Good Hardware, Bad Software
Review of Canon Laser Shot LBP 2900 by
HARioV
Advantages: good print quality
Disadvantages: bad software
...If you take a look at Canon LBP2900 you will see that this printer mimic HP LaserJet 1020 and HP LaserJet 1022, not only in the design but it take the SAME cartridge (Q2612A or 12A for short)....The seller tell me that and I saw that with my eyes
The top cover should have a sensor to tell you that the cover is closed so if you forget to open it the papers will not accumulate under the cover..
And if we compare it to HP LaserJet 1022 you will find that LBP2900 have no tray cover which prevent the papers from dusts (Canon LBP3000 have a tray cover).
LBP2900 produce good quality prints but this printer is an example for the product that you hate because of its software...
If you have a 64-bit system (like Vista64 or XP x64) or you are using Mac OS X then don't buy it, because there is no drivers for these systems, also there is drivers...

Canon Laser Shot LBP 2900
Review of Canon Laser Shot LBP 2900 by
Foxy1982
Advantages: Cheap, Reliable and produces high quality prints
Disadvantages: The odd paper jam
...Whilst talking to a friend a few months back, I mentioned I needed to buy a new printer as my old one had ceased working. My friend recommended the Canon Laser Shot LBP 2900 Printer, As that is what he had been using and said it was reasonably cheap to buy and did a good job. So the next day I went onto Amazon, Paid my £54.50 and waited for it to arrive.
Upon its arrival, I promptly went about setting it up, Now I was impressed it was small and compact and looked stylish with its monochrome finish.
For £54.50 for a reliable laser printer I thought great and thanked my friend for his recommendation. However, There was one minor problem, Now and then the paper gets jammed, This has happened with every printer I have ever used at sometime though, So I don't really see it as a big deal.
The LBP 2900 produces high quality professional...

The Laser Printer that speaks
Review of Canon LBP 800 by
dnh9
Advantages: easy to set up and run. Uses PC's own memory
Disadvantages: toner cartridges may be tricky to find
...I was somewhat startled when I first heard my printer talk to me. She had a cultured English accent and regaled me with phrases like "add paper to printer", "printing started", "printing complete". Or even "printer not responding" when I tried to print and had forgotten to switch the LBP-800 on. I found her quite comforting, though you may not agree, as I could see no way in the software to shut her up. It was the PC doing the actual talking, of course. You need a sound card and be attached to speakers. If you prefer, the CD ROM has drivers for various alternative languages including French, German, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Spanish.
I'd had an HP LaserJet 6L before, and found the Canon to gave noticeably lighter output by comparison. Print speed is also much faster than the 6L, but since the Canon uses the PC's own memory and I...

Great for the money and size.
Review of Canon Laser Shot LBP 5000 by
hazeydazey
Advantages: Colour, compact compared to other laser and fits on desktop, laser.
Disadvantages: Still quite large compared to an ink jet.
...I bought one of these babies because I hate inkjets and love laser. This was the only one I could really afford which was small enough to fit on my desktop and had colour.
Laser printers are better than inkjets because they give a crisp and professional look to word documents and spreadsheets. Even with a fine quality inject it still looks home-made unless it is on hideously expensive paper. Therefore the LBP 5000 it makes my assignments look great. There is always a slight shininess to the text and pictures which sends shivers down my spine with excitement.
It is generally understood that lasers are far better value for money on a long-term basis. When you replace cartridges in an injet they can cost £15 plus for each colour. A replacement toner cartridge for the LBP5000 laser printer is around £50, however they need replacing far...

Canon Fire Off A Good Printer
Review of Canon LBP 800 by
polydeuces
Advantages: Quiet, easy to use, reliable
Disadvantages: None
...was a budget printer and the S800 runs in at £300. The paper feeds in through the rear and before you can say ‘Wow that was quick and such good quality’ the printed page appears.
It has standard USB parallel connections and the paper feeder will hold about 100 pages. Setting up the printer is about as easy as it could be. The instructions are all perfectly clear and within minutes its ready to use. Once set up it also ease to use in day-to-day use . It is also as Bjork might say 'Oh So Quiet' in comparison with the cacophany of noise the old HP made. The Canon scores though in providing the best quality inkjet quality I have ever seen. It is practically at laser standard but without the exhorbitant cost. It is also good because the running costs of the Canon are reasonable too. The ink cartridges seem to last quite a good time...

