A good scanner
Review of Canon CanoScan D660U by
djbpcs
Advantages: solid built good brand , high quality
Disadvantages: software some what lurky
...I was lucky to recieve this scanner from a friend. it is a good heavy (approx 2.5 kg witch is above average for most scanners) product. it is also from a good brand Canon. what i like is the fast scanspeed and even in the preview mode excellent results (most vanners deliver the preview quality of this scanner as final result. I have to say that i received it without the original software at first . downloaded the software from canon usa (because canon europe wants you to pay for every thing!)
the disadvantage is that the software standard is selected for film transprarant (yes , this scanner can scan 35mm negatives) and not glas (for normal scans) but after a search trough the settings mode a found the settign for glass or transparant
i also have a more modern canon scanner (lide20) but this one is much butter although you would...

Cannon Fodder 2
Review of Cannon Fodder 2 (PC) by
recieve3am
Advantages: New Levels
Disadvantages: Same as the first, gets boring
...In Cannon Fodder 2 (like in the original) the player controls a small
squad of soldiers on a battlefield that is viewed from above. The
game is split into a series of missions, which must be completed in
order. The game figures are moved and commanded with a mouse which is
also used to aim and fire the guns within the battle - imagine Dune II
type battles but on a closeup, grunt level and with a lot less icon
clicking - the player just points the cursor at the enemy figure and fires the gun with the mouse click.
The problem is it is exactly the same as the first game, no attempt has been made to make the gameplay more varied and as with the first the missions soon get repetitive, good to buy if you don#t own the first or are a big fan of the first, otherwise don't bother....

Canon Yellow Third party Ink Cartridge
Review of Print cartridge by
matty168
Advantages: Cheap, Does the job, Better for the environment
Disadvantages: Printing results are not very good
...This review is for the yellow Canon ink cartridge that i bought from my local ink refill store. I bought this as ink for canon printers can be extortinate so decided i would try and save on costs and try out third party ones. on first impressions, the only thing that appeared different from the original ink cartridges was the packaging. In terms of printing quality,it looked quite similar however when i started printing out more and more copies, the morethe quality degraded. The ink cartridge doesn't last as long either as the genuine ones. They also have a tendency to smudge and also do not dry as quickly. Overall i probably would not recommend them unless you are looking to use it very ocassionally...

Cheap, useful and easy to use
Review of Canon BJC 2000 by
pjm123
Advantages: Cheap, reliable, and good warranty from Canon.
Disadvantages: One disadvantage, its a little on the large side but this is not really very important. Also scanner cartridges are quite expensive.
...a good buffer memory, compared to many other printers I have had, and also comes with all the relevant software that you need, including extra 'bonus' software from Canon.
Many people don't realise this, but the Canon BJC-2000 can also act as a scanner! The results sre not as good as many purpose built scanners, but as an extra feature for a low - usage user it is excellent.
Also, the printer is great for those on a budget. I am a student, and bought the printer for £39.99, expecting much less for the pricetag. However, it beats many £100 printers I have come across, and is great for the purposes I intended it for. The ink cartridges themselves are very cheap too- I recently purchased 6 for £16 and these were Canon originals!
All in all, I would recommmend this printer who people who are after a good, reliable and cheap printer, especially...

Canon Ixus 60
Review of Canon Digital IXUS 60 by
StevenTreadway
Advantages: Great little camera, good value, better than a Casio!
Disadvantages: Can't think of any!
...Excellent Camera, great quality and portability. Takes great pictures easily with its controls easy to navigate. Its battery packs hold's a great charge and only takes about an hour to re-charge.
Originally thought to purchase a Casio Exilim but glad i chose canon. The lens quality is supurb, and photo quality remains great even when moving. Digital zoom quality is good and the optical zoom is also very good. Its size is also a bonus as can easily fit inside a pocket while being big enough to use easily with the buttons large enough and the lcd bright and clear. Also having a view-finder is good when battery is low or for users who still prefer to use one instead of the lcd screen. Overall excellent camera can't recomend more highly....

