Boom attack with the cannon
Advantages: fun
Disadvantages: nana might get attacked
...Come on lets attack the castle I have the playmobil dragon knights and their cannon. It's my grandsons really.
This toy is suitable for those children aged 4 years and over my grandson 6 still enjoys playmobil and will do for quite a time.
This big Bertha cannon and its knights costs about £10 .00p. http://www.kiddicare.com has it for £8.99p, John Lewis for £8.75p http://www.charliesdirect.co.uk/ is selling for £7.82p http://www.hamleys. Are selling for £10.00p.
Included in this set is the cannon of course and a cannon ball also 2 Dragon nights resplendent in their amour and helmets. There is a pennant with the Dragon coat of arms which fits over the cannon.
Be warned the cannon although not huge does really shoot it will knock down castle walls or a pile of bricks. The cannon ball will also fire into Nana accidentally...

Cannon Hall, South Yorkshire
Advantages: Free, lots of history
Disadvantages: None for me
...I am often amazed just how many major attractions there are within my local area that I have yet to visit and until very recently Cannon Hall, near Barnsley in South Yorkshire was one such example of a place.
Cannon Hall is a grand country mansion that is located on the edge of the picturesque village of Cawthorne. Cawthorne lies approximately seven kilometres to the east of Barnsley's town centre and is roughly halfway between junctions 37 and 38 of the M1 motorway. A bus that departs from the central interchange every 30 minutes serves Cawthorne if you are visiting by public transport, but it is then a good 10-15 minute walk from where the bus terminates to Cannon Hall itself. It is however a very pleasant walk that will take you past some of the most affluent houses in this part of Yorkshire, the sort of dwellings that even...

Famous cars in Keswick
Advantages: get to see famous and one-off cars up close
Disadvantages: no cameras allowed
...This place is a hidden gem! You wouldn't think of Keswick as being a tourist destination that attracts car enthusiasts, more the sort of place for hillwalkers, cyclists, lazy walks in the country....
One of the other museums in the town is dedicated to pencils for goodness sake! But This one is a cut above the rest. Granted it is not very big, and they don't have the space to display all of their vehicles at any one time, but you are always guaranteed to see a good few of your favourite cars from the movies and tv programmes.
The museum is easy to find, as is signposted in several parts of the town, and is located only a minutes walk from one of the main car parks. This makes it an ideal part of any excursion to this part of the lake districts, especially on days when the weather is not so good.
The time I was there, the cars...

My Cannon can, and does
Advantages: self cleaning,convector oven
Disadvantages: none
...I've had my Cannon Oxford cooker, for about 4 years now, and accept for one minor mishap, which was my fault, 'I broke the door handle'. It's as good today as the first day I brought it, and in fact still looks just as new, 'Honest'
By the way after breaking the door handle, I was able to replace it the following day from our local dealer, at very little expense.
It's a very basic gas cooker, no fancy gadgets, split level, freestanding cookers, which fits in nicely with the standard kitchen worktop height. A glass top lid, with fancy white inlaid pattern,
4 ring burners adorn the cooker top, one large and one small, front and back, three basic heat settings, high, medium and simmer,
There is a minute minder dial on the front of the cooker 1-60 mins, this where you will find all the cookers controls, including oven, and ignition...

Cannons - West Byfleet
Advantages: Low cost, very friendly
Disadvantages: Too few classes
...I read the previous review and think it needs an update! I joined Cannons West Byfleet in November 2007 - the refurb is complete as far as I am aware. The lockers are fine, showers no less reliable than other clubs, the air con works OK and the bar/cafe area is much more pleasant than it used to be!
Classes are busy but there are fewer of them than at some clubs (I moved from David Lloyd Brooklands where there was far more choice) but the ones I have tried (pilates, yoga and body balance) are great.
The prices have come down since the previous review - we pay around £106 all up for a family for the month - which breaks down to something like £48 per adult and £5 each per child for peak membership (less than half what David Lloyd were charging us!)
The gym is not the best around - with low ceilings and a fairly restricted...