ZAP! - Canon's LBP 1120
Review of Canon LBP 1120 by
Credance100
Advantages: Prints whole sheets in just seconds. Looks very modern and sleek. Little noise.
Disadvantages: None whatsoever.
...I recently got the chance to purchase a new printer for a friend of mine, he, having no internet access and wary of overpriced shops asked me to go online and find him a decent printer for under 150 pounds.
Having only bought two printers prior to getting the Canon LBP 1120 I wasn't entirely sure where to start, to combat my uncertainty I decided to shop around, seeking the finest price possible.
In the end my search brought me back to my usual shop for components, www.ebuyer.com. After around ten minutes browsing their printer section I came across the LBP 1120 Laser printer.
Canon in general have always served me well, being one of the only firms to charge a fair price for ink cartridges, my first printer, an Epson I found I had to shell out 20 quid just for a cartridge!
Such perks as a claimed ten pages a minute, plus some sort...

Epson R200
Review of Epson Stylus Photo R200 by
rik_uk3
Advantages: Cheap cartridges available
Disadvantages: possible build quality issues
...I recently bought the R200 as a colour backup for my Canon laser printer, and to print photo's from scans and a digital camera. The printer was well packed, but had NO usb lead to connect to the PC, OK, they are only a couple of quid but I would have thought epson could have included one (there is a USB connector on the back AND the front).
The printer is a lot wider than my Canon LBP660 and does not appear to be as robust in build, only time will tell. The R200, uses 6 different ink cartridges which you can pick up cheap online which is a real bonus.
Output is a very health 5760dpi, and the quality of photo print is suberb, even from images captured with a humble 1.3 mega pixel fujifinepix (even better with my fuji 4mp). A nice touch is the ability to print onto "printable surface" CD's and DVD's, which are loaded into the printer...

Lay Out More For Cheaper Prints
Review of Canon LBP 660 by
BNibbles
Advantages: Low running cost per page of print - not fussy about paper, and toner approx. £35 p.a.
Disadvantages: Slightly dearer to buy and only monochrome.
...NOTE: THIS IS A COMPLETE OVERHAUL OF A MUCH SHORTER OP I WROTE ABOUT A YEAR AGO.
I have been using my Canon LBP-660 in a home office environment for over three years so don’t expect this to be a current model any more. However, much of what I am about to say could apply to any entry-level laser printer, Canon or not.
A lot of people will think that, because they need a printer including a colour capability, that they must stick to an inkjet of some kind. Well, of course in the case of the colour requirement, they’d be right, since the cost of a colour laser doesn’t bear thinking about, unless it’s for corporate use, and the cost of not just competent but excellent colour inkjets is now very low.
What concerns me, however, is the running cost. I don’t think anyone who has an inkjet as their sole printer will argue with the fact...

Would definately buy again
Review of Canon LBP 1120 by
C.Laslett
Advantages: Cheap, easy to use and install
Disadvantages: Doesn't seem to warn you when toner is low
...to reinstall (totally the computer's fault) and couldn't find the disk. Support from Canon (telephone) was excellent and the software can be downloaded online.
There is no LCD screen but most functions can be dealt with through the pc-based monitor. I don't seem to have figured out a way of knowing when the toner is low though so make sure you have a spare on hand. I didn't and had to spend 3 days waiting for the mail-order toner to arrive! My local PCWorld doesn't stock the toner for this but it was very easy to buy online (cartridge monkey, viking direct, amazon all stock it). Prices range from £30-£50 a time so shop around. Each cartridge supposedly does around 4000 pages.
When you switch the printer on, it doesn't take long (just a few secs) before it starts printing. A lovely funky blue light on the front lets you know it's switched on...

Printer suited for students!!
Review of Canon PIXMA IP1500 by
ilocboy
Advantages: Small, Easy to move around!
Disadvantages: Slow printer if you print a lot!
...The Canon Pixma was the first printer I ever bought. I used it to print my school projects and mainly my report papers. It works great but not as fast as laser printers. Sometimes after you're done printing you have to wait a couple of seconds for the ink to dry out.
The printer uses a standard canon ink cartridge, it's very small so you have to constantly change it every so often if you are always using it.
I highly recommend a Laser printer if you need to print many documents and a laser printer is well suited in a fast-paced, working environment.
But if you're just a student like I am you can use the Pixma IP1500,
It does the job well.
ALSO the Canon Pixma is also good for printing coloured photos, and envelopes, ETC.
The Canon Pixma also comes with a printing software and photo editor. However you may have to purchase ADOBE...
