Canon Quality
Advantages: Same Canon quality we have come to expect, great ISO capabilities.
Disadvantages: Buttons can get fiddly in the cold.
... Canon 500D
Introduction
Canons range of cameras is very impressive. Everyone can be accommodated for, there really is something for everyone.
Camera Itself
First off, the camera. The sensor on this model has a larger pixel count than many of its rivals and cheaper models in the range. The 15.1 megapixels on offer is more than enough for the market it is aimed at, these images will easily be blown up above A3 and still retain most of the detail. The new addition to this camera that sets it apart from the older models is the Full 1080p movies. Many photographers don?t like this new mode but if you don?t, then simply don?t use it. Having the functionality of a high quality video camera on family holidays and such will be welcomed by the enthusiast market at which this is aimed toward. One problem I found...

Canon
Advantages: Cheap and simple
Disadvantages: None
...This is a good quality product that offers good value for money in the very short term. Although as with most products of this type, the value will deteriorate over time and should be able to get a cheaper version next year. It's a great device with plenty of features that I would highly recommend. This really is a wonderful piece of kit that should go well with many accessories because it really looks good. After using this product for a few months I have not so far come up against any reliability issues but only time will tell. I therefore would recommend the product. However, always think carefully as to whether you actually really need something before you buy it. We buy so many things nowadays that we don't really need.

Canon Speedlite 430EZ (not listed) NOT the 430EX!
Advantages: Readily available second-hand; many features; easy to use;
Disadvantages: DOES NOT WORK WITH DIGITAL CAMERAS
...This flashgun wsa widely sold up to about 5 years ago as the 'solid workhorse' of the Canon Speedlite range. Much cheaper than the top-of-the-range 540EZ, it has an excellent Guide Number (GN) of 43 (100 ISO film, in metres) and has a range of up to 20m or so.
It comes in a vinyl pouch with clear-easy to understand instructions.
It uses 4x AA size batteries, and don't consider using ordinary batteries unless you have a deep bank balance, as they do not last long. Rechargeables not only recharge the flash much more quickly, but you get 50 or so flashes from a fully-charged set. I used to use rechargeables (2 sets) with a spare set of AA batteries as back-up - for, when taking flash shots of (school) theatrical productions, it would be quite normal for me to take 150 shots in an evening. In case anyone wonders, these were taken...

Canon Powershot - Above Average
Advantages: Nice for a small camera, Good settings, Nice overall camera
Disadvantages: Noise @ Low light, Batterys recognised as empty
...,
the powershot is very easy to use, its nice to hold and your hand is positioned well for all types of use, the screen is clear and a non digital viewfinder makes it very nice to use although this is not as accurate as you would expect, it has a button on the front which seems a bit out of place but im pretty sure its supposed to evaluate white balance,
This camera hasn't been advertised as a very durable camera or a waterproof one, but a few light splashes of rain didn't do it any harm and it has held together after a few bumps, it does show paint scratches though, its case is a hard plastic and is quite seamless,
Canon have done a good job at designing this camera, it boasts as a camera that is compact enough for a pocket and also has the usability of a bridge camera, the small bump on the left gives you great grip and gives space for two AA...

A slightly less explosive Canon.
Advantages: Typically good Canon images.
Disadvantages: Poor flash and feels a bit flimsy.
...Canon along with Nikon have for years been known as the kings of camera`s but with things changing rapidly in the DSLR market Canon had to think fast. All of Canons recent releases have been at the expensive end of the market and they have been rapidly losing ground to the likes of Nikon and the new kids on the block (Sony). The release of the Canon EOS 1000D in June this year (2008)was an attempt to get back in the entry level market and whilst I think it should have the desired effect I am still not convinced they have done enough to tempt people away from the less expensive Sony option.
Many people myself included thought that the new Canon would just be a fresher version of the Canon EOS 400D and the only stand out feature available on this 1000D that the 400 did not offer was a live view, so were Canon trying to pull the wool...

A Canon that lacks firepower.
Advantages: Easy to use, well built and looks good (in silver at least)!
Disadvantages: Poor image quality in some lights and not great value for money.
...Canon has been producing great quality cameras since Jesus was a lad, both in the compact digital and the DSLR market. Their cameras regularly combine great looks with awesome technology and performance and the Canon IXUS 980 IS follows that pattern, well as long as you buy it in silver it does because the black version just isn't as good looking by far.
This point and shoot digital camera has a huge 14.7 megapixels and it uses Canon's latest DIGIC 4 processor, it allows simple automatic operation or can be used on almost full manual controls giving the user a real opportunity to take their photography to another level.
Unlike most digital point and shoots this offering from Canon has a full metal body rather than the cheap plastic we have all had to become used to, it feels great in the hand even for a professional like me who is...

Deus Ex
Advantages: Gameplay, diversity, replay value
Disadvantages: Graphics
...Deus Ex is set in 2052 though this year is not revealed in the game it is revealed in the sequel. You are a UNATCO (United Nations Anti-Terrorist Coalition) agent improved by the use of nano-augmentation. The Grey Death, an infectious disease, is slowly wiping out the population and there is a limited supply of the vaccine. This limited supply means only those deemed to be of use are receiving it i.e. government personnel, scientists, the influential rich etc. As you may have guessed, the people on the ground are far from happy about this, rioting has become commonplace and terrorists are on their side. UNATCO exists to enforce peace.
This game does not have one simple plot, there are many detailed subplots which keep the players interest throughout the entire game. Keeping in line with this, the game has more than one possible ending...

So glad to be back to a Canon!
Advantages: Small, tough, simple and fast to use
Disadvantages: A little expensive
...First of all let me explain that I'm actually reviewing the Canon IXY 210 IS. It's the exact same camera, but the name and model number are for the Japanese market.
Second of all let me mention that I only take photos to remember places I've been or nights out, I know nothing about photography and so will not attempt to explain anything technical. This review will compare with other cameras I have used, my experience is somewhat limited.
So, a little history. I first owned a little 2MP Sony camera, it was tiny and nice to look at and the photos weren't too bad. Later I upgraded to a lovely little Canon IXUS I, I got on with it very well and produced what I considered to be some decent photos. Then somebody stole by beloved little IXUS and I was forced to buy a new camera. What came next was some Konica Minolta dimage thing that I...
