CanoScan LiDE 100 - I Love My LiDE

Advantages: Fabulous quality for scanned documents, both colour and B&W
Disadvantages: Somewhat slow when scanning at highest resolutions

...I bought my CanoScan Lide100 for home use earlier this year (2009) after having used the CanoScan Lide 25 at work for 3 years or so. Having used it for several months now, I thought it was time I shared my views on how it fares as a flatbed scanner. Anyone who really knows me will know that I'm obsessed with taking photos and have 1000s of digital photos stored online and I really wanted to scan in my old photos pre-digital era and wanted a decent scanner mainly for this reason. Canon LiDE 35 Scanner

Advantages: lightweight, fast and easy to set up and use. nice slimline design.
Disadvantages: None that I have found

...A few months ago my old Agfa Snapscan 1212 gave up the ghost. Not surprising because I've had it since? it's been that long I honestly can't remember! It connected to the computer via the parallel port and was slower than the M25 with just one lane open. Mind you, just like the M25 when I first used it I thought it was terrific! It was in PCWorld that I first looked at the Canon LiDE35 - I'm afraid I wanted this machine so badly, I didn't shop around and bought it there and there. A Near Perfect Scanner

Advantages: Sooooo many features
Disadvantages: A little slow to scan at the highest resolution

...We use the CanoScan Lide 25 (which I'll refer to as Lide 25 from now on) at work and a handy little scanning tool it is indeed. It's very slim and lightweight and sits nicely on my desk, ready to jump into action whenever I need to scan a document or photo. You can copy directly from the platen (glass screen) to your printer or print or even email and it's very easy to set up. AN ABUNDANCE OF FEATURES The Lide 25 uses a USB connection so you don't need a separate power supply which is very handy indeed - saving on energy is always a better option. Unlike other home scanners I've used in the past the Lide 25 scans to a fairly high resolution of up to 1200 x 2400 dpi so when scanning photos you get very good quality images. Advantages: Easy to use, Affordable, small design and looks really nice.
Disadvantages: Hinges seem flimsy and once the scanner failed to load.

CanoScan - great quality scans at the touch of a button

Advantages: Quick, easy to use, quiet, great quality scans
Disadvantages: Fairly expensive

...The Canon CanoScan is a great all-round flatbed scanner. It is a good size (25cm x 36cm x 4cm) to enable all regular scanning, whilst not taking up unnecessary desk space. It has a resolution of 4800dpi x 4800 dpi, which results in great quality scans, of both black and white or colour documents/images. Whilst I have been rather let down by other scanners, this one is really easy to use and gives fantastic results. It is easy to scan in regular sheets/photos, but the lid also allows you to scan notebooks etc. Although other scanners I have used have allowed you to do this, the results have not been so good; often having the lid slightly ajar results in bleached patches of the scanned document, due to light getting in. There are 3 buttons on the front of the scanner: scan (saves a scan to your documents). copy (copies, then prints). email (sends a copy to outlook).
