Canon Powershot SX200 IS

Advantages: Lots of zoom, lots of pixels, sturdy
Disadvantages: No internal memory, flash pops up whether you want it to or not

.... It's not as small as some compacts but if you manage to get hold of a Canon case then you can fit the camera, spare battery and a couple of cards inside it quite easily. It is 10cm wide, 6 1/2 cm high and 3cm deep (excluding zoom), and has a metal body which feels quite sturdy. It sort of curves outward on one side so you can get a decent grip and hold the camera steady. On the top of the camera body there is the on/off switch, dial with all the different modes (auto mode, easy mode, portrait, landscape, night snapshot, kids and pets, indoor, sunset, video, manual mode, aperture priority, shutter priority and program mode), and the shutter release button which also controls the zoom. ...I recently recieved a Canon PowerShot SX10 for my birthday, i am very pleased with the quality of this camera. The pictures that it takes are of wonderful quality and you don't have to wait on the delay like alot of those cameras out there. Ever since i recieved the camera i have started selling my pictures, and have actually been making money for pictures that i take when i'm bored simply because the quality of the pictures are so good. This camera is very sleek and stylish and fits in your hands like a camera should. It is very comfortable to use and i is also very lightweight and portable making it easy to move around with and not get tired of holding in your hands. This camera is extremely worth the money and i would definately say that if you are in the market for a new camera then this is the one for you....

Canon Powershot SX110 IS

Advantages: Lots of features
Disadvantages: Quite expensive

...Design The Canon Powershot SX110 IS is a pretty big camera compared to some on the market. It is around 11cm by 7cm and feels quite large in your hands, although this does make it feel sturdy and strongly built. Despite the size, it fits into your hands rather smoothly and is fairly comfortable to hold. It weighs in at around 300g which is quite heavy but once again makes it feel strong. It is too large to keep it comfortably in your pocket and so the wrist strap comes in handy. (A neck strap would be a nice addition though). I was told you can also purchase a pouch for it to clip on to your belt. You can get to the buttons, pop up flash light and battery space easily and they are all well made and strong. The battery space holds two AA battery's and they are easy to change compared to some cameras which are fiddly or the battery...

Canon Powershot SX1 IS Not as good as I expected

Advantages: a point and shoot 20x lens, reasonably good LCD screen
Disadvantages: image quality not great, pretty useless viewfinder, can be overly complicated to setup, CD manual

...The Canon Powershot SX1 IS seems to offer the impossible, read the reviews and it seems image quality is great, the lens has an amazing range of 28-560mm, its image stabilised, its got high quality move mode, ... Having taken about 500 pictures with it so far I am not that impressed. Take the camera out of the box charge some batteries add an SD card and see what you have got. The lens diameter is miniscule when compared to an SLR , nothing unexpected or revolutionary there then, so don't expect superb image quality especially in low light. Read the manual, er it looks ever so complicated, so lets try taking some pictures as I have already charged a set of batteries. There is the regulation set of modes, (P,Tv,Av,M,C) plus movie and a set of specials. So lets try Av (aperture priority) and shoot a squirrel in a reasonably well lit...

It took me time to decide

Advantages: Zoom, small size, picture quality, playback and review
Disadvantages: Screen display a little grainy, doesn't like fluorescent lights, no optical video zoom

...After 2 solid weeks of reading scores of professional and general public reviews on the Canon Powershot 200sx I took the plunge and bought it. As this was my first digital camera I was somewhat apprehensive, maybe the thing would be too complex or too expensive for an entry level camera novice such as myself to take. At £243 (before the £40 cashback offer, which took a month to arrive) perhaps a slightly older model model at £120-150 would've been a wiser purchase. I was not blown away by this Canon!

Advantages: Good build quality and easy to use.
Disadvantages: A lack of features, and not the quality you would expect from a 12 megapixel Canon.

...it is a canon and names in photography do not come much bigger than Canon but also it has the long title of the Canon PowerShot A1100 IS. This compact camera is taking compacts to a new level or at least trying to, with its 12.1 megapixel sensor and its optical viewfinder, trouble is the lens lets the sensor down and the viewfinder is a bit small for my liking so it is perhaps not so impressive after all, or is it? The first thing I noticed with this Canon in my hand was that it felt very robust and even a bit chunky, not good for a compact in some peoples opinion but for me a camera should feel like a camera and not like a credit card, and the better it feels in hand the easier it is to use. The buttons and controls on this unit were very easy to get to grips with and will not be too fiddly for those of you with larger fingers...

Canon Powershot - Above Average

Advantages: Nice for a small camera, Good settings, Nice overall camera
Disadvantages: Noise @ Low light, Batterys recognised as empty

..., the powershot is very easy to use, its nice to hold and your hand is positioned well for all types of use, the screen is clear and a non digital viewfinder makes it very nice to use although this is not as accurate as you would expect, it has a button on the front which seems a bit out of place but im pretty sure its supposed to evaluate white balance, This camera hasn't been advertised as a very durable camera or a waterproof one, but a few light splashes of rain didn't do it any harm and it has held together after a few bumps, it does show paint scratches though, its case is a hard plastic and is quite seamless, Canon have done a good job at designing this camera, it boasts as a camera that is compact enough for a pocket and also has the usability of a bridge camera, the small bump on the left gives you great grip and gives space for two AA...
