Advantages: Ease of use, great pictures, good feel

The photos I have taken have left me open-mouthed in amazement that they come from a digital camera. I shot a wedding last week, and I would place a large sum of money that most people could not tell if it was film or digital. The only downsides I have to date are that firstly, the EOS 10d seems to sometimes have a problem with non-Canon lenses. However this problem is sporadic, and different users/cameras appear to get differing results. Secondly, be careful with exposure!!! Canon Powershot SX200 IS

Advantages: Lots of zoom, lots of pixels, sturdy
Disadvantages: No internal memory, flash pops up whether you want it to or not

...I bought this camera recently as I purchased a Canon EOS1000D DSLR and I wanted a compact digital with a large zoom for the times when I didn't feel like lugging the DSLR and all it's accessories around with me. I'd looked around at other models, and I know that there are many other cameras that offer a much higher zoom, but I finally settled on this one for a number of reasons. a) 12 million pixels. This is more than I'll probably ever need as it's very rare that I print anything above 8x10 but it was an upgrade on my previous digital compact. b) 12x optical zoom. A slightly less explosive Canon.

Advantages: Typically good Canon images.
Disadvantages: Poor flash and feels a bit flimsy.

All of Canons recent releases have been at the expensive end of the market and they have been rapidly losing ground to the likes of Nikon and the new kids on the block (Sony). The release of the Canon EOS 1000D in June this year (2008)was an attempt to get back in the entry level market and whilst I think it should have the desired effect I am still not convinced they have done enough to tempt people away from the less expensive Sony option. Many people myself included thought that the new Canon would just be a fresher version of the Canon EOS 400D and the only stand out feature available on this 1000D that the 400 did not offer was a live view, so were Canon trying to pull the wool...

Canon or a Brother ?

Advantages: Good print Quality

...This review is for the Canon Pixma IP4700. Setup --------- This printer comes inside a box which is heavily packaged and first off all you get the power cable. The cable is wrapped with this tie back but the problem is that when you unwind the cable you notice how it wants to try and curl back up again so you do need to try and straighten it out as soon as you can. You receive the disc which has the drivers on which you need to install on the computer otherwise you have no way of printing items off without it. There is nothing else inside the box besides the cartridges which are easy to insert and use. The disc is good because it is so simple to install the items onto the computer and this takes about a minute to do. You do not get a connection to the computer though so you do need to purchase one yourself and many websites...

A reliable and robust workhorse

Advantages: Strong body - has taken a fair few knocks but never failed me.
Disadvantages: Slow writes to CF card, visible pixel noise at 400 ASA.

The autofocus has more difficulty finding focus than my old (film) EOS 5 models, but I've got used to that. The only lens it wouldn't accept from the ones I used with the EOS 5's was a Sigma wide-angle, but this is a known problem and Sigma will modify their lenses free of charge. Although its 6 MP is modest by today's standards, this camera has let me take many exhibition standard photographs printed at A3 size. The arrival of an EOS 5D has now consigned the 10D to the role of backup body, but it still has its uses: unlike the new 5D it has a built-in pop-up flashgun enabling fill-in flash (I do not regard pop-up flashguns on an SLR to have any use as a primary flash), and the 1.6:1 effective magnification resulting from the smaller sensor...
