...I wont go into any technicality with this camera,i will say that i am a semi pro photographer that posess the canon eos mk 3 and the canon eos 400d as a general back up.The canon eos 50e will take pride of place in my equipment arsenal as a film camera. I have had this camera for several years and some of my work from this has been exhibited.I like the overall design,ease of use and the robust feel.It has travelled extensively also with me. I agree with the other reviews that the battery grip is a must as it really gives a good strong feel in the hand and adds weight which i like.Dont use cheap batteries as they dont work which i found out while in Norway.Invest in a good medium sized camera bag for this camera with the battery grip. I rarely have used the built in flash and i never use the auto features with exception...

Possibly the best lens I own for my DSLR - The Canon 50mm F/1.8

Advantages: Lightweight, cheap
Disadvantages: None

...This is possibly the best lens I own for my Canon EOS 30D DSLR. (And for £65 what a bargain!) This is an incredibly light lens, and as I understand it, it is made entirely from plastic. It might feel a little too light, but believe me, it's a well constructed lens which yields fabulous results. It's also very cheap in comparison to other prime lenses, and I would consider it much better value for money than the 50mm f/1.4 As a prime lens, 50mm fixed, f/1.8 it can be used in relatively low light without a flash since it lets so much light through to the camera... Shorter exposure times means your subject has less time to move. It also has a pretty shallow depth of field, so a perfectly focussed subject can have a wonderfully blurred background. The tiny box this comes in contains the lens, front and rear caps, and a small leaflet...

...The 50E is an old fashioned Single Lens Reflex camera (that's look through the lens to you and me) which has been around for 5+ years now. It is know as the Rebel in the US and other countries but is basically the same. The camera would be an excellent budget buy for a beginner, or a good second hand buy for those wanting a cheaper option or second camera. It can come with a range of lenses - depends on package/store. I bought this with a 35-80mm Canon USM lens and later bought a 35-300mm Tamron lens to enable all shots from one lens. Canon Lide 50- 12 months on

Advantages: fast, good resolution, good value, software bundle
Disadvantages: none to think of

...I bought the Canon LiDE 50 scanner just over a year ago, to replace an aging and very slow USB 1.1 model from an alternate manufacturer. Speed + resolution were my main initial requirements, as was a compact design. At the time of purchase, there were very few USB 2.0 [or Hi-Speed, Enhanced USB depending on your 'Device Manger' listing in Windows] compliant scanners, and the price was very fair [£70 including VAT and delivery]. Software very useful to install and a generous package supplied, including a full version of Adobe PhotoShop Elements 2.0 [OEM version, no manuals but who cares at that price] a reasonable OCR application, CanonScan tool box and more [the others I haven't bothered to install so will not comment on them]. First reaction to removing the scanner from the box was ' wow, it's so sleek?. I could fit 3-4 Canon...
