Cape Town, the place to be

Advantages: Great Scenery, Value for money, Pristine beaches
Disadvantages: not much

...Cape town is an aersome place. i love it so much and would highly recommend anyone visit it. From pristine wite beaches, the awesome mountan and the V&A waterfront, this is the place to be! It is also very cheap whe nyou are coming over from the united states or europe bercause of the exchange rate. a beer costs around $1 - $1.50. Cape town is relatively safe compared to most south africa ncities, especially johannesburg, mostly due to the huge tourist industry. cape town is pretty small and easy to travel around. there is no trains or decent bus service, but you can hire a car for really cheap, and the are tour buses in the city. i highly recommend going there www.explorecapetown.co.za...

Review of Cape Town Experience - General

Cape Town

Advantages: Lovely place, nice people, cheap shopping, good food
Disadvantages: You may run out of things to do

...Ooh.. what a lovely place. I was in Cape Town for the Millennium celebrations, and I had also been there four years before. It was an unforgettable experience. The hotel organised a huge banquet with special plates that say the Vineyard 1999-2000. We were allowed to take these home, as well as the specially embroidered serviettes. The people were lovely there, always saying nice things and complimenting you. The hotel was stunning - we got to stay in the Mountain View suite, and the views were breathtaking. To do, there was a big selection. We went in to town a few times, and there was lots to do there. Shopping, and all very cheap! Another day we visited the beaches and went for a swim and there are many more activities to take part in, but I admit it could get a little boring. Robben Island is a must see - here you are able to...

Beautiful Cape Town

Advantages: The most beautiful city in the world, the view of Table mountain from the ocean
Disadvantages: The rumor says that there is a lot of crime

...This review actually starts in Johannesburg but most of the time was spent in Cape Town and that is why I have chosen to categorize it under "Cape Town" I landed in Johannesburg (also know as Jo?burg) on the 31st of January 1999. The first few days were a bit amputated due to the fact that KLM, together with the Norwegian airline company Braathens, managed to send my luggage to Aberdeen, in Scotland, instead of sending it to Johannesburg. It took them 4 days to locate it and deliver it to me. I don?t think that Johannesburg has that much to offer to tourists. The Kruger Park is not that far from the city and many use this city as a starting point for safaris. I have to admit that I didn?t go on a safari during my stay in South Africa. I only stayed in Joburg for two days before moving on to Cape Town. Cape Town is in my opinion...

Review of Cape Town (South Africa)

The beauty that is Cape Town...

Advantages: Stunning Scenery, It's History, So much to do!!
Disadvantages: Crime Rates

...On your arrival in Cape Town, you straight away become familiar with the sheer divide of the rich and poor as you make your way past row after row after row of townships (shanty towns). You should be aware that as you drive around Cape Town, people will come up to your car and try sell you things. It is worth keeping doors locked at all times and at night time try to prevent stopping completely because there is a high crime rate during this time. There is plenty to do and see during a stay in Cape Town, I have experienced a few which I believe are definately worth a trip to. A must is Table Mountain, which can either be walked or most commonly now (due to crime rates) reached by use of the cableway which takes visitors right to the top. This is very safe and is fixed with a rotating floor to enable visitors to see all views possible...

Review of Cape Town Experience - General

Cape Town, South Africa

Advantages: A rainbow experience, everything you could find anywhere else in the world, and more
Disadvantages: Crime can be scary, it helps to be vigilant.

...Cape Town is undeniably the crème de la crème of picturesque cities to visit in South Africa. Even as you walk around in the city's central business district, the air is still pure enough to feel as if any of the beautiful first world buildings and constructions, breathe at one with nature as a certain palpable, hazy warmth wraps around you in calm, quiet magnitude. Tarry awhile to listen to the gentle cooing of doves overhead and you may just find yourself hopelessly addicted. Locals are friendly, and can be a little too friendly if you find yourself in certain parts that only locals know how to find their way about. They might offer to wash and look after your car and if you refuse, might swamp you with pressing requests to do so, just wave a friendly, firm and dismissive nay (try not to look afraid) and they'll not usually press...

