Canon's sharpest zoom is a rock, or brick
Advantages: Awesomely sharp. Wide Aperture gives great control. Great colour.
Disadvantages: A little fragile. Would prefer with Image Stabiliser.
...This is the professional photographer's portrait zoom lens of choice. The constant F/2.8 aperture across the zoom range provides excellent performance in low-light, and the best control over depth of field in any zoom lens on the market today.
Lens performance is exemplary. If you take the time to use the full time manual focus, pictures of exceptional sharpness can be achieved at any aperture. Some users complain of getting "soft" copies of the lens, but always refer to the excellent and free Canon service of calibration (within warranty). My own lens doesn't suffer from this, I have to say, and I do wonder whether some photographers claim that they're not getting a "sharp copy" when they're not taking the time to focus properly.
Commonly referred to as "the brick" amongst Canon users, this lens is noted for its heft. It weighs...

Canon
Advantages: Good Value Product
Disadvantages: Nothing so far
...This is a good quality product that offers good value for money in the very short term. Although as with most products of this type, the value will deteriorate over time and should be able to get a cheaper version next year. It's a great device with plenty of features that I would highly recommend. This really is a wonderful piece of kit that should go well with many accessories because it really looks good. After using this product for a few months I have not so far come up against any reliability issues but only time will tell. I therefore would recommend the product. However, always think carefully as to whether you actually really need something before you buy it. We buy so many things nowadays that we don't really need.

Canon EF-S 18-55mm Zoom Lens
Advantages: Cheap and light
Disadvantages: Grainy photo quality, low zoom
...I recently purchased a sweet Canon 400D/XTi Rebel from Amazon.co.uk (£45 cashback!) and this standard zoom lens (Canon EF-S 18-55mm) came with it.
As far as I know, you cannot purchase the Canon EF-S 18-5mm on it's own, as it's designed specifically to be sold with the 400D/XTi Rebel package. I'm sure you can pick up a cheap one on eBay though (probably removed from a kit package, or being sold due to an upgrade from kit package). I've seen the EF-S 18-55mm sell for around £25-£35 at undamaged/rarely used condition on eBay, which is quite cheap!
I obviously chose the kit lens package with my 400D/XTi Rebel as it only adds about £40 in the price difference, and I couldn't afford a new lens at that time.
Before I start reviewing the actual lens, I'd like to say that is is a kit lens. It doesn't have a great built quality...

Canon Digital IXUS I Zoom - AMAZING!!!
Advantages: Great photos taken quickly and easily, small and quite long battery life
Disadvantages: Has to be charged in dock
...A fantastic camera that has served me well for over a year now (and seems to have retained its value as I bought it for £180 last year)!
There are many things that make this a great camera - first of all it is available in many different colours and is ultra-slim and small in width, fitting into the smallest of pockets so there's no need for a case.
The quality at 5MP is enough for most users and it's fast start up time and ease of use means that the perfect picture is never missed! Short videos can also be taken and they are of good qualiy also.
Reviewing photos is very easy and zoom is available so details can be made out clearly. The battery life is excellent and has lasted me over a week whilst on holiday and to charge it only needs a maximum of 3 hours in it's dock.
Overall this stylish camera is great for anyone looking...

Prima -One of the Best!
Advantages: Covers many topics with affordable ideas
Disadvantages: You don't want to throw them out!
...Prima ? a magazine name known to many, and quite rightly so because Prima means first or leading and I feel it is a leading magazine in the area it covers and it certainly covers lots of areas.
It started back in October 1986, and although at that time I thought it was expensive I did buy it as there was always a free pattern and I made a lot of my clothes in those days, so it was a bargain. This magazine has moved with the times and is bang right up to date now and is one of the popular magazines sold at most newsagents, although many people have it delivered as this is a perfect start to your day ? or used to be when post came in a morning! Although probably not aimed at the younger end of the market it does have some articles suitable for all ages.
I always buy one at the airport at it is a magazine that you can pick up...

Canon Quality
Advantages: Same Canon quality we have come to expect, great ISO capabilities.
Disadvantages: Buttons can get fiddly in the cold.
... Canon 500D
Introduction
Canons range of cameras is very impressive. Everyone can be accommodated for, there really is something for everyone.
Camera Itself
First off, the camera. The sensor on this model has a larger pixel count than many of its rivals and cheaper models in the range. The 15.1 megapixels on offer is more than enough for the market it is aimed at, these images will easily be blown up above A3 and still retain most of the detail. The new addition to this camera that sets it apart from the older models is the Full 1080p movies. Many photographers don?t like this new mode but if you don?t, then simply don?t use it. Having the functionality of a high quality video camera on family holidays and such will be welcomed by the enthusiast market at which this is aimed toward. One problem I found...

Prima - just for old ladies?
Advantages: Loads of ideas for your home, lots of beauty advice
Disadvantages: Some of it aimed at an older audience
...I was given a 12 month subscription to this magazine as a christmas present from my husband. I must admit when I saw the subscription was for Prima I was a little disappointed as my general opinion of this magazine without ever really reading one before was that this was meant for older ladies, not a 25 year old!
However, my husband had also got me a subscription to Company, which is one of my favourites magazines so I thought,I'll read the first issue and if it's no good I will pass them on to my mum, it should be just up her street! (Bless him, hubby thought he knew which magazines I read, at least he got one right!)
When the first issue arrived I was surprised to see how modern it looked from the front cover! Maybe my first opinion had been wrong? As I leafed through the magazine I found that it had articles ranging from...

The Canon 10-20mm EF-S lens, perfect for landscapes.
Advantages: Excellent quality pictures, Useful wide angle range. Good build quality.
Disadvantages: No lens hood, Not compatible with all EOS cameras
...Introduction
The Canon EF-S 10-22mm f3.5-f4.5 USM lens is a high quality wide-angle zoom lens that is ideal for landscape, architectural and interior photography.
It is designed to be used with all Canon EOS cameras with an APS-C sized censor and an EF-S lens mount, it cannot be used with Canon full frame or film cameras, also some older EOS models will not accept this lens either.
To see if your camera is compatible with this lens, check your camera for the following.
All Canon EOS cameras have a red spot on the lens mount to denote the lens alignment for EF mount lenses, check to see if your camera has an additional white spot to denote the lens alignment for EF-S mount lenses, if it does, then this lens will fit.
Focal length
This lens has an actual focal length of 10-22mm, but because of the x1.6 crop...
