Glamorous Cannes

Advantages: Gorgeous, Glamorus, nice weather, beautiful beach
Disadvantages: expensive

...and fashionable Cannes at the other side of the sea. We were staying at Nice and went back there in the evening catching the return train. Cannes is full of hotels and holiday apartments. But most of them are rather expensive, thanks to its glamorous and fashionable reputation. However, there are plenty of equally beautiful places nearby along the Mediterranean coast where you can get relatively cheaper accommodation. It is highly possible to stay in Nice, Antibe or Canges sur Mer and visit Cannes in day trip. All these places are very well connected to Cannes by road and rail. No Cannes Do

Advantages: Great place for people watching
Disadvantages: a tacky novelty that wore off quickly

...This summer I was lucky enough to spend a good bit of time touring the South Of France. It was a voyage of discovery and wonderment and I am going to share with you my experiences of Cannes. If you want historical facts about the place, or a list of hotels...you will not find it here.... but enjoy nonetheless. Funzo's Fantastical French Follying Adventures (the catchy name I gave my trip) had to take in Cannes. Driving along the south coast after a dissapointed day in the overcrowded, far too English resort of Nice, Cannes seemed an ideal box to tick and the 40ft Motorhome trundled laboriously along the picturesque if not scary coastal road that can take you from Monaco to Marseille with the sea never leaving your eyeline. Cannes on a budget - yes, you can do it

Advantages: Glamorous, no mosquitos, cultural, beautiful, an experience
Disadvantages: Full of silly little poodles & their equally silly owners - can be expensive if you don't watch the prices

...Beleive it or not, it is possible to have a week in Cannes & spend no more than you would anywhere else in the Med! I was in Cannes years ago & did find it terribly expensive (but we were young, on the prowl & in search of nothing but drink & men... but not necessarily in that order). This time however, we were on a different mission - a secret trip to the Monaco Grand Prix - tickets were a surprise 30th birthday present for my loved one - and boy was he surprised! The GP is great but it was only a small reason why we chose Cannes. We had lovely accommodation - the Resideal Cannes right behind the Carlton & the Noga Hilton on the Croisette. Best HOTEL in Cannes - Carlton Intercontinental

Advantages: This is one amazing hotel with everything you want in one of the greatest cities of France
Disadvantages: pretty much non-affordable for normal folks

...In september 2000 I was invited to the presentation of OPEL´s new car called Corsa. I was surprised that they did this presentation not in germany, but in Cannes, France. Furthermore I was really happy to see which hotel OPEL booked for the 3 day stay of their exclusive customers: The world famous Carlton Intercontinental Hotel at Cannes... Famous, some of you might ask and I say yes, famous it is. Most of you know that european film festival every year at Cannes. That hotel there is that historic building in which all the major actors, directors and plenty of wannabe´s are staying. The building itself is under a historic building law in france and so to uphold business in there the owners have to spent lots of money quite frequently to rebuild the beautiful historic outside of the hotel. All about Aston university accommodation

...I have been a student at Aston university for 4 yrs now and over that time I have visited friends at other universities and noticed the considerable differences between the accommodation. So I decided to write about the halls of residence here as university is an important step in life and accommodation wil feature as a deciding factor of whether or not you choose the university. CAMPUS Aston is a campus university and so all the halls of residence are very close to the actual university. The furthest you could be is about 5 mins. walk from the main buildings. Therefore rolling out of bed five mins. before your lecture is not such a bad thing (I don't recommend this though!). In comparison with Nottingham university where the furthest hall can take up to twenty mins. to walk we have it easy here at Aston! LOCATION...

*Leading your way to happiness?*

Advantages: Great book, well written gets into the heads of a teenager really well
Disadvantages: only really for a 15-19 year old target group of readers

...written book by Kate Cann and I love how she gets into the mind of teenagers really well. Most girls (and boys) my age and slightly younger can probably relate to this and understand what's going on, which makes you feel as if you are those characters in the book, being pulled in by everything. It's not my favourite book but it's a good summer read for mid-late teenagers to read and it's one that is hard to put down. Kate Cann writes beautiful books for teenagers and I love every one of them, and this one doesn't disappoint either. Leader of the pack is available in most bookshops and the RRP's at £6.99 however I think I bought my copy from book superstore for £3, so shop around to get the best deal. Overall I give this book a 8/10 as I am getting a little older now and moving out of these types of books and it was hooking...

Excellent atmosphere and accommodation

Advantages: Close to N Forest attractions, excellent service, quiet location
Disadvantages: Not much parking space at front.

...There aren't enough words to describe how wonderful this place was - we spent a weekend there with our toddler and friends. The owner was extremely accommodating regarding children, we were given the larger room to fit our travelcot, and bedding was provided. If memory serves, I believe they were able to provide a travelcot themselves, but we brought our own just in case. Our friends stayed in the room downstairs, and the communal area / lounge was available for us to use at any time after breakfast (the tables etc had to be cleared away). That was ideal for us as we were not able to go out in the evening with a toddler in bed, so we were welcomed to bring our own wine and snacks and chill out with our friends in the lounge, with the baby monitor on while our son was safely asleep upstairs. The cottage is a bautifuly converted family...
