Canterbury Cathedral
Advantages: Historical benefits, good attraction for all the family to learn about
Disadvantages: Mnay steps to climb.Apart form that none
...Well as my Dover castle review seemed to go down rather well with ratings received, and this is a rather local attraction to me, I thought I would do a review won Canterbury cathedral.
I can view this beautifully from my office window on my construction site, which I think is a privilege really.
History of the Cathedral
Well I should think most people know something about the cathedral and its history but I will merely scratch the surface of it in this review im sure?
The Cathedral was founded in 597AD by St Augustine who landed on the south east corner of England as a missionary from Rome.
St Augustine was given a site in Canterbury to set up his church and this was St Martins, which still stands today.
This was given to him by the then King of England Ethelbert. This Church was used throughout the Roman occupation and in...

Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales
Advantages: First rate entertainment
Disadvantages: Not a single one!
...I do not think that we laughed so much in ages! The animated Canterbury Tales is a masterful and extremely well done re-telling of Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.
The animation is better than first rate. The animations were undertaken by some of the top animators in Europe, made in Wales and Russia the production values were exceedingly good. It was almost possible to forget that they were animations, sometimes, the work was so exquisite.
The Canterbury Tales were written by Geoffrey Chaucer who was a scholar, a gentleman, a diplomat and also something of a 14th century secret agent. The Canterbury Tales was not entirely finished, but must be one of the most enduring pieces of fiction ever written in England.
The characters of the pilgrims who were taking part in the pilgrimage form London to Thomas a Becket's shrine in...

Rampage: Total Destruction
Advantages: Excellent value for money, Nice enviroments
Disadvantages: Controls aren't perfect, Can get repetitive
...Midway have arrived on the Wii at last, and what better way to make an appearance than with a game that offers the best value for money on the console so far, but with Rampage: Total Destruction only costing £16.99, can it really be any good?
Following a similar formula to the original arcade classic, Total Destruction, elaborates on what made the original so popular, with destructible cities, helicopters buzzing around your head and best of all, monsters with an attitude, 37 monsters altogether in fact, To make things even better you can also upgrade your monster, this is done through completing in game challenges and once complete this enables you to use them in Vs. battle or various multiplayer modes, how's that for carnage?
As you have probably guessed, the object of the campaign mode is to destroy the cities, leaving...

Eastbridge Hospital, Canterbury
Advantages: A little bit of calm (and it's free!)
Disadvantages: It's tiny
...Could one visit Canterbury and not feel the inexorable tug of the majestic Cathedral? The grandeur and beauty of the building and precincts are well documented and its history formidable.
In 1170 four knights, believing themselves to be acting on the instruction of Henry II, murdered Archbistop Thomas Becket in the Cathedral. Until the destruction of his shrine in 1538 by Thomas Cromwell, the cathedral became a place of pilgrimage for the old and the sick. Millions passed through in the hope of redemption in the presence of the shrine of the saint devoted to the poor and the needy.
However, ice-cream vendors, jugglers, whining children, French coach tour groups and Japanese snappers can easily dominate a visit today. The hustle, the bustle, the queues and the elbows can all make for a demanding and sticky summer morning outing...

Get ready to Rampage
Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: Can become repetitive
...I bought this game a few weeks ago and feel I have played enough to write this review. Some of you may remember Rampage from years back when it was one of the arcade classics, it was a game I used to play and enjoy.
The aim of this game is to play as a monster and destroy different buildings to clear the level. There is the added extra of collecting extra monsters, finding bonuses and protecting yourself from the police and helicopters that get in your way.
There are different types of games you can play; this is a quick description of them:
Campaign Mode (1-2 players)
Each city has between 8 and 10 blocks. If you are playing a two player game you will work together to bring these blocks down, if playing on your own, it?s up to you to bring them all down. You bring them down by punching, kicking and jumping...

THE CANTERBURY TALES VISITOR ATTRACTION
Advantages: Wonderful experience, excellently presented, combination of sounds, smells and sights
Disadvantages: Can be busy in summer
...*****
Firstly, I’ll just make clear from the outset, that this op is on only one attraction in Canterbury, the Canterbury Tales Visitor Attraction. I have given Ciao a few product suggestions of late, but was advised to write about the attraction under the category of the nearest town, since they only wanted the major cities (Edinburgh, London etc) to have subcategories of attractions and museums. I’ve just explained this so you don’t rate me as UH straight off for writing about only one aspect of this fabulous historical city – believe me, if I could write about everything that Canterbury had to offer, I would! I decided however that since this is one of my favourite places to visit whenever I return down south, it really was worthy of a mention in its own right.
*****
I am pretty sure that most people...

Canterbury Fever
Advantages: Absolutely beautiful
Disadvantages: Too many tourists
...You all know what it is like after Christmas, the desire to flee the country but not a penny to do it with.
This year I decided that after Christmas I would take myself on a short break to Canterbury to try and rid myself of the post Christmas blues.
Living in Ipswich Canterbury really isnt that difficult to get to. Having taken the train to London and catching a connection to Canterbury the only difficult task was remembering that only the first four carriages of the train went to Canterbury!
I was very disappointed when I arrived at Canterbury West train station, it was in such bad repair that it seemed almost derelict and the smell was so vile that London seemed a more desirable venue for my mini break.
I was soon in more joyful mood when a very chirpy taxi driver sped away from the station and through the windy roads...

Canterbury Christ Church College, best time of my life....
Advantages: Good courses, good tutors, great social scene, friendly and welcoming
Disadvantages: Accomodation limited
...I studied a combined honours degree in Business Studies & Sport Science and I'd do it again without hesitation.
Initially Canterbury Christ Church wasn't top of my list, yet with an unexpected set of grades it was Canterbury that were the first to offer me a place and the chance to visit the campus. I visited for the first time on a snowy December day just a few days before Christmas. As I disembarked the train from London and walked up the High Street toward the campus it was almost picture perfect for the time of year with the old tudor shops and the smell of roasted chestnuts in the air.
On arriving at the campus it struck me that the majority of students there are reasonably local or from London and its suburbs. There are also a small number of foreign students from all corners of the globe. The atmosphere is very welcoming...

Canterbury Castle
Advantages: It's free
Disadvantages: You need to use your imagination
...If you can't get to Bodiam, Canterbury Castle is well worth a look. It is not very far away from the centre of town and is one of the quieter visitor attractions. Best of all, you can enjoy it for FREE which is always a bonus in my book. It is interesting if you have the time to walk round the town to see the role the castle would have played in the city's defences as parts of the old city wall are still standing. It is a very peaceful spot and a lovely place to have a picnic away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. In the summer, there have been plays performed amongst the castle ruins which have lent a really fascinating quality to the performance....

Canterbury Cathedral - a fascinating building...
Advantages: Much more to see than you'd believe
Disadvantages: Can get a bit busy
...Well, first things first - we were quite lucky when we went to Canterbury Cathedral: we were shown round by my cousin, who works for the Cathedral itself. But don't panic if your cousin doesn't work for the Cathedral - because there are guided tours available for anyone who wants to go in. Just look for the notice at the Welcome Centre.
We used to live near York, and, naturally, York Minster was somewhere we'd been before. Well, look, this is NOTHING like York Minster. It's a huge site, much larger than the Minster, and because it was part of a monastery in the past, it's quiet and away from the traffic (unlike the Minster, as you'll know if you've been there).
We were quite lucky when we went round; because there was a wedding going on in the crypt, we couldn't go in there, so we decided to go to the pub for lunch and come back...