The Cape of great hotel!

Advantages: Great location
Disadvantages: Not that family friendly

...The Radisson SAS Waterfront was a great hotel situated on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, with views of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Robben Island and Table Mountain. The hotel was just on the edge of the town centre. Most hotels are located around the Victoria and Alfred waterfront complex and, as such, have particularly steep prices. The Radisson was walking distance to the V&A waterfront but did not suffer from extortionate prices (our room came in at about £70 a night). It had a sizeable car park and was well situated for driving down the coast of Cape Town. At the time of booking, we were not offered a choice on rooms so ended up with a basic room only. This was fine but we missed out on views of the harbour that could be seen from rooms at the back of the hotel. The room was spacious (approx 36 sq meters) with a king size...

Cape Town: A Native's Piont Of View

Advantages: Ocean on the left, Ocean on the right & Mountain range in the middle
Disadvantages: Winter can get wet and windy

...I have lived in Cape Town most of my 29 years. People will probably think/say that I am a bit biased, BUT as a "Cape Townian" I think that we as the natives knows the best and worst of our own city. The thing I like most is summer. For the active type of person there is the Beach, Hiking and trips up Table Mountain. On the one side of the peninsula you've got warm sea water and on the other side for the more adventurist of you the water is a bit colder. The Hiking trails are also wonderfull allthough it is best to do them in the early Spring when all the mountain springs are still filled with water. Just immagine hiking for two hours and then drinking from an ice cold mountain streamwhen you rest. For me the best trails are to found on Steenberg. To get ther you take the train from Cape Town to Muizenberg. There is no need to pack lots...

Go to Cape Town- but keep an eye on your purse!

Advantages: Incredible scenery; lots to do; great weather
Disadvantages: Crime, safety, transport problems

...I spent Christmas out in Cape Town, with family who live out there. I've been before, I would happily go back again. Cape Town is an astoundingly beautiful city, with breathtaking natural surroundings - Table Mountain, the beaches at Camps Bay and Clifton, the coast down to Cape Point. The natural beauty would be number one recommendation for sight-seeing in Cape Town. Table Mountain is well known and is the obvious attraction. There is a cable car up to the top, where you can have astounding views over the city and out to sea. There are also numerous walks and hikes on the mountain, for those who are adventurous (it is extremely important to follow recommended safety guidelines for these, partly due to weather and partly due to crime, see below). There are also incredible beaches near Cape Town, particularly at Clifton...

Cape town and the Cape Province

Advantages: V.Cheap cost of living, drive on the left
Disadvantages: Definite 'no-go areas'

...Cape Town, sun, sea, wine, and a dirty great chunk of rock. Cape Town and the surrounding area must rate as a must see on any world travellers tick list. The main feature is the omnipresent Table Mountain which is as spectacular from the bottom looking up as it is from the top looking down. The old harbour has been redeveloped into a shopping/eating/entertainment centre which gives an idea of what could have been in Londons docklands, the advantage the undeniably have being that mountain again, flood lit at night with clouds spilling over the edge forming a majestic backdrop. But the city and it?s mountain are only part of the story, hire a car and get out into the country (they drive on the proper side of the road down there too) and you?ll see scenery to rival the best any where. Inland from Cape Town itself the main industry is...

Review of Cape Town (South Africa)

Is Cape Town for you? Great holiday!

Advantages: Cheap, good weather, plenty to do.
Disadvantages: Long haul flight, distance between attractions

...South Africa has had a colourful history that?s for sure. Still, it remains one of the most diverse countries in the world, with 11 official languages and many religions and cultures living under one sky. Politics aside, it has a lot to offer the British tourist and the geological capital, Cape Town, is arguably one of the most beautiful places in the world. GETTING THERE - Its not easy spending the best part of 14 hours on a flight and for the better deals, you will probably have to change at some European airport but I have done this as a small child and an adult and its pretty hassle free. Flights leave daily from Heathrow and Gatwick and I believe possibly Manchester too. Virgin fly direct and most major airlines will take you to Cape Town via a brief stop at Johannesburg international. WHY GO? - I am not going to harp...
