Canon EOS 350D - He He !!!
Review of Canon EOS 350D by  a4angus

Advantages: Compact, fast, quality images
Disadvantages: Poor screen view in sunlight

...******************* Canon EOS 350D ******************* The time had come to bite the bullet and go completely digital. No, not me - just my camera. Out went film and folders. Out went my trusty old Canon EOS 50E, which had served me well for many years, and in came the latest toy. Already having a Canon S9000 photo printer (prints A3 size photo poster prints) and another compact digital camera, I was geared up for the change. That, and it *was* a new toy  There were 2 incidents that made me want to switch: (1) I returned from Hawaii a couple of years ago armed with 25 or so films ready for processing. After a £200+ Jessops bill to process, print and digitise these, just to see which ones I liked, it seemed like an expensive way to go forward. (2) At my wedding last year, we engaged an excellent professional photographer... Read review

Canon EOS IX 7 - APS Comes Of Age
Review of Canon EOS IX 7 by  BNibbles

Advantages: Flexibility of 35mm SLR with APS facilities
Disadvantages: Pricy if you are only interested in the APS aspect. Lenses slightly bulkier than the Nikon and Minolta SLR APS's.

...The Canon IX-7 is one of a fairly rare breed, that is to say, it’s a single-lens reflex (SLR) camera whilst also being an APS camera, with all the usual abilities such as three picture sizes that the film format possesses. For the uninitiated, there’s Classic (your usual 4:3 sized print), HDTV, (a wide-screen print using the whole negative) and Panorama, (which is really a strip from the middle of the HDTV print blown up to the same height as the other two, making it about 10” long) Minolta and Nikon are also in the same market, and if you are starting from scratch, you may want to check these out as well, for the simple reason that they have a range of dedicated, and, it has to be said, daintier interchangeable lenses. The Canon, however, uses the same EOS fitting lenses as its 35mm counterparts, which makes them... Read review

"Canon EOS400D" a jewel in a compact black box
Review of Canon EOS 400D by  bensalem

Advantages: Compact, .Hidh speed shooting. high resolution images.TVOUT connect...
Disadvantages: still be expansive

...I have got the opportunity to buy a wonderful digital camera from my relative working abroad in FRANCE. The" Canon EOS400D" is a pretty black box, lightweight of about 500grams ,compact and seems to be robust, with an 1.8/55 lens. The E-TTL II window displays you all informations about focal and distances. I was gone picking some landscapes and portrait views, lens and views are clean and it seems that that the EOS cameras had an integrated cleaning system that keeps its lens and micro electronics dustless and spotless automatically on each power on. An 2.5" LCD screen displays rich and well saturated images that allows you to enjoy and share instantly your picked views. Let the Camera work by itself with a high speed shootings of about 3 photos / second and continuous 25 to 27 sights in one shoot click. The EOS400d I bought... Read review

Canon EOS 1DS 11.1 Megapixel Digital SLR
Review of Canon EOS 1Ds by  Orrr83

Advantages: Full Frame sensor, (Practically) Indestructable, Weatherproof, Clean Images
Disadvantages: Expensive, Heavy, Now superceded

...The 1Ds is built to take the worst a professional photographer can throw at it and more, and still keep on going. Physically the camera weighs around 1.5kg without a lens, being made out of magnesium alloy and steel, thats understandable, and like canons other EOS 1 series the camera is heavily waterproofed, speaking to a photographer once who once, accidently of course, dropped his 1Ds into a river, retrieved it immediatly he found his lens damaged, but the camera shrugged it off, no marks or water damage. But what really makes people excited about this camera is it's CMOS sensor, using less power than a CCD, battery life is excellent, around 600-700 images. At just over 11 Megapixels the camera's resolution is among the highest on the market, almost 4 times the resolution of Nikons D1. The physical size of the sensor is the same... Read review

