Canon EOS 450D - Superb!

Advantages: Extremely easy to use, fantastic picture quality, long battery life.
Disadvantages: I haven't found any!

Canon Quality

Advantages: Same Canon quality we have come to expect, great ISO capabilities.
Disadvantages: Buttons can get fiddly in the cold.

At just 3.4fps up to 170 Jpegs, is not great when compared to similar models and is not sufficient for getting the right moment at fast moving sports. 5fps would have been more acceptable at this price band. The ISO is where this camera shines; it goes right up to 3200 expandable to 12800. As it uses Canons renowned sensor system images are more than usable even when you shoot at the thick end. The LCD screen used on this camera is 3.0? and also includes live view, which can only be expected. This screen is more than large enough on this relatively small body. The AF system is very fast with the kit lens and works quietly. The amazing DIGIC 4 processor also features in the 500D. The Canon EOS 50D superb image quality.

Advantages: Superb image quality, well built, High resolution, low noise, Excellent spec.
Disadvantages: Only minor gripes, no CF card included, large and heavy compared to some.

Review of Canon EOS 50D

A slightly less explosive Canon.

Advantages: Typically good Canon images.
Disadvantages: Poor flash and feels a bit flimsy.

...Canon along with Nikon have for years been known as the kings of camera`s but with things changing rapidly in the DSLR market Canon had to think fast. All of Canons recent releases have been at the expensive end of the market and they have been rapidly losing ground to the likes of Nikon and the new kids on the block (Sony). The release of the Canon EOS 1000D in June this year (2008)was an attempt to get back in the entry level market and whilst I think it should have the desired effect I am still not convinced they have done enough to tempt people away from the less expensive Sony option. Many people myself included thought that the new Canon would just be a fresher version of the Canon EOS 400D and the only stand out feature available on this 1000D that the 400 did not offer was a live view, so were Canon trying to pull the wool...

...This is a good quality product that offers good value for money in the very short term. Although as with most electronic products, the value will deteriorate over time and should be able to get a cheaper version next year. Review of Canon EOS D30

Living with a 5D after a 20D

Advantages: Full frame sensor, very high resolution, excellent operation
Disadvantages: Costs double the price of a 30D, hidden extra costs

...marks unless you shoot at f14 or higher - I noticed some on mine when shooting macro at f22. Another reason to buy the better L series lenses - they are weather-resistant designs with extra O-rings and so on. Battery performance is still very good but the 5D does eat it's batteries faster than the 20D did - probably down to extra image processing and the bigger LCD screen (that it shares with the 30D). LOOK OUT! I had a 3rd party battery that was fine in the 20D but was a fraction bigger than the true Canon battery and it got stuck fast in the 5D - so much so that I had to prise it out with a screwdriver! Use only Canon batteries in the 5D! Lens magnification - The big sell for me on the 5D was the 1:1 35mm sensor size. I own a 17-40mm f4 L and a 28-135mm IS lens. Luckily, I never bought any EF-S lenses for the 20D. You can't use...

canon 5d---- good or bad

Advantages: full frame
Disadvantages: new cameras have better features

...i have a canon 5d and has 12.8 mp full frame cmos sensor,9 points af, digic 2 processor, records raw/jpegs, compact magnesium alloy body etc. If you don't know the difference between full frame and cropped frame is that the full frame standard size is 35mm the cropped frame can range from sizes but smaller than 35mm. Obviously there new cameras that have new feature but if you want the cheapest camera that has good pro quality and also light and discreet this is the 1. I will say that it lacks in a few thing that the new cameras have like live view, auto sensor cleaning, hd video recorder, digic 4 processor, AF micro adjustment, quick control screen, built in flash, water dust resistance well better sealing....
