Digital Photo Printing at Boots

...I have a digital camera, and keep my photos on my computer's hard-drive, but occasionally I like to get better and more interesting pictures printed, it just seems so much more natural to hold a real photo than look at it on the screen, plus it's better for showing them to people when a computer or TV isn't available, or giving photos to people who don't have a computer or DVD player. I recently therefore took a batch of my digital photos to Boots to get them printed. Boots now have self service machines for digital photos, which allow either instant, 1 hour or 24 hour printing from various sources. This can be a memory card, a photo CD, or Infra-Red direct from a compatible phone or camera. ...My father won this photo printer in a New Year dinner prize draw earlier this year, together with a Sony digital camera. Being the wonderful dad he is, he gave them as a gift to me and my husband so that we could take some great photo memories. Our version is not black - its the white one. The printer also came with a 'print pack', which contains print cartridges and photo paper. Each cartridge gives 40 photos. We had a lot of photos from our honeymoon and other lovely times since we'd been together, and having this little printer is perfect for lazy people like us that don't want to make the trip to the local photo shop! This is a very convenient solution for printing out those precious holiday snaps, at a very high level of quality - make yourself a cup of tea and discuss with family whilst sorting through photo collections...

...Boots photo processing is a digital print service that has a familiar name behind it, its not the cheapest digital processor online but its extremely reliable and has many useful features that help to get the best quality possible with as little trouble as possible. I don't use their service unless there is a deal on (I am a student and I am tight) at the moment they have a great deal? read on! I put this on here as I have used this service twice and both times I have been extremely happy. At the moment they offer 40 digital print posted to your address for a 1.50 delivery charge (and free photos :p). Basically sign up an account pick 40 pictures you want a copy of, upload them and then pay 1.50! That's it, wait 7 days and they will be with you :D posted straight to your door in a secure envelope. There are many of these frames to choose from ranging from as low as £25 for a 7? frame upto and above £80 for this Sony frame. Jessops in-store digital photo printing

Advantages: good choice of photo sizes, good prices for next day printing
Disadvantages: no instant printing (at least one hour for most items)

...This review is specifically about the Doncaster and Sheffield branches of Jessops but should be attributable to any branch with in-store developing kiosks. My experience of the in-store developing from digital media is very good. The Jessops branches that I use have a bank of touch screen machines (kiosks) for you to develop your digital pictures. Each store has several such machines so you never have long to wait (if at all) to use one. The machines take a wide variety of memory cards from your digital camera or will accept pictures on CD. The machines will even allow you to develop pictures on more than one card in the same transaction. When you insert your card/CD the machine will scan it and display on screen each photo that is contained on it. You then just need to choose which ones you want printing, how many copies...

Suberb photo prints

Advantages: Excellent print quality
Disadvantages: slightly flimsy

...through all the ink in a short space of time. I advise you buy plenty to avoid running out like me when printing important work off. Black ink lasts for around 150 pages while colour for around 180. Colour cartridges cost around £13 while black cost around £9, though recently i've seen black cartridges as low as £6. Its a good idea to shop around for the cartridges. ----Print Speed and Quality---- Speed wise the printer is pretty good I've had around 10 pages of black text from the printer in just over a minute. The only downside with the text printing is that on 80gsm and 100gsm paper there is obvious feathering of the text. Its not massive but its a shame as the printer does so much else so well Colour of course takes a lot longer but is still pretty good speed wise at around 8 ppm. Normal size photos (6x4) take less than...

A Sony Digital Photo Frame Review

Advantages: Good if you have a lot of pictures on your computer.
Disadvantages: There is always something moving in the corner of your eye.

...I bought this digital photo frame for my eldest daughter as the sales assisstant in the shop said it is ideal for people with a lot of pictures and as she is leaving school soon she will have a lot of photos lying on the computer. This gift is ideal for people is their computer it full up with holiday pictures etc. It is a regular photo frame size, which is ideal. The picture quality is fantastic, however this depends on the quality of the camera you took the photo on in the first place. It is good that you can change the picture often by uploading new photos onto it (instructions make this very easy). You can choose which pictures you wish to view and how the transition of the photos occurs. The only down side is that if the photo is small then it doesn't stretch to the edges of the frame....

Great Photo Printing

Colour profiles (to suit your monitor) can be selected, but the software usually selects it automatically for you. Included is software that match?s your digital camera with the printer. This uses the information from your camera and optimises the printing of photos. This uses Epson?s new print image matching technology. The printing resolution (quality) can be selected with the software. Very high dots per inch (dpi) for Photo printing and lower for general printing. I wont go into the exact dpi figures. The results speak for themselves. Colour, grey scale, or black and white can also be selected if needed. THE OUTPUT/RESULTS The quality of output is excellent, even on plain paper the results are pretty good. Not photo quality obviously...