D'YOU THINK I CAN(NON) COOK ANY BETTER, NOW?
Advantages: A gas hotplate which gives instantly controlable heat.
Disadvantages: So far I haven't encountered any disadvantages.
...and two simmering. I personally can't find much difference between them except the sizes. Two burners are 3" in diameter and two are 4" in diameter.
There are two cast iron pan supports which cover all four burners.
Cannon advise that pans with diameters between 4" and 9" should be used on the hotplate and that pans should be sited centrally over the burners.
I have used a Paella pan with an 11" diameter on the hotplate several times and not encountered any problems.
Each burner has a spark ignitor for lighting the gas.

I've found that cleaning the cooker is fairly easy and straightforward.
After allowing the cooker to cool, I find that hot soapy water and a cloth with a good dose of elbow grease works well on all the surfaces...

cannon Fodder
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...Cannon Fodder is one of the those classics which doesn't rely all the fancy 3D graphics, movie-like sequences, or oversized structure of so many new games (though incredibly this new version does include full motion video!). Instead it harks back to an era when gameplay came first. Just the sort of thing that discerning Gameboy owners can't get enough of, in other words. Sporting a neat cartoon look, Cannon Fodder is nevertheless a game of surprising subtlety, mixing arcade-style action and wonderfully immediate controls with a design that demands players form real strategies as they progress through a series of ever-more lethal warzones, doing their utmost to keep their soldiers alive and well.
With 72 levels, some forty times the size of the Gameboy screen, and a range of military hardware including jeeps, helicopters, bazookas...

Keswick
Advantages: Fresh air and good food
Disadvantages: Rains a lot
...Beneath the beautiful Skiddaw Mountains and the placid shores of Derwent Water nestles the picturesque town of Keswick. Indeed you look you cannot help but be impressed by the imposing majesty of the surrounding countryside which ever way you look.
To get to Keswick by road perhaps the easiest way is via the M6 to junction 40 (Penrith) and then a short journey of perhaps 20 minutes down the A66. If you travel by rail then go to Penrith and from there a local bus into Keswick.
On arrival at Keswick you will find that there are plenty of car parks which are well sign posted but beware the one at the local supermarket which imposes a charge of £5 if you stay for more than three hours, and as there is so much to see believe me you will.
Walking through the town I found much to my surprise that I didn’t see any fast food...

Like going back in time
Advantages: Clean, decent breakfast, quiet, comfortable bed
Disadvantages: Car parking, receptionist, dated room, menu
...I needed to be in Workington earlier in the week for business & decided to stay over the night before in Keswick about 35 minutes driving time away. I've driven through Keswick before but never had the chance to see this charming little town so I decided to find a hotel or guest house in the area.
Easier said than done, I contacted five separte privately owned guest houses either by phone or email, no one answered the phones so I left messages. Of the five I contacted, one came back to me by email the following day with nothing to offer, one answered my phone message three days later & the other three, well who knows, what an incentive to stay there!
I contacted www.laterooms.com who found me a room at the Queens Hotel in the centre of Keswick for a modest £40.00 for one night including breakfast.
On the day I travelled from...

Superb hotel - Stunning location
Advantages: Friendly and efficient staff
Disadvantages: None!
...I have just returned from a fantastic visit to the Lake District staying just outside Keswick
Having previously stayed in Keswick itself at the Skiddaw Hotel, which I have previously reviewed, I decided that this time I would like a more rural location. I decided to stay at the Skiddaw's sister hotel, the exceptional Lodore Falls hotel.
Location
----------
The Lodore Falls hotel is located overlooking Lake Derwentwater in the Borrowdale Valley which is in the North Lakes area of the Lake District and is part of the Lake District Hotels Group. It has views of Loughrigg and Helm Cragg
It is built of traditional Lakeland Slate and has been there for over 200 years. Standing in over 40 acres with both lake frontage and the dramatic backdrop of the stunning Lodore Falls and the surrounding mountains I could not have wished...
