...the device, as a security measure. In my opinion, the Garmin Nuvi 200w is an excellent satellite navigation system. There are not many better systems on the market today at the same price, if any. I have had no previous experience with sat nav systems, however I found the Nuvi 200w to be extremely easy to use and very user friendly. It does have a few minor faults, with it's long satellite pairing wait, and the lack of a mains charger, however these can be picked up fairly cheaply. Apart from that, I cannot fault the Nuvi 200w. As well as being very stylish, and with a high quality feel, it also does exactly what it's designed to do, which is fundamental, as well as being packed with a wealth of other top features. Garmin nuvi 200W

Advantages: small compact, easy to put in pocket or bag.
Disadvantages: Low battery life. No home charger. Need to charge from car

...Operating the unit is easy. One slide switch on top to start it up. This can also be locked. It has a full post code entry. If you dont have a house number to enter after the post code then it will take you to the centre of the postcode you have just entered. Also you can search just for city. Also you can just use the map function if you want to find your own way. There are plenty of extras in it such as "Favourites" and searching for entertainment, resteraunts, museams and things like that. There is a handy trip meter which also tells you the speed. Get Safely from A to B with Garmin nuvi 1340

Advantages: Not as annoying as I thought

Easy to use, easy to see, easy to love GPS

...After doing a lot of online research, I decided to get the Garmin nuvi 200W. The "W" stands for widescreen. It has the exact features ass the Nuvi 200, but a larger screen. We were in Disneyworld, (you can buy additional countries files, to add to your system), and wanted to go to a Build-a-bear store. Not only did it find the store, but give us wonderful directions, that saved us miles over they way we thought we wanted to go. The "voice" is easy to understand. The touch screen is very responsive and easy to use. I am not a "techie", and worried I would have trouble learning how to use this. It is so easy, a child could use it. The graphics are bright. ...The Garmin Nuvi 610T is a very good sat nav unit. In the box you receive the unit itself, windscreen mount, charger leads, cd rom, usb pc connecting cable, instruction manual, a dashboard mount and a tmc aerial. On receiving the unit it was incredibly easy to set up. In fact straight from the box its ready to go once you've attached it to the windscreen, it simply takes a few moments to locate satellites and establish where it is. The windscreen mounting bracket is of good quality, the plastic is robust and in 6 months the suction cup hasn't worked loose at all; its still exactly where I placed it initially. You get a decent length of lead on the charging cable that fits into any standard 12V cigarette lighter socket. The tmc lead is also a decent enough length and comes with two suction cups to keep it neatly attached to...

...Edit: My review here is based on the Nuvi-250 (non-widescreen version). I bought one of these recently as my old ipaq-based TomTom is getting more outdated each day and there doesn't seem to be a reasonably-priced way to update it. I have to say I was expecting better. The manual is small because there aren't as many features as you get with TomTom. For example TomTom allows you to set the distance between your POI and it's alert sounding. This Garmin seems to sound the alert at it's own preset distance warning which you can't change from the menu system. It also seems to take a while to find the satellites. We went to our local park on saturday which is about a mile from home and we were practically on the car-park before it locked on. The worst part though was how innacurate the maps seem to be. The screen is not as sensitive as I would like in an ideal world - though I recognise the difficulty of getting the balance right. My machine did not come with an electric plug charger, just a car-lighter one. As my bike did not come with a lighter or a 12v plug, its battery life limits me to about 4 hours max on the move. No spare batteries are available for replacing or adding to the supplied one. It is a factory fitting job, and I gather it is quite expensive at that. As I compared several models I feel I am qualified to write a review on this Sat Nav. Garmin is well known for Satnav, but they also make Mobile phones, Laptops, PDAs, 2 way radios, and even dog tracking systems. They do echo sounders for boats, as well as chartplotters, fishfinders, and even radar sets. They are a "new" company (1989) and have a stong foothold in the navigation market. Garmin call this a personal travel assistant, this is an entry level job, but I tend to think that is just a marketing trick to make you want the next model. The device comes already pre-loaded with maps covering the whole of Europe. It has the usual touch screen and is of course very slim. The database is already loaded...
