MV 850i Canon. Camcorder
Advantages: PICTURE QUALITY
Disadvantages: IN BUILT CAMERA
...Canon MV 850i - camcorder - Mini DV
The cannon MV850i video camcorder had been recommended to me and when I first brought it I had no idea about these types of video cameras, it appeared to be quite technical at first with many different settings and other high tech facilities,
If you have your reservations of all the different controls and settings then just switch to easy mode, point and shoot simplicity; just aim your cannon MV850i digital video camcorder and shoot.
Fasten your seat belts with the splendid canon MV850i video camcorder, sometimes we find it hard to choose and if you're an armature like me at buying photographic equipment, then choosing the chic MV850i is far-flung from a gamble.
The canon MV850i digital video camcorder is the BMW of the camcorder world with its Leap forward
Through technology (Vorsprung Durch...

The excellent Canon MV20
Advantages: Small, light and feature packed
Disadvantages: Could do with a connection for an exterior mic.
...This fully featured digital camcorder has to be one of the best bargains around. Boasting a 48x digital zoom and Progressive scan CCD along with Red/Green/Blue primary colour filter this camera outperforms many cameras costing half as much again. Added to that is its impressive list of features such as the digital effects, photo mode and fold out full colour screen. However, the three things that really impressed me with this particular model were: 1. The patented Optical Image stabiliser. This is not a software trick, but a true stabiliser using a gyrosope-type device (I can't be sure of the technical details!). It is very good and helps to produce a watchable picture even when running. 2. The camcorder has a Canon lens. Obvious really, but then it is one of the most important parts of the unit and Canon lenses have always been superior...

Canon MVX200i - My choice of camcorder!
Advantages: Image Quality! and size
Disadvantages: well, it is £400 odd
...I looked long and hard before buying a camcorder ? I wanted to find a balance between price and image quality. My first choices were the Panasonic NVGS120 ? 3ccd at under £450, and the tiny Canon MVX20i and 25i. Both, I am sure, would have given a better picture quality, but the Panasonic had awful picture stabilisation and I just couldn?t hold it steady, while the canon 20/25i ran at least £600 ? a little more than I would chose to spend! Cameras are available for just over £100, but you just could not expect a really good quality picture for that price.
Which all led me to the Canon MVX200i.
The MVX200i is the bottom model of 3 options ? the 200i, the 200 and the 250i. All are basically the same (ie the same lens, casing etc) but the more you pay the more you get. The 250i offers additional zoom, a super + night mode, and things...

Canon MV600
Advantages: easy to handle, good pictures
Disadvantages: can't get my computer to recognise it
...This is a lovely little camcorder, easy to handle, easy to carry. It will fit inside your bag, as long as its a sensible size.
Ideal for anyone being to take recordings. The sound is pretty basic, but adequate for home use.
The zoom can be quite noisy if you don't control it gently, but other than that, no problems.
It is even good in the evening, it adjusts itself to night time filming and the results are not great, but pretty good.
It is easy to handle either by hand or on a tripod and it does fit on to most tripod fittings.
Its really great for family gatherings or outings, although I am wanting to use it to shoot footage to be edited. The disadvantage is that it uses DV tapes, and so can't be downloaded to the computer straight from the tape...at least I don't think it can be used like that.
My only problem is getting my...

Canon MV X330i
Advantages: Lightweight,Easy to hold, Connect direct to DVD Recorder
Disadvantages: Fiddly Menu Navigation,
...After a long trawl looking for a Mini DV Camcorder I eventually settled on the Canon MV X330i it had all the features I was looking for.
I found it relatively easy to use after studying the manual,
(have camera ready to use when reading its easier to follow)
although navigating the menu can be a bit fiddly, this is displayed on the screen and when not in use through the viewfinder, some features can only be accessed with the screen open ie setting and using the fader (6) different effects,
(which I use regularly)
The viewfinder I think would be greatly improved with the addition of a soft eyecup (to reduce light pollution) instead of the hard eyepiece it comes with, so i found it easier to use the screen
The 2.5" screen is a joy to use with crystal clear resolution in daylight or night, the camera produces excelent...

