DIY importing

Advantages: V. CHEAP
Disadvantages: THE WAIT

...I have recently bought a Toyota Celica VVTi from a dealership in Denmark. the spec is UK and I have Premium Pack / Metallic paint and a rear spoiler as extra. The UK price would be close on £20k. I have imported it myself - collected the car and the total price including travel / exchange rates / petrol etc.. was just £13.5k. I would recommend this method to anybody who is importing a any car or buying a new car. The only disadvantage is the wat. It took nearly 6 months for the car to arrive in Denmark. But on a savng of £6.5k it is worth it. I have now had the car for 3 months and have had no probs at all. Many of my friends and colleagues are now considering buying fron Denmark and one of them has recently ordered a RAV4 saving a similar amount. The Importance of reading this...

Advantages: Great story, good characters, a fun read
Disadvantages: Storyline is a tad silly but who cares?!

...realises if she wants her inheritance, she has to marry Anthony for real - but she only has 5 weeks to do so. Can she make Anthony fall in love in just a few weeks? And is it really what she wants? According to the author's foreword, she has somewhat based this story upon the play "The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde after reading it but I can't really comment on that much because I haven't read that story myself. To me, it just sounded like a fun if unrealistic and somewhat silly storyline, but I don't read books for them to be like real life because for me, reading is escapism and I do enjoy a silly read sometimes. I do get nervous reading new authors, especially if I've parted with my hard earned cash for them, but after reading just a few pages of this, I knew I would love it, and I actually found it hard to put down...

...The web site is easy to use but for specific information you have to either e-mail or phone them. We visited the car lot in Manchester, which was not as big as it appeared on-line. Not all the types of car listed on the web are physically on site. We already knew which car we wanted to purchase and had a pre-set cash budget with which to barter. The sales person was very helpful, but didn't have enough authority to agree a deal without frequently 'asking his manager'. The price agreed was fantastic - knocking almost £4500 from the dealership price for the same car. One thing to note is that the price they list does not include road fund, registration fees or metallic paint on new cars. The main draw back appears to be delivery time. Ten days after signing the order form, we still have no idea when the car will be available...

...I ordered a new Audi A3 (basic specification with no extras, as this can delay the order)on a 4-8 week (estimated) delivery date. At week 9 and after receiving no calls from the sales staff I enquired as to the whereabouts of the vehicle. It took over 10 days of constant calling to be finally told that I had a further 8 weeks to wait. I am now entering week 18 of my 4-8 week order. Virgin Cars still can not give me any information as to where the car is. At no point have they offered any information without me first having to call them. 3 seperate sales staff have promised to call me back and failed to do so. Anyone placing an order should read the small print. The magazine costs £3.50 and I think this is a small price to pay considering it could help you save thousands of pounds.