Excellent value and quality replacement cartridge
Review of Inkrite PhotoPlus PPCB005 - print cartridge by
Massey42
Advantages: Cheap, maintains print quality
Disadvantages: Loose ink level function, possibly invalidates waranty
...for this and many other new printers is the use of small circuit boards on the cartridge to monitor ink levels. For some reason Inkrite cannot copy these boards so the cannon ones have to be taken off the original cartridges. Clear illustrated step by step instructions for this are provided and is very easily done. After installing the new cartridge the printer detects that an empty cartridge has been put back in (because of the old circuit board) but after pressing resume a few times the ink level indicator is disabled and printing can be resumed. Unfortunately the window when printing no longer displays amount of ink left, but as far as I'm concerned this is a small sacrifice.
So far I have not been able to tell any difference in the print quality compared to the original cannon cartridge and they appear to be lasting for a similar amount of time...

Practical and portable
Review of Canon CanoScan N650U by
querth
Advantages: Small, no power required
Disadvantages: Lid design is limiting
...The Canon Canoscan N650 uses a USB 1.1 interface, drawing power from the host PC. This means no power adaptor making it very easy to move the scanner between computers.
Compared to my last scanner (a Umax Vista S6E) this one is tiny - not much bigger than an A4 page and about half as thick as a telephone directory. Its size and lack of power adaptor makes it great for use with a laptop on the move.
The scanner lid features what Canon call a "Z lid” - basically a hinge which allows thicker originals (up to 1inch, 25mm) to be placed on the scanner's platen. Unfortunately there's no way to remove the lid completely, but thicker originals can be dealt with by not closing the lid.
The scans it produces are good faithful reproductions of the originals with accurate colour rendition. Speed is not up to more recent models - I've played...

A good basic colour printer
Review of Canon BJC-620 by
izzwizz
Advantages: Good print quality, cheap to run
Disadvantages: Poor paper handling
...the machine, even with what must be 50,000 pages printed by now. The colours are good and very true to the original artwork. We still use this machine for printing all our CD covers because the print quality is so much better than our newer Canon BJC-6200.
digression...THE CANON BJC-6200
While I'm on the subject, please don't confuse this machine with the newer BJC-6200. For the BJC-6200, Canon sorted out the paper handling problem (see below), but lost the print quality and managed to come up with the worst printer software I have ever seen (yes, even worse than the BJC-620). I also have a continuing problem with the BJC-6200's USB lead that Canon support have been unable to sort out.
USES
We have used our Canon BJC-620 for printing: general letters, address labels, CD labels, CD inserts, floppy disk labels, T-shirt transfers, business cards...

Its War man!
Review of Cannon Fodder (PC) by
robertjake
Advantages: Great playability
Disadvantages: Hard to complete
...I absolutely love this game! Its a bit old now, and a little bit out of date, but it is still great fun to play. I first started playing the game a few years ago on my amiga, but I enjoyed it so much that I got it for the PC as well!
The game involves a squadron of soldiers which are under your command in various missions against the baddie. No surprise there. What is original though, is the game play as it is mouse friendly! Action is fluid and is based on move and clicking like in Command and Conquer. It is very tactical at times because you have to blow up buildings whilst covering your men from fire, and those baddies with rocket launchers!
This is a classic and is only bettered by Cannon Fodder 2. i reckon its a must purchase....

Still the best non AF
Review of Canon T90 by
powerful
Advantages: Absolutely everything in a non AF SLR
Disadvantages: still expensive secondahnd but worth it.
...The Canon T90 is no longer manufactured as a new camera, but is available secondhand. This and the F1 are undoubtedly the best non AF SLRs ever made, with only Nikon equalling them. The T90 is the powerful electronic SLR with on-board computer. It boasts a fast built-in autowinder, shutter speeds to 1/4000s and multimode metering. The multi-spot metering system ensures allows the photographer to select areas for spot metering and take several readings which are automatically averaged. This is the equivalent of Zone metering. The average, weighted average and spot metering systems allow the expert photographer to get his exposure exactly how he wants it.
The choice of automatic, manual, aperture priority and shutter speed priority control is superb (the latter makes use of Canon's original invention of shutter speed priority - where...
