Excellent Printer From Canon

Advantages: Excellent Print Quality, Fast Printing, Reasonable Price
Disadvantages: None

...My printer had been playing up for a couple of months, I normally (99% of the time) only use it for printing in black for invoices, however I do occasionally print something off in colour and sometimes print a photo. It was missing one of the colours out now and again and so I decided it was time for a new one. Why Canon? My old printer was a Canon and although it was playing up it had served me well for about three years of constant use. I also think the design of the Canon printers is very good, I think they are far better to look at than most other makes and this is quite important when you are going to be looking at it everyday, sat on your desk. Review of Canon PIXMA iP4600

Canon MP620 All in one Printer

Advantages: Excellent Phot prints, excellent scanning, wireless capability
Disadvantages: Slightly bulky, wireless can be tricky to set up

...I bought this printer a few months ago to replace an old hp all in one which had lasted for a long time and sadly the print quality had diminished. With a large amount of options on the market I shopped around and came across the Canon MP620. It seemed to have all the features I was after including scanning, printing, card reader, photocopyer and wireless networking. Please note there are 2 other similar models in the range and as far as I know the MP610 is older and not wireless but slightly cheaper. Alternatively the MP630, which is more expensive is also not wireless but is faster in producing more prints per minute. So far, since using it I can report that the MP620 is an excellent all round printer. Great quality prints and excellent scanning makes it perfect for my needs. The wireless networking took a little time to setup...

Canon Quality

Canon MP 460 printer

Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: poor photo prints

...to print over 50 different photos. All of them were left looking like everyone had freckels and skin tones were next to useless. Definatly not ones you want to show anyone. Even when put through a cleaning cycle there was no difference. On the bright side, when you printed text using only black ink it was crisp and very clear right down to no 8 font size. Apart from the nice looking screen area it has nothing to excite me. After using the machine for a week I have took it back to the shop, why, because of the banding, lack of colour depth and a sqeek on the slide rail when the cartridges are going across. So not really impressed with this one. I would stay clear and pay more for a good printer. Canon has failed on this one I think....

Canon MP610 multifunction printer

Advantages: No seperate scanner unit. Seperate ink cartridges.
Disadvantages: you have buy your own bluetooth dongle.

With a lot of Canon printers, you have to fit a Printhead first. With the MP610 its no different. When you open the lid the printhead holder moves into the middle. The printhead fits in easily and locks down with a firm clunk of a little leaver. This cartridge is marked with the colours of the ink. They are easily fitted in and lock into place with a little plastic tag on the front of the cartridge. Thats that as far as they are concerned. Next you need to align the printer cartridges up. Canon PIXMA Ip3600 (Printer)

Advantages: Easy to use, affordable and fast
Disadvantages: No disadvantages were noticed

...I use the printer at work for various projects and it is superb. The color quality is excellent. It prints pictures and photos better than any printer I have used. The printing speed is fast and high quality. The printer is easy to use and easy to order supplies for. It is very reliable, I hardly have any paper jams with it and when I do it is very easily fixed. In the past I have used printers where when the toner runs out it is difficult to replace or order the correct replacement but not with this printer. Replacing items is extremely easy. This printer is a great value for the money considering the toners etc are not expensive as with a lot of other photo printers etc. I would recommend this printer to anyone....

Canon Powershot - Above Average

Advantages: Nice for a small camera, Good settings, Nice overall camera
Disadvantages: Noise @ Low light, Batterys recognised as empty

..., the powershot is very easy to use, its nice to hold and your hand is positioned well for all types of use, the screen is clear and a non digital viewfinder makes it very nice to use although this is not as accurate as you would expect, it has a button on the front which seems a bit out of place but im pretty sure its supposed to evaluate white balance, This camera hasn't been advertised as a very durable camera or a waterproof one, but a few light splashes of rain didn't do it any harm and it has held together after a few bumps, it does show paint scratches though, its case is a hard plastic and is quite seamless, Canon have done a good job at designing this camera, it boasts as a camera that is compact enough for a pocket and also has the usability of a bridge camera, the small bump on the left gives you great grip and gives space for two AA...

Canon mp220 - good printer but unreliable

...I bought this printer around a year ago - exactly a month after I bought it, it broke. Luckily I managed to exchange it for another of the same model but two months later it broke again - this time I exchanged it for another model instead as I couldn't deal with the reliability issues any longer. I don't know if the reliability issues I experienced with this model are common but the first time it broke it thought it had a paper jam and nothing I did would make that message go away - when the printer thinks it's got a paper jam it won't attempt to print/scan or copy anything else. The replacement I got ceased to work after two months - it stopped feeding paper and on closer inspection the rollers had worn back to the metal which certainly shouldnt happen after such a short period of time. Canon Pixma MP600 Printer

Advantages: Very Multifunctional
Disadvantages: Cost of replacement cartridges

By far the best facility on this printer (for me anyway) is the fact that I can print direct onto my cd/dvds, you simply load the cd into the holder that comes with the printer, slot it into position and print. However, one word of caution, you cannot print direct onto the ordinary cd/dvd's, you have to buy the ones with a "white" coating, but the results are very effective. Cartridge and paper loading are again relatively simple, the paper is top loading and the cartridges just click into position, a light flashes on the cartridge that requires to be changed. However, this printer does take 5 cartridges, two black, one yellow, one magenta and one cyan. A slightly less explosive Canon.

Advantages: Typically good Canon images.
Disadvantages: Poor flash and feels a bit flimsy.

...Canon along with Nikon have for years been known as the kings of camera`s but with things changing rapidly in the DSLR market Canon had to think fast. All of Canons recent releases have been at the expensive end of the market and they have been rapidly losing ground to the likes of Nikon and the new kids on the block (Sony). The release of the Canon EOS 1000D in June this year (2008)was an attempt to get back in the entry level market and whilst I think it should have the desired effect I am still not convinced they have done enough to tempt people away from the less expensive Sony option. Many people myself included thought that the new Canon would just be a fresher version of the Canon EOS 400D and the only stand out feature available on this 1000D that the 400 did not offer was a live view, so were Canon trying to pull the wool...
