Diamond review  Telford, By A Resident

Advantages: Shopping, nice areas, easy to get around, close to other places
Disadvantages: Some bad areas, some bad people, bad nightlife

...the county. The county of Shropshire is towards the west of the midlands, and is bordered by Wales as well as the counties of Cheshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire. Telford itself lies relatively close to the historic town of Shrewsbury, and is under an hour away from Birmingham by car. There are obviously many different ways to drive to Telford, though one of the most direct is via the M54, which heads away from Birmingham directly through Telford, and is connected to the large network of motorways throughout the country. Providing you know where Telford is, it should be easily accessible from any direction once you reach Shropshire due to the major nature of the town, though it is surrounded by countryside which means winding country lanes if you're not using the motorway. A brilliant way to get to Telford is by train as it...

Telford Shropshire

Advantages: Good place to visit, lots to do
Disadvantages: Have to pay to park for town centre everywhere

...Telford, Shropshire Telford is a town in the Midlands just off the M54 making it easy to access. Known as the birthplace of industry This town has lots of attractions and things to do, including a very large shopping centre with lots of shops to suit everyone's shopping needs, all indoors making shopping in any weather enjoyable. There are several very large car parks for the shopping centre all though you do have to pay to park. There is also a large market with stalls both inside and out and a really nice café on the inside of the market area. There are also a few large retail parks in Telford which are just a short car journey away. Just on the edge of the shopping centre is a very large town park, including Wonderland a brilliant day out for all the family that the kids will love, the park is a large safe area, which is...

Telford worth a visit

Advantages: Easy to get to
Disadvantages: Finding stuff other than the Iron Bridge

...Telford, in Shropshire, is well worth a visit. It is an area steeped in history. And I am not talking about the faux "Victorian town" constructed at Blists Hill. (Which is really called Blessers Hill, but a cartographer's mistake saddled it with the name Blists Hill.) Did you know that the Civil War opened for business in Wellington, an ancient market town in Telford? It's true! "In September 1642, King Charles I raised his standard in the market square of Wellington, a small, though highly influential, market town in the English Midland county of Shropshire and addressed his troops the next day at nearby Orleton Hall. He declared that he would uphold the Protestant Religion, the Laws of England, and the Liberty of Parliament. The "Wellington Declaration" (otherwise known as the Declaration of Wellington) was held to be so...

Car Rental "GOLDCAR" (Dealer - Autoeurope) in ALICANTE

Advantages: Non...
Disadvantages: Customer service, payment system, ruined start of your holiday..

...We had a terrible experience with Goldcar in ALICANTE, spent 3 hours at their desk, always being dumped because of a customer behind us as if we were not customers ?! We booked a car from Goldcar online (using their Dealer "AutoEurope"), then when we arrived we had to pay the the fuel deposit. We had a VISA credit card and they tried using it and said it doesn't go through. We didn't have another credit card, they don't accept cash. But we used this card a ay ago for online shopping and t was working fine, never had issues with it before. We rang our bank, it said everything is fine with the card and they don't see that anyone would have been trying to charge it (Goldcar). Which means that there was something wrong with Goldcar's card processing system.. Then we were told to ring Autoeurope as they were the one's we dealt...

Receptionist at a Car Dealer

Advantages: *
Disadvantages: *

...I have had a weekend job since September 2005 and I work as a receptionist at a car dealership. As I've been in this role for about 2 and half years, I feel as though I can offer some information about the job. A bit about the company I work for a local car dealership in the town where I live. The company has three branches within the region. The branch I work at is a double franchise (Peugeot and Chevrolet) but the other two branches are not (just Peugeot). How I got the job When I was in year 10 I carried out my 2 weeks work experience here (as a clerical assistant rather than a receptionist). They were pleased with my performance and the summer of the following year (2005) I was employed as a temporary full time receptionist for the six-week holiday. Towards the end of my time there the weekend position...

An amazing car seat

Advantages: safe, cosy
Disadvantages: none

...Where to buy: This car seat is readily available. You can buy it from all the shops you'd expect to be able to buy them from including Halfords, mothercare, john lewis', toys r us etc. What do they cost: prices vary depending up on offers and stores but usually this car seat retails at £100. How do they attach? This car seat is different to many of the others on the market. It clips onto a base which is attached to your car, This makes it easy to get the car seat in and out of the car without waking up the baby. The car seat base is attached by the seat belt securing it in place and a metal leg which keeps it stable. Are they comfortable? This car seat is very padded and so a nice cosy seat for your baby. It comes with a head hugger which makes it cosy and safe for a newborn. This headhugger can be removed revealing much...

Review of Maxi-Cosi Cabrio Car Seat

great car seat

Advantages: see rview
Disadvantages: expense, heavy

...I bought this when I had my baby as it was apparently the best on the market and I really can't find fault with it at all it has been the most reliable of our baby products and can't rate it highly enough. This car seat is different from others as it is suitable for up to 9 months whilst the majority of others are just up to 6 months. The seat is well padded and has a 'head hugger' so it is safer for newborns. This headhugger can then be removed once your baby is big enough. The straps also can be adjusted once your baby grows so that it is still safe and comfortable. The straps are easy to use- at first they were fiddly but once you have the hang of them then you know what you're doing they're easy! once you have strapped your baby in you then pull on the straps to make them tight so that your baby is safetly in place...

Telford Love it or hate it

Advantages: has a very nice shopping centre (from a blokes point of view)
Disadvantages: I never will get the hang of that flaming ring road.

...I stopped off at Telford for a night on my way to Bridgnorth Folk Festival ( an exeptional Festival a review of which will follow as and when Ciao has a slot for Folk Festivals). Stayed at the Telford Travel Inn just to use up some old vouchers, the price should have been around £49.95. A promise they make is that should your sleep be disturbed in any way before 7am they will give you a refund and at around 6.30 am I awoke to the sound of a bin/skip lorry as the room I was in was at the back of the hotel. Although I would have accepted less the duty manager insisted on a full refund. Shopping, Telford has a very nice new shopping mall with most of the major retail outlets within, when I went the car park had the offer of 20 minutes free, so if you got your ticket back through the exit machine within that time you are ok. Great...

Brilliant infant car seat

Advantages: Excellent for safety, comfort and totally practical
Disadvantages: no negatives for this product

...I used this for my daughter and used it from birth right through to the upper weight limit which is actually higher than most other car seats in this category. She always seemed so content in it and happily napped when travelling. The sun canopy is excellent, great for protecting the baby when driving and carrying about. Sun canopy also stores away easily when not in use, remaining attatched but out for the way. I also bought the easybase which made loading and unloading baby from car very quick and easy - especially when its raining which it so often does here. Also purchased mosquito net & Raincover both excellent purchases and in the UK I certainly needed them. I liked the fact that there were internal pads that could be removed as she grew to enable more comfort and space for her within the seat. Covers are easily removed for washing...

Lookers Renault Stockport - Avoid their Ex-demos

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Damaged car, never advised when purchasing!

...I bought a Renault Clio 172 Cup from Lookers Renault in April 2004. The car was an ex-demonstrator, I had an incident with the car where I needed some repair work done to one of the wings...whereon I was advised by the bodyshop that some 'touch-up' paint had been used to cover damage! I was horrified, and it turned out that the car had been involved in some form of impact, and not repaired properly. I was absolutely mortified that I'd paid £12,500 for a car which had been shunted and 'repaired' to a poor standard. The even more mortifying thing was that there was a Renault Megane 225 which had been front-ended and this would have been repaired in-house, and therefore not declared on the HPI reports for that car, just like it wasn't for mine. I would never purchase another car from them due to my experiences...I went to a dealer...
