...I have had my new Canon Pixma MP520 about 3 weeks now and have used most of the facilities on it so feel able to do some kind of review of it. I did a lot of research before buying this printer and so far it has lived up to the expectations that I have of it. The Basics *The Canon Pixma MP520 is a printer / scanner / copier all-in-one. *It has 4 ink cartridges - Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow - so if one colour runs out you only need to replace THAT colour - not like some printers where you have to replace the whole 'tricolor' cartridge. *Dimensions are 445 x 378 x 172mm. Out of the box ~ Canon supplies everything you need to get you up and running so with the printer you get power cables, ink cartridges, CD/DVD tray and set up disc. You'll need your own printer cable but this is standard USB connection so you should have one. Set up is straightforward and is just a matter of plugging everything in and turning on. Canon or a Brother ?

...This review is for the Canon Pixma IP4700. Setup --------- This printer comes inside a box which is heavily packaged and first off all you get the power cable. The cable is wrapped with this tie back but the problem is that when you unwind the cable you notice how it wants to try and curl back up again so you do need to try and straighten it out as soon as you can. You receive the disc which has the drivers on which you need to install on the computer otherwise you have no way of printing items off without it. There is nothing else inside the box besides the cartridges which are easy to insert and use. The disc is good because it is so simple to install the items onto the computer and this takes about a minute to do. You do not get a connection to the computer though so you do need to purchase one yourself and many websites...

The Canon PIXMA IP1800 and the end of the world

Advantages: Cheap and replaceable. Attractive and efficient technology.
Disadvantages: Ink costs more than the machine. Potential ecological mayhem.

...My new Canon PIXMA IP1800 replaces my Canon PIXMA IP1600 so the planet may be doomed and It could be my fault. My Canon PIXMA IP1600 had nothing wrong with it. It wasn't broken. The pictures spilled out on glossy paper at A4 ready for framing. The text was crisp and black. I'd had it for a year or so. It was cheap yet efficient and as good as any printer I'd ever owned. It had no tray to catch paper coming out but otherwise was printing perfectly and I've been delighted with it. This is partly why I bought the Canon PIXMA IP1800 which is also excellent. But why bother? They're almost the same machine! The ink is running out on my old printer and, bizarrely, new cartridges would cost more than a brand new one. My wife was furious. She looked at the packets of ink cartridges with a shop assistant because she didn't believe me...

  Canon Pixma mp 460 - Fantastic all in one

Advantages: lcd display, durability, optional Bluetooth connection, qualitys, speed, design, functionality, rich software, reliability
Disadvantages: could be litle smaller

Printer when on night mode is much quieter. Canon has a number of standard, automatic cleaning procedures: - standard cleaning eliminating unwanted smudges and lines in the print result - Deep cleaning unclogging nozzles that can not be cleaned by regular cleaning - Bottom plate cleaning which prevents paper smudges during printing - Roller cleaning gives smoother paper feeding Ink (Canon FINE (Full-lithography inkjet Nozzle Engineering) - 4-ink) Inks does what they should and offer realistic and really good quality print outs. Canon Yellow Third party Ink Cartridge

Advantages: Cheap, Does the job, Better for the environment

...This review is for the yellow Canon ink cartridge that i bought from my local ink refill store. I bought this as ink for canon printers can be extortinate so decided i would try and save on costs and try out third party ones. on first impressions,the only thing that appeared different from the original ink cartridges was the packaging. In terms of printing quality,it looked quite similar however when i started printing out more and more copies,the morethe quality degraded. The ink cartridge doesn't last as long either as the genuine ones. They also have a tendency to smudge and also do not dry as quickly. Overall i probably would not recommend them unless you are looking to use it very ocassionally...

Advantages: Easily obtainable, good value, recyclable.
Disadvantages: Really just the idea of it not being a genuine new original!

I bought it at the local Tesco Extra, after some research I found that they offered it at the lowest price, at £30. I also got 10% as they only had the display one left in store. However, as I bought it in store I did not get free delivery and had to carry it the 2 miles home, something I wont recommend if your arms get tired easily. It comes in a large box, and is well packaged so it does not rattle about in the box. You are provided with the Pixma MP190 printer, 2 ink cartridges (one black and one colour), setup CD-ROM, Printed documents and a power cord. Tesco Cheap Ink Cartridge

Advantages: Cheap, Does the Job

...I purchasd this this third part ink cartridge whilst out shopping in my local Tesco store for just under £3 which seemed like a bargain so i thought i'd give it a go. I've used other third party ink cartridges in the past so thought i'd try this one out too since Tesco seem to make everything now. As with all third part ink cartidges,the initial prints are good and of acceptable standard considering that they can cost up to 90% less than the genuine original ink cartidiges. However as you print out a few more,mthe quality degrades considerably and you'll also notice that the ink does not last as long as the original ones do. The print outs are also prone to smudging and take ages to dry properly compared to the originals and the ink dries up faster if you haven't used them for a long time.
