SAMSUNG RW13EBSS1 Wine Chiller
Review of Samsung RW13EBSS1 Wine Chiller by  me_and_my_teddybear

Advantages: Great
Disadvantages: nonoe

...This is the magnificent SAMSUNG RW13EBSS1 Wine Chiller. I brought this a few weeks ago and it is the best purchace I have made in a very long time. Ok, when I tell you the rough price for this Wine Chiller you will probably think...Woo..thats alot, thats what I thought when my friend told me how much she paid for her's but once i'd brought mine and got my wine into it I can tell you it was worth every penny. Please read on for prices and where to buy. The Samsung Wine Holder is black / stainless steel in coulour ( mine is anyway) and it can hold between 28 - 31 bottles of wine on its beautiful Chrome Racks. It has an electrionic digital temperature control situated at the front of the Wine Cooler on the top just above the door for you to increase and decrease the temperature for the perfect chilled wine temperature. You can keep... Read review

Aussie Cabernet Sauvignon stunner
Review of Sainsburys Taste the Difference Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon by  zallin

Advantages: Excellent value, deliciously quaffable, made by a good producer
Disadvantages: Need a Sainsburys to get it, watch that 14% alcohol !

...The Sainsburys own label 'Taste The Difference' range of wines overall achieve a good level of quality and the Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon member of this range is possible one of the best from my experience. This can be confirmed by it often being in residence on my wine rack ! I'm a great a fan of New World Cabernet Sauvignons because of their juicy and exuberant blackcurrant fruit nature and I found this wine was able to provide this experience in rather an elegant manner. It comes from the Coonawarra region in South Australia which is a 'cooler' wine producing area of this state and it is renowned for its distinctive red soils and producing classy, refined Cabernet Sauvignon. Hence Coonawarra Cabernets can be expensive so the full retail price of £6.99 is very good value for money given the quality of this wine and when... Read review

tragic magic does an Outside bar
Review of Everything that starts with O ... by  markd_uk

Advantages: I did it to make money to pay for the new kitchen
Disadvantages: I didn't make much money

...because, being a pub landlord who was asked to do a licensed bar, it seemed reasonable to me to assume that lager, bitter, spirits and wine would be the chosen drinks of choice, and not tap water. So, with Adam off sick and Julia drafted in to replace him for the bar, I had to figure out a way of getting all the equipment I needed up to the Village Hall. My attention turned to Young Colin, who seems to be developing muscles I never had as a teenager, and he helped hoist a keg of Carling, the necessary cooler, more than twenty bottles of various wines, 48 bottles of tonic to go with the three litres of gin and vodka and eight bottles of Coca Cola to mix with the 1.5 litre bottle of Jack Daniels or the 1.5 litre bottle of Famous Grouse. Obviously, I needed some Diet Coke in case these people might be afraid of sugar, and some Lemonade in case... Read review

Good Chilean Sauvignon Blanc from Tesco
Review of Tesco Finest Tapiwey Sauvignon Blanc Reserva by  zallin

Advantages: Lowish alcohol level, pleasant tropical fruit flavours, good at half price
Disadvantages: Expensive at full price, only found at Tesco

...Tesco often heavily discount their range of 'Finest' wines in order to lure us into a purchase and I was no exception to this when I spotted Tesco Finest Tapiwey Sauvignon Blanc some time ago reduced from £7.99 to £3.99. This is a Chilean white wine from the Casablanca Valley which is a cooler wine producing area gaining a good reputation for producing quality Sauvignon Blanc (Chardonnay and Pinot Noir as well). The wine has a screwcap closure which is very handy for times when the corkscrew has gone missing and this of course eliminates the possibility of the wine being spoiled by cork taint. Aroma wise this wine had zesty, crisp aromas of gooseberry which is typical for a Sauvignon Blanc with a pleasant dash of tropical fruit. Upon supping I picked up a light to medium body which was initially crisp and lively before subsiding... Read review

COOLZONE CZ51055WFRS Stainless steel mini bar
Review of Coolzone CZ51055WFRS by  dorsetrambler

Advantages: Compact, Quiet Operation, Quality Appearance
Disadvantages: Internal space is a few millimetres too small for ease of storage

...Now available from Tesco direct for 65 GBP!! I bought two of these about a month ago for use in two bed and breakfast rooms. This has proved to be an excellent invesment. Our guests love these little coolers which can easily take three bottles of wine and a six pack with yet room to spare. Best of all they are so quiet in operation you can hardly tell they are working, this is obviously very important for a device located in a bedroom. The internal space has four removable white plastic coated wire shelves. The position of the shelves is dictated by slots in the cabinet so the shelf positions are not adjustable. Wine bottles can only be stored lengthwise on the second shelf up from the bottom otherwise they foul the back of the door and prevent it from closing, it is for this reason that I have found I can only get three wine... South African Wine, I must be dreaming, am I.
Review of Sainsbury's South African Chenin Blanc by  cjsingleton

