Canon EOS 1D MKIII - I wanted one for 2 years

Advantages: Fast writing, low light/high ISO setting, huge screen, robust
Disadvantages: Auto focussing

A lovely combination and the results are outstanding. The down side - I didn't need to wait for the four months to realise that the autofocussing on this camera takes some getting used to. On occasions where I cover sporting events, I have found that despite playing with a number of different focussing modes on the 1D, I get better focussing accuracy when using the 20D and 5D models, both used by our team of wedding and event photographers. Review of Canon EOS-1D Mark III

Canon Powershot SX1 IS Not as good as I expected

Advantages: a point and shoot 20x lens, reasonably good LCD screen
Disadvantages: image quality not great, pretty useless viewfinder, can be overly complicated to setup, CD manual

...The Canon Powershot SX1 IS seems to offer the impossible, read the reviews and it seems image quality is great, the lens has an amazing range of 28-560mm, its image stabilised, its got high quality move mode, ... Having taken about 500 pictures with it so far I am not that impressed. Take the camera out of the box charge some batteries add an SD card and see what you have got. The lens diameter is miniscule when compared to an SLR , nothing unexpected or revolutionary there then, so don't expect superb image quality especially in low light. Read the manual, er it looks ever so complicated, so lets try taking some pictures as I have already charged a set of batteries. There is the regulation set of modes, (P,Tv,Av,M,C) plus movie and a set of specials. So lets try Av (aperture priority) and shoot a squirrel in a reasonably well lit...

The camcorder produces excellent broadcast quality images and has full manual control over the image or can be set to full auto for less experienced users. Canon EOS 1DS 11.1 Megapixel Digital SLR

I considered buying a digital SLR but was put off by the price etc. I had been looking at large zooms for a while but I didn?t like the look of any and I had only just bought my A70. I then saw the Canon Powershot S1 IS in a magazine; it had 10x optical zoom, image stabilisation and 30fps video mode. It was all too tempting and soon got the better of my wallet!! I found it on the web for a reasonable price so it had to be done. When I received it I liked the look of it and although feeling awkward initially it began to fall into place soon enough. The zoom is fantastic as it can get you right into the action or the scene and with image stabilisation (IS) you don?t have to worry about keeping totally still as this takes care of it for you. Review of Canon PowerShot S1 IS

  A Canon that lacks firepower.

Advantages: Easy to use, well built and looks good (in silver at least)!
Disadvantages: Poor image quality in some lights and not great value for money.

...images and the function on here works quite well and will allow you to hand hold without blur at almost full zoom and at shutter speeds of about 1/80th of a second whereas without it you would have to shoot at speeds of about 1/125th of a second to avoid blur. The zoom on this camera is not all that big at only 3.7x optical it is one of the smaller zoom lenses today but still offers enough manoeuvrability to be classed as useful and it can be used at full zoom without reducing image quality which a lot of larger zoom cameras cannot cope with. As with most compact cameras there is a video function on the Canon 980 but unlike many other compact cameras it actually works quite well. I am a great believer that cameras are for still images and cam corders for video but this camera does a decent enough job of videoing to be useful...

Canon or a Brother ?

Advantages: Good print Quality

...This review is for the Canon Pixma IP4700. Setup --------- This printer comes inside a box which is heavily packaged and first off all you get the power cable. The cable is wrapped with this tie back but the problem is that when you unwind the cable you notice how it wants to try and curl back up again so you do need to try and straighten it out as soon as you can. You receive the disc which has the drivers on which you need to install on the computer otherwise you have no way of printing items off without it. There is nothing else inside the box besides the cartridges which are easy to insert and use. The disc is good because it is so simple to install the items onto the computer and this takes about a minute to do. You do not get a connection to the computer though so you do need to purchase one yourself and many websites...
