Cannes and Nice France

Advantages: Good place for children, friendly, watch out for the hot summer months,
Disadvantages: Hotels get full fast so book ahead

...Cannes Cannes is known as one of the most stimulating Places in the world: With breathtaking sea views and many attractions that would print that romantic memory, Cannes will also spoil you with the high street shopping and the endless bars and restaurants that line the streets will never see you without a good meal, and that is without mentioning the beautiful sandy beaches along the coastline where you can relax and enjoy the french sun, you will also find sellers selling there souvenirs along the sidewalks and for a small fee you can rent chaise lounge and umbrellas to drink and take a nice relax in the shade. Cannes Central Click here for Cannes Accommodation in the central Area Cannes is a busy place holding up tp one million inhabitants in which French is the local laungage, English is also spoken there but get...

Glamorous Cannes

Advantages: Gorgeous, Glamorus, nice weather, beautiful beach
Disadvantages: expensive

...Cannes, best known for its prestigious film festival is a glamorous and exquisite town in French Riviera. It has beautiful sandy beaches along the deep blue Mediterranean and the town harbor is packed with exquisite and expensive boats and yachts. The town is small but pretty with wide promenade bordered with plum and olive trees along the beach and red tiled French-Italian Mediterranean style mansions. The most visited place here is of course the film auditorium, just yards from the main beach. Each year it hosts one of the most prestigious world film festival and is visited by Hollywood's who's-who! The main court yard in front of the auditorium has hand impressions of renounced film stars and celebrities like Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, and Steven Spilberg. During the film festival each year, this small...

No Cannes Do

Advantages: Great place for people watching
Disadvantages: a tacky novelty that wore off quickly

...This summer I was lucky enough to spend a good bit of time touring the South Of France. It was a voyage of discovery and wonderment and I am going to share with you my experiences of Cannes. If you want historical facts about the place, or a list of hotels...you will not find it here.... but enjoy nonetheless. Funzo's Fantastical French Follying Adventures (the catchy name I gave my trip) had to take in Cannes. Driving along the south coast after a dissapointed day in the overcrowded, far too English resort of Nice, Cannes seemed an ideal box to tick and the 40ft Motorhome trundled laboriously along the picturesque if not scary coastal road that can take you from Monaco to Marseille with the sea never leaving your eyeline. The traffc to and from Cannes was about as busy as we had seen over the few weeks and the glaring neon...

Cannes on a budget - yes, you can do it

Advantages: Glamorous, no mosquitos, cultural, beautiful, an experience
Disadvantages: Full of silly little poodles & their equally silly owners - can be expensive if you don't watch the prices

...Beleive it or not, it is possible to have a week in Cannes & spend no more than you would anywhere else in the Med! I was in Cannes years ago & did find it terribly expensive (but we were young, on the prowl & in search of nothing but drink & men... but not necessarily in that order). This time however, we were on a different mission - a secret trip to the Monaco Grand Prix - tickets were a surprise 30th birthday present for my loved one - and boy was he surprised! The GP is great but it was only a small reason why we chose Cannes. We had lovely accommodation - the Resideal Cannes right behind the Carlton & the Noga Hilton on the Croisette. It had a lovely pool, was 30 seconds from the Croisette & Rue d'Antibes & was gorgeous. The bar however, was a total rip off! We went to the supermarket in search of cheap & we certainly...

Best HOTEL in Cannes - Carlton Intercontinental

Advantages: This is one amazing hotel with everything you want in one of the greatest cities of France
Disadvantages: pretty much non-affordable for normal folks

...In september 2000 I was invited to the presentation of OPEL´s new car called Corsa. I was surprised that they did this presentation not in germany, but in Cannes, France. Furthermore I was really happy to see which hotel OPEL booked for the 3 day stay of their exclusive customers: The world famous Carlton Intercontinental Hotel at Cannes... Famous, some of you might ask and I say yes, famous it is. Most of you know that european film festival every year at Cannes. That hotel there is that historic building in which all the major actors, directors and plenty of wannabe´s are staying. The building itself is under a historic building law in france and so to uphold business in there the owners have to spent lots of money quite frequently to rebuild the beautiful historic outside of the hotel. It has 7 floors and on ground level...