Canon EOS30V DATE
Review of Canon EOS30V DATE by  Bellboy05

Advantages: see below
Disadvantages: see below

...came upon this camera by accident. I was buying a spare camera for my wife who wants to take up photography. I was using a EOS1V. Then, I decide to shift to all manual. I am current using F3HP + FM3A. On every weekend, I like to go plane spotting. It is difficult not to use auto-focus camera for this purpose. This camera then become my tool! It has logged more miles than my Nikon now. I am seriously wondering, with the good experience of this 300v, should I purhcase the new EOS30V. I forgot to mention, I hate digital camera. 300V has many good advantages. It is light and ergonomic to hold (I have big hand, even without the battery grip, I still told this camera well) The kit lens, though look cheap and ugly, is actually quite good for general photography. Canon did a good job at packaging this 30v and put a rather futuristic look... Read review

Canon EOS 50E by Hubert de Paor ABPPA
Review of Canon EOS 50E by  HdPP

Advantages: solid camera, reliable and ease of use
Disadvantages: Never met any

...I wont go into any technicality with this camera,i will say that i am a semi pro photographer that posess the canon eos mk 3 and the canon eos 400d as a general back up.The canon eos 50e will take pride of place in my equipment arsenal as a film camera. I have had this camera for several years and some of my work from this has been exhibited.I like the overall design, ease of use and the robust feel.It has travelled extensively also with me. I agree with the other reviews that the battery grip is a must as it really gives a good strong feel in the hand and adds weight which i like.Dont use cheap batteries as they dont work which i found out while in Norway.Invest in a good medium sized camera bag for this camera with the battery grip. I rarely have used the built in flash and i never use the auto features with exception... Read review

Canon EOS400D a fantastic entry level DSLR
Review of Canon EOS 400D by  Sweetpea1075

Advantages: 10.2 mega pixels, good price, loads of settings, user friendly manual, auto setting
Disadvantages: None that I have come across yet

...I had been looking to upgrade from my trusty compact camera for some time, and after reading numerous reviews on entry level SLRS, I opted for the canon EOS400D and what a good choice it was. It has everything that you could want for you first SLR, and unless you are a top end professional photographer, this camera will pretty much suit anyone. I find it easy to use, and comes with a user friendly guide. There are several pre set modes and an auto mode as well as the programme and manual mode for when you get more experience and want to enjoy the flexiblilty of altering shutter speeds and aperture size. It can produce up to 10.2 mega pixels which is more than adequate, and for an entry level SLR, this is a lot higher than others I considered. The Canon EOS400D has become a bit of a clasic, and I am having so much fun... Read review

Canon EOS 350D!
Review of Canon EOS 350D by  Flatcat

Advantages: Body, images, Quality, Functions, Price
Disadvantages: Kit Lens

...are in focus and look great! There isn't much more to say on quality other than the saturation is good and the camera is good at deciphering shutter speeds and aperture, so give a good true to life photo. Overall I would say this camera is suited to amateur photographer and maybe semi pro's who want something nice and portable. Or those on a photography course for A-level and even beginning of a degree course. To conclude this is a great camera, good lens and a large range of accessories can be bough separately to improve its uses. Another Great Product from Canon Eos 350D link: http://www.canon.co.uk/forhome/productfinder/cameras/digitalslr/eos350d/index.asp P.s. I already reviewed this but this section i think is the proper one as its in the top 3 list! I just found out your not supposed to do this and I have emailed them... Read review

Canon EOS 400D
Review of Canon EOS 400D by  montmorillonite

Advantages: Low cost entry to Digital SLR photography. Compatible with all Canon Ef and Ef-s lenses
Disadvantages: Manual exposure fiddly, Kit lens good for cost, but not high-quality

...Review EOS 400d The canon 400D is a good camera - for the price it's a great camera. It's relatively compact; lightweight; comes with an adequate lens; has programmed settings for novices - like portrait and landscape modes; but also offers manual control of apertures, shutter speeds, white balance, ISO… so that the more experienced photographers can have fun and be a little more creative. One item to note if you are upgrading from a digital compact is that you have to use the viewfinder. The screen on the back of the camera only shows exposure information, and allows you to view photographs you have already taken. It does not let you view the scene you are about to photograph. In my opinion this is a good thing because it forces you to hold the camera properly - up against your face where it can be held steadily, instead of at arms... Read review
