The best caravan park around!
Advantages: Brand new caravans that are well kept.
Disadvantages: As with all caravans a little on the pricey side.
...Apologies in advance, this is long review!
After seeing a report on my local news the other night I thought I would review the one thing that, over the last 5-6 years of my life has been a constant, come rain or shine, recession or boom we have visited and stayed at this particular place as our holiday home of choice.
The particular report I was referring to earlier, was the fact that out of all the poor companies in my local area (I live in the Midlands, we are one of the worst hit areas for redundancy?s), the caravan companies were flourishing.
Now as I have already stated, we (myself, my husband, my two children and various other members of my family, depending who is available on holiday week!), have stayed at this particular caravan site for a while.
The caravan site in question is ?Tomlinsons caravan and leisure park...

Welcome Caravan Park - Dawlish Warren
Advantages: Great place for adults and kids alike
Disadvantages: We have to come home!
...This Caravan Park is in Dawlish Warren, Devon. It is clean, friendly and has excellent entertainment facilities, and entertainment staff.
The beach is a short walk away, is clean and has rock pools for the children to explore.
The site has static caravans and I have stayed in the lower and top range, and all are clean and very modern. There are also chalets which I have never stayed in but look fine.
There is a childrens play area with swings etc, lots of activities day and night for the children and adults alike. There are 3 swimming pools and a bubbling pool to relax in.
There are shops on site and just off site, launderette, hire services and gas and electric are free.
There is plenty of parking space, and there are lots of nearby attractions, e.g. Model Village, Paignton zoo, and you can get discounts on the visits...

Burgh Island South Devon and around
Advantages: A beautiful and unusual venue
Disadvantages: Not many.
.... I played rugby against Kingsbridge and never will forget their excellent after-the-game hospitality. There are several inns and B&Bs in and around the town itself.
HOW TO GET THERE.
From the west - follow the A379 out of Plymouth.
From the east -along the same coastal road through Kingsbridge.
OTHER ATTRACTIONS
Due to the fact that all the coastal towns and villages hang down along tortuous narrow lanes from the lateral coastal main road, it is virtually non-negotiable by caravans.
I have nothing against caravanners, but I do hate caravans. Having a relatively small stretch of stunning coastline that, is to my knowledge, devoid of caravan parks is an overriding attraction to me.
I have read such complaints as the local "Blue for Clean" beaches having dogs when dogs are banned, that car parking prices are high, and about...

Overstone Caravan Park
Advantages: Very freindly clean site with good amenities.
Disadvantages: Only opens on a seasonal basis.
...For the past couple of years myself and the family have made frequent visits for short breaks to a lovely little caravan park in Northamptonshire, "Overstone".
It's quite close for us but makes a nice change and is 100% enjoyable every time we go there, though in my case it's mostly the great fishing I enjoy.
You can find Overstone caravan park in the village of Overstone, situated between Wellingborough and Northampton approximately 4 miles from the A14 making it easily accessible from almost every where.
This quaint little site offers an outdoor swimming pool along with a pitch & put course and the usual play park area's for the kiddie's including a mini BMX track. On site there is a launderette, post office, cafe, hair dressers and a general store so you don't have to worry about running out of anything. There is also a club...

Riviera Bay Holiday Park, Brixham, Devon
Advantages: Active pensioners and seagulls will love it
Disadvantages: No help if you're disabled
...hundred yards from the entertainment complex. Most nights as we lay there trying to get to sleep, we had to endure the rowdy sounds coming from the nightclub, which went on until after midnight. This would then be accompanied by the drunken sounds of people tottering out of the club and walking directly past our window, laughing and singing noisily. Too bad if you wanted an early night, especially as we weren't getting much sleep on the uncomfortable beds.
We've stayed at several caravan parks in Devon over the years, and have also stayed at the sister sites owned by the same company that runs Riviera Bay. We've never had complaints before about any of them. But the basic accommodation on this site can't be recommended. Most of the people staying in the cheaper chalets were elderly, perhaps because these are a cheap option if you have to...

...Every year my family and I take a holiday usually we land up in Devon as there is so much to do. We have stayed at a few holiday parks but the one we have used over and over again is Welcome Holiday Park in Dawlish.

Penstowe Caravan park
Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: Site Management
...Do you want a clean, well run, well staffed caravan / campsite in beautiful Cornwall. If the answer is yes then this is most definitely NOT the place for you and your family. Penstowe has no atmosphere and no staff, don't get me wrong there is a woman that can be occasionally found, but everyday you are greeted by a hand written sign on the office/reception door telling you of her unavailability. Oh, but I mustn't forget her husband who is on hand to shout at you if you come looking for any assistance. The toilet/shower block was not cleaned for three days. And I don't mean not cleaned properly, I mean NOT CLEANED! False nails sitting beside one of the sinks for this period was testament to this. Build up of human excrement, rubbish and bugs provided further proof. The fact there was no soap provided in the ladies toilets for these three...

Salcombe Regis Caravan Park
Advantages: Spacious, clean, excellent for touring
Disadvantages: Not directly by the sea, not a huge amount for children to do.
...Salcombe Regis Caravan Park is the nearest site to the small resort of Sodmouth.
It is a very spacious site and the caravans are sited around the perimeter of a large field. The camping field is also large with sizeable pitches. The site is kept beutifully clean and tidy. It is a short walk to the village of Salcombe Regis and about 30 mins across the fields to the sea. Also within walking distance is the famous Donkey Sanctuary (free admission!)
This is an excellent site for visting the nearby resorts of Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Seaton, Branscombe, and Lyme Regis, and the inland towns of Honiton, Axminster and Exeter....

Penstowe. Manor House Holiday Park..Cornwall
Advantages: Friendly, Quiet, Good Sports Fascilities.Nr Bude.
Disadvantages: You do need a car. Chalets can Vary.
...pool with wave machine and slide. Harlequin with bowling alley, climbing areas, and cafe.
Nearby are theme parks, ideal for a dayout with the children.
The Park is lit and has Security Cameras. There is a shop on site with washing machines nearby. There are many trees around and between the chalets are green lawns, where the children can play. There are tennis courts outside and a small childrens play area.
There is also an outdoor pool, if that is your preference.
Next to this holiday chalet site, there is an independant caravan park built just three years ago. The land belonged to Penstowe originally but has been sold to the new owners for the caravan site. Holiday makers there are able to use Penstowe sports fascilities and restaurant, for a family charge of about £50. per week.
To sum this up, I would say it is...