*Leading your way to happiness?*

Advantages: Great book, well written gets into the heads of a teenager really well
Disadvantages: only really for a 15-19 year old target group of readers

...written book by Kate Cann and I love how she gets into the mind of teenagers really well. Most girls (and boys) my age and slightly younger can probably relate to this and understand what's going on, which makes you feel as if you are those characters in the book, being pulled in by everything. It's not my favourite book but it's a good summer read for mid-late teenagers to read and it's one that is hard to put down. Kate Cann writes beautiful books for teenagers and I love every one of them, and this one doesn't disappoint either. Leader of the pack is available in most bookshops and the RRP's at £6.99 however I think I bought my copy from book superstore for £3, so shop around to get the best deal. Overall I give this book a 8/10 as I am getting a little older now and moving out of these types of books and it was hooking...

Review of Leader of the Pack - Kate Cann

*Jump We're Falling, Stay We're Drowning*

Advantages: A fab summer read for older teenagers
Disadvantages: You just want to read the follow ons without stopping

...Having just finished reading the other two books in this series, and having read this book once before, before reading the other two, I thought that I would re-read it and review it for you. This is a book designed for older reader's and mainly suited to girl's who have read the other two in the series. Both I and my best friend can relate to issues found within the series, and I recommend reading Diving In and In the deep end before you read this teen chick lit. *History on Kate Cann* Kate Cann wanted to be a witch up until the age of thirteen when she started writing diaries, which parts of have been used in the diving in trilogy; the second book in the series. Kate never thought that she would become an author, but enjoyed writing and books, and so carried that on in later life, studying and achieving two degrees in English. She...

Hard cheese and a gap between the teeth

Advantages: Well-researched abd sympagthetic biography
Disadvantages: None

...became the Americans? ?favourite silly-ass Englishman? in the late 1960s. Sometimes, as McCann suggests, the personality of the man himself is hard to track down, because the person in front of the camera was exactly the same as he was in real life. Unlike most other thespians, he eventually became the part he played. As his second cousin, Richard Briers, later said, when the curtain comes down most actors leave their stage voices behind, but T-T never did. The impression one has is of a very funny and very clever man who nearly always managed to get his own way. One of the few occasions he did not was when he was blackballed for membership of the RAC. Being turned down by that organization, he fumed, was ?worse than being turned down by a tart in Piccadilly?. Just as the book threatens to become a slightly flat chronicle of success...

Review of Bounder!: The Biography of Terry-Thomas - Graham McCann

*In the heat of the night we are having a FIESTA*

Advantages: A brilliant chick lit book designed for young adults
Disadvantages: Men may not like the girly atmospheres within the book

...I recommend this as a good summer chick lit. for all you male population out there, I am going to tell you to stop reading if you don't like girly chick literature, but for all you young females, I am suggesting you read on, as this is the perfect book for taking on holiday with you to read. Review of Fiesta Kate Cann - Kate Cann

A Tragic Childhood

Advantages: A thought provoking book which is both sad but inspiring
Disadvantages: You wont want to put it down once you start so make sure you have a few hours free

...McCann was just five years old when his life was changed forever. His mother went out one night looking very pretty with her makeup on and just never came home again. We go through all the emotions with him as he and his sister go looking for their mum in the morning and after they couldn't find her return home. He really cannot understand what is happening to him when a plain clothed policeman arrives and assures him that he will be taking care of them and they would be going for a ride in his car. With his sisters Sonia, Donna and Angela, they arrive at Becket's Park Children's Home. It was here after they had been given a nice cup of hot chocolate that they were told their mother had gone to heaven and they wouldn't be seeing her anymore. Eventually the children went to live with their father and here you have your first feelings...
