Living with a 5D after a 20D

Advantages: Full frame sensor, very high resolution, excellent operation
Disadvantages: Costs double the price of a 30D, hidden extra costs

...marks unless you shoot at f14 or higher - I noticed some on mine when shooting macro at f22. Another reason to buy the better L series lenses - they are weather-resistant designs with extra O-rings and so on. Battery performance is still very good but the 5D does eat it's batteries faster than the 20D did - probably down to extra image processing and the bigger LCD screen (that it shares with the 30D). LOOK OUT! I had a 3rd party battery that was fine in the 20D but was a fraction bigger than the true Canon battery and it got stuck fast in the 5D - so much so that I had to prise it out with a screwdriver! Use only Canon batteries in the 5D! Lens magnification - The big sell for me on the 5D was the 1:1 35mm sensor size. I own a 17-40mm f4 L and a 28-135mm IS lens. canon 5d---- good or bad

Advantages: full frame
Disadvantages: new cameras have better features

...i have a canon 5d and has 12.8 mp full frame cmos sensor,9 points af, digic 2 processor, records raw/jpegs, compact magnesium alloy body etc. If you don't know the difference between full frame and cropped frame is that the full frame standard size is 35mm the cropped frame can range from sizes but smaller than 35mm. Obviously there new cameras that have new feature but if you want the cheapest camera that has good pro quality and also light and discreet this is the 1. I will say that it lacks in a few thing that the new cameras have like live view, auto sensor cleaning, hd video recorder, digic 4 processor, AF micro adjustment, quick control screen, built in flash, water dust resistance well better sealing....

Canon EOS 450D - Superb!

Advantages: Extremely easy to use, fantastic picture quality, long battery life.
Disadvantages: I haven't found any!

The Canon EOS 50D superb image quality.

Advantages: Superb image quality, well built, High resolution, low noise, Excellent spec.
Disadvantages: Only minor gripes, no CF card included, large and heavy compared to some.

Review of Canon EOS D30

I wouldn't change it for the world.

Advantages: Fantastic picture quality.
Disadvantages: None.

...quality at lowish ISO's means that images can be interpolated up with east to suit the needs of most modern photolibraries. I also shoot alot of music gigs, and the low level light performance is great. You still get easily usable images at ISO3200, although this is an area where the new MkII apparently beats this version hands down - however the new version does cost twice as much! Another advantage to this camera is it's relatively small size. Being a small female I often find it hard to get my hands around the ergonomics of the camera which is my main reason for staying away from Nikons. This camera is perfectly suited for me in this respect, and of course for larger hands you can add the optional battery grip. Simply put, I wouldn't change it for the world....

Review of Canon EOS 300

A slightly less explosive Canon.

Advantages: Typically good Canon images.
Disadvantages: Poor flash and feels a bit flimsy.

...Canon along with Nikon have for years been known as the kings of camera`s but with things changing rapidly in the DSLR market Canon had to think fast. All of Canons recent releases have been at the expensive end of the market and they have been rapidly losing ground to the likes of Nikon and the new kids on the block (Sony). The release of the Canon EOS 1000D in June this year (2008)was an attempt to get back in the entry level market and whilst I think it should have the desired effect I am still not convinced they have done enough to tempt people away from the less expensive Sony option. Many people myself included thought that the new Canon would just be a fresher version of the Canon EOS 400D and the only stand out feature available on this 1000D that the 400 did not offer was a live view, so were Canon trying to pull the wool...