Advantages: Price, fresh alive taste
Disadvantages: Dry for some

...Sainsbury’s South African Chenin Blanc only £3.49 for a 75cl bottle or buy in bulk with a 3litre (that’s 4x75cl bottles) box for £10.89, a bargain or what? Where does it come from? South Africa has a long history of making wines from what we all know as the Cape region. With its apartheid problems behind it South Africa needs valuable exports and they are now producing good quality wines to earn the much need foreign currency. A close friend on his return to the UK first introduced me to these wines only a few years ago after several years of living in that country. Well it was news to me that there is actually several Cape wine producing regions. There are the cooler coastal climates due to the effects of both the Indian and Atlantic oceans. These now include some of the best South African wine regions including... Read review

Tastes just like summer!
Review of Banrock Station Colombard Chardonnay by  abbichicken

Advantages: Light easy drinking, refreshing, reasonable price
Disadvantages: Only if you don't like sweetish white wine!

...on conversation! I am currently enjoying a glass of this on it's own, but I think it'd be a lovely thing to have with a meal. I like wines where you're not sort of drinking them for the sake of it, and one glass of this would be plenty if it were that kind of a Wine Moment, however that said, I reckon of a Saturday night in with a pizza and dodgy tv (like, Big Brother...) I could quite easily polish off the bottle with no real sense of unpleasantry! It is definitely best served chilled, but I think it's got enough of a feel to it that it'd survive being not quite straight out of the fridge/nifty wine cooler thing/etc. It's just got that sense of sitting in the garden in the sunshine, during a lazy afternoon, and not having to get up for work the next day. Which, considering it's dark, it's raining, I don't have a garden, and have to get up for work... Read review

Cheap White Burgundy ! Oh la la !
Review of Tesco Finest Oak Aged White Burgundy by  zallin

Advantages: Great value when discounted, resonably balanced
Disadvantages: Maybe needs a touch more acidity

...the screwcap on this wine (very untraditional in a very traditional area such as Burgundy...indeed this is the first screwcapped Burg that I've seen) and poured out a shimmering mid-lemon coloured liquid that screamed to be drank. Upon the cursory swirl of the wine in the glass I picked up a simple but pleasing aroma of green apple fruit with maybe a hint of flower blossom. This surprised me a little as the appley aroma is indicative of a Chardonnay from a cooler area and I was expecting aroma characteristics of Chardonnay that are more typical from a warmer area e.g. stone fruit (peach). I did not pick up any toasty aromas from the oak on the nose so I guess this wine was very subtly oaked. Still the nose was pleasant enough. Moving onto the tasting I picked up a medium-full body with a fleshy and rounded mouthfeel that not surprisingly... Read review

Seductive and exciting Pinot Noir
Review of Secano Estate Pinot Noir by  zallin

Advantages: Great balance of value and quality, lovely delicious flavour
Disadvantages: Boring label, only at Marks and Spencer

...I really enjoy Chilean Pinot Noirs because of their clean red berry flavours and have of course sampled quite a few of them. One that has performed the best for me in terms of all round quality, value and sheer quaffability is Secano Estate Pinot Noir which is only available from Marks and Spencer for £6.99. It is made for M&S by a decent producer called Vina Leyda from grapes grown in the Leyda Valley. This area is an up and coming coastal area which is responsible for some very tasty Pinot Noirs as its cooler climate gives better ripening conditions for the temperamental Pinot Noir grape which produces better wine in moderate to cool climates. I first tasted the delicious 2006 vintage while watching the film Sideways in order to pay homage to the main character Miles and his love of Pinot Noir. I am sure he would have revelled... LONDON'S ALCOHOLIC ATTRACTION
Review of Vinopolis, London by  Pumpkin

Advantages: Fascinating, fun and interactive
Disadvantages: Not good for families or anyone not interested in wine

.... There are four tables along the way, each one features a huge range of wines from the countries you have just “visited”, including reds, whites, roses and sparkling wines. Some of the more unusual wines that you can try include wines from China, India, England and Japan. Although I wouldn’t wish to put you off trying any of these, all I will say is that I think there is definitely a reason why we don’t often see them on the supermarket shelves! In case the wine tasting is getting too much for you, each table has complementary Carr’s water biscuits to soak up the alcohol, and the opportunity to buy snacks such as nuts and olives for anyone who has got the munchies. There are frequent water coolers along the way, either to wash out your glass (you have to carry the same glass with you throughout the tour – a slight niggle if you have bags... Read review
