versatile.
Disadvantages: Go off quickly.
...♥Tomatoes!
Everyone in England has eaten a tomato. Well, probably. The tomato is one of the most versatile vegetables available to buy, as they can be used in a myriad of recipes AND eaten raw. They're also very cheap and easy to get hold of as every single supermarket and local greengrocer stocks them without exception.
♥Looks.
Tomatos are hardly the most attractive fruit/vegetable in the world, but they're not bad.
For those of you that don't know (I can't really believe that you don't!) tomatos are big, round and red (some are more orange, some are more purple) and they grow on vines, usually in hot countries, but they can be grown in England if you know what you're doing. I'll get to that later!
♥Tomato facts.
A few facts about tomatoes:
Botanically speaking, it's a fruit, not a vegetable.

Heinz Tomato Ketchup - I can't eat without it!
Advantages: Tastes great. Goes with nearly everything! Good for you?
Disadvantages: You might not like it!
...For me, many meals would not be complete without a dollop of Heinz Tomato Ketchup on the side of my plate. I am one of those people that could eat nearly anything as long as it had been dunked in tomato ketchup!
Heinz have been producing tomato ketchup since 1876 and although normally I can not tell the difference between brand name products and supermarkets own brands with tomato ketchup I have developed a definite knack for it! Cheaper brands seem to taste quite vinegary whereas Heinz get the balance just right and produce a lovely tomato sauce that actually tastes like tomatoes...but sweeter! Heinz boast that 126g of tomatoes go into each 100g of ketchup to make the rich, tomato taste in the sauce. As the tomatoes are cooked they lose weight in water but keep their flavour.
Heinz tomato ketchup ingredients:
Tomatoes

What Colour Are Your Tomatoes? Red, black yellow, purple, lemon?
Advantages: Lots of flavours, colours and varieties
Disadvantages: Hard to get seed for some kinds
...If you thought that all tomatoes were much the same in colour and shape, you'd be wrong. These are just a few of the more unusual varities which are sometimes know as heritage, or heirloom varieties.
The Black Krim is an unusual tomato. This rare tomato has purple to black skin and reddish-black flesh. It is a large tomato with a slightly irregular surface. Most black tomatoes come from Russia and this one originates from the Island of Krim which is on the Black Sea.
The lemon boy tomato is actually a pale lemon colour, not golden yellow. It is aromatic and has a slightly pinky tinge to its flesh. The skin feels soft and almost peachy and the ox heart is a heart shaped fruit as the name suggests and a lovely deep pink colour. A single fruit can weigh as much as one pound. There are few seeds in these tomatoes which makes them great...

A tomato warmer
Advantages: Low calories
Disadvantages: none
...Recently in the cold weather I have been taking a can of soup into work for my lunch, one day a can of Heinz weight watchers tomato soup. I bought it at Tesco they were on offer till the end of Jan , 3 tins for £1.50 or 1 tin for 57p. Packs of 4 tins cost £2.65 . Each tin is 295 grams.
Anyway at my lunch break I wait for the microwave to be free a few other people have food to heat for lunch now it?s cold, I only have half an hour to heat my soup and eat it in. I empty my soup into a bowl heat it for a couple of minutes then at last sit down to eat.
1 tin is a good size for a snack lunch nearly fills my bowl.
This tomato soup is a good red tomato colour. It is a reasonably thick soup not thin and watery. Tastes quite tomatoey and fairly creamy. Yes I like this soup Tomato soup is one of my favorites.
This soup is fairly...

Tesco Value Tinned Chopped Tomatoes
Advantages: A basic stock cupboard accessory
Disadvantages: Nothing more!
...Ah, a stock cupboard essential...aside the baked beans and tinned peas, here's the good old Tesco Value Chopped Tomatoes. Nuff said.
Priced in the shop at 39p for a 400 gram tin...that's about 6p more than the peeled plum variety, chopped tomatoes are a staple of numerous foods - obvious ones such as bolognese and chilli, and despite their extremely cheap price, they are one of the most important parts of the meal.
Naturally, there are more expensive varieties out there. Even other Tesco own brand ones cost more - some include hints of garlic or basil, for a mere couple of pence more which may be ideal if you only want one can and don't want to both a 'bunch' or 'clove' or whatever these additions come in!
The ingredients are as followed (there's not many!)...
Tomatoes (60%), Tomato Juice, Citric Acid.
Done! As you...

Heinz Cream of Tomato Soup
Advantages: Warming, filling and tasty
Disadvantages: Too high sugar and fat contents
...Well, with the cold winter nights fast approaching us again (did they ever actually leave us!?) its time to stock my kitchen cupboards with warming, tasty treats, perfect for those cold, dark nights, and for me there is nothing more warming than a lovely hot bowl of Heinz Cream of Tomato Soup.
~The Soup Itself~
I have heard many people nowadays say this product isn't as good as it used to be, but as a child I was never keen on soups, so I really can't comment on if this is true or not. However, I can comment on what I think of this soup nowadays and i'm a big fan of it.
Heinz Cream of Tomato soup is exactly what it says on the tin. It is a tomato flavoured soup with a subtle but tasty hint of cream added to it. The cream really adds a nice flavour to this soup but it in no way makes it taste sickly or fattening...
