Canon Speedlite 430EZ (not listed) NOT the 430EX!

Advantages: Readily available second-hand; many features; easy to use;
Disadvantages: DOES NOT WORK WITH DIGITAL CAMERAS

...This flashgun wsa widely sold up to about 5 years ago as the 'solid workhorse' of the Canon Speedlite range. Much cheaper than the top-of-the-range 540EZ, it has an excellent Guide Number (GN) of 43 (100 ISO film, in metres) and has a range of up to 20m or so. It comes in a vinyl pouch with clear-easy to understand instructions. It uses 4x AA size batteries, and don't consider using ordinary batteries unless you have a deep bank balance, as they do not last long. Rechargeables not only recharge the flash much more quickly, but you get 50 or so flashes from a fully-charged set. I used to use rechargeables (2 sets) with a spare set of AA batteries as back-up - for, when taking flash shots of (school) theatrical productions, it would be quite normal for me to take 150 shots in an evening. Although as with most products of this type, the value will deteriorate over time and should be able to get a cheaper version next year. It's a great device with plenty of features that I would highly recommend. This really is a wonderful piece of kit that should go well with many accessories because it really looks good. After using this product for a few months I have not so far come up against any reliability issues but only time will tell. I therefore would recommend the product. Canon or a Brother ?

...This review is for the Canon Pixma IP4700. Setup --------- This printer comes inside a box which is heavily packaged and first off all you get the power cable. The cable is wrapped with this tie back but the problem is that when you unwind the cable you notice how it wants to try and curl back up again so you do need to try and straighten it out as soon as you can. You receive the disc which has the drivers on which you need to install on the computer otherwise you have no way of printing items off without it. There is nothing else inside the box besides the cartridges which are easy to insert and use. The disc is good because it is so simple to install the items onto the computer and this takes about a minute to do. You do not get a connection to the computer though so you do need to purchase one yourself and many websites...

...I bought this camera recently as I purchased a Canon EOS1000D DSLR and I wanted a compact digital with a large zoom for the times when I didn't feel like lugging the DSLR and all it's accessories around with me. I'd looked around at other models, and I know that there are many other cameras that offer a much higher zoom, but I finally settled on this one for a number of reasons. a) 12 million pixels. This is more than I'll probably ever need as it's very rare that I print anything above 8x10 but it was an upgrade on my previous digital compact. b) 12x optical zoom. This is more than adequate for general photography, any more and I think you do probably need a tripod. c) NB-5L Li-Ion Battery. A slightly less explosive Canon.

Advantages: Typically good Canon images.
Disadvantages: Poor flash and feels a bit flimsy.

...Canon along with Nikon have for years been known as the kings of camera`s but with things changing rapidly in the DSLR market Canon had to think fast. All of Canons recent releases have been at the expensive end of the market and they have been rapidly losing ground to the likes of Nikon and the new kids on the block (Sony). The release of the Canon EOS 1000D in June this year (2008)was an attempt to get back in the entry level market and whilst I think it should have the desired effect I am still not convinced they have done enough to tempt people away from the less expensive Sony option. Many people myself included thought that the new Canon would just be a fresher version of the Canon EOS 400D and the only stand out feature available on this 1000D that the 400 did not offer was a live view, so were Canon trying to pull the wool...

This limited supply means only those deemed to be of use are receiving it i.e. government personnel, scientists, the influential rich etc. As you may have guessed, the people on the ground are far from happy about this, rioting has become commonplace and terrorists are on their side. UNATCO exists to enforce peace. This game does not have one simple plot, there are many detailed subplots which keep the players interest throughout the entire game.