Canon's Wunderkid
Advantages: Read reiew
Disadvantages: PRICE, price, PrIcE, light, mics, grains
...The Canon HG21 is a high-class, high-definition camcorder. A number of top-end features make it one of the most flexible consumer camcorders going in the market. It does ?n? number of things and most of them without an error. Some times it makes you wonder can it make a mistake? It is so very flexible that it open to the risk of potential outlay on accessories. Its huge hard drive feels as it never going to exhaust.
CONTROLS
The HG21 gives enough space to bend your fingers in the ridge on the right hand side. The controls are so intelligently placed, the mode dial and the record button are under the right thumb with the stills capture button and the zoom rocker buttons placed right under the first finger. In fact most of the controls are placed on the 69 mm (2.7 in) screen bezel. On the back is located a small plastic cover...

Canon Quality
Advantages: Same Canon quality we have come to expect, great ISO capabilities.
Disadvantages: Buttons can get fiddly in the cold.
... Canon 500D
Introduction
Canons range of cameras is very impressive. Everyone can be accommodated for, there really is something for everyone.
Camera Itself
First off, the camera. The sensor on this model has a larger pixel count than many of its rivals and cheaper models in the range. The 15.1 megapixels on offer is more than enough for the market it is aimed at, these images will easily be blown up above A3 and still retain most of the detail. The new addition to this camera that sets it apart from the older models is the Full 1080p movies. Many photographers don?t like this new mode but if you don?t, then simply don?t use it. Having the functionality of a high quality video camera on family holidays and such will be welcomed by the enthusiast market at which this is aimed toward. One problem I found...

Canon DC10 - a reasonable camcorder
Advantages: easy to hold and easy to work
Disadvantages: image quality is poorer than other cameras
...DVD is undeniably superior to the ageing VHS tape format in the world of home movies, but you might be surprised to learn that the same is not necessarily true in the land of the camcorder. Though DVD camcorders offer a far more convenient method of storing footage, the output still lacks the resolution and vibrancy of tape-based MiniDV camcorders.
We won't pull punches on this issue. It's important to realise that while there are many benefits to the new DVD format, you must be prepared to compromise when it comes to editing your footage. DVD camcorders like the DC10 record video to DVD in a linear, permanent fashion. Mainstream editing packages like Final Cut Pro, Premiere and iMovie will not work with the DC10, you have to use Canon's proprietary editing suite. There are ways around this, but image quality is further degraded in...

Superb Entry Level Camcorder
Advantages: Easy to use, Compact, Excellent Quality, PC Friendly, Lightweight, Economically Priced
Disadvantages: Lack of included accessories, No external sound connections, No 'still picture' option
...I chose the Canon MV800 as a trusted brand name and for the proven quality of its predecessors. Filming a series of 'live' concerts proved a doddle with this camcorder.
First things first though, I would recommend purchasing additional battery packs and tapes as the basic boxed version only comes with a small battery and NO standard mini dv tapes. I also purchased a tripod with standard fitting which works fine with this camcorder.
The MV800 has a wealth of features including various lighting settings and manual focus options along with digital effects. The great thing about this camera, however, is the point and shoot auto mode which will cover 99% of a beginner's requirements and really is as simple as turning the camera on and pressing the record button. The impressive zoom function is easy to operate and the small lcd screen...

right camcorder for mum
Advantages: Ideal first entry camcorder, point and shoot, very easy to use, light
Disadvantages: basic model, no DV in, no built in light.
...I bought this camcorder for my mum, she had an old JVC which has been broken years ago but I knew she always enjoyed shooting family gatherings. I searched all the net and the shops for a simple point and shoot yet quality camcorder and that's I came up with. The only alternative I had to this model (considering the finances of course) was a Panasonic NVDS60B (http://www.panasonic.co.uk/product/digitalcamcorder/NVDS60B.htm if you'd like to have a look at) To be honest, I decided on this one because it was Canon, you know, Canon was the first word I learnt about photography. Anyways, let's get some technical from Canon website:
The MV600 series allows everyone from camcorder beginners, frequent travellers and families to select a camcorder most suited to their needs. Consisting of four models, each bringing users enhanced...
