Advantages: Brand new caravans that are well kept.
Disadvantages: As with all caravans a little on the pricey side.

...Apologies in advance, this is long review! After seeing a report on my local news the other night I thought I would review the one thing that, over the last 5-6 years of my life has been a constant, come rain or shine, recession or boom we have visited and stayed at this particular place as our holiday home of choice. The particular report I was referring to earlier, was the fact that out of all the poor companies in my local area (I live in the Midlands, we are one of the worst hit areas for redundancy?s), the caravan companies were flourishing. Now as I have already stated, we (myself, my husband, my two children and various other members of my family, depending who is available on holiday week!), have stayed at this particular caravan site for a while. Cartwheels at the Caravan in Yazd

Advantages: Plenty of space and surprisingly quiet setting
Disadvantages: Outside the town so you'll need transport to get around

...On a group tour of Iran in 2006 we spent two nights at the Caravan, a large hotel located a few miles outside the ancient desert city of Yazd. The Caravan is close to a large but surprisingly quiet road and takes the form of lots of small white single-storey apartment-style chalets set back from the road and surrounded by gardens. Ciao have done a great job of finding a good photo that shows what these look like. There was nothing else anywhere near the hotel so be aware that once you are there, unless you have transport, there's nothing to see or do nearby. Pulling off the highway from the airport, the driveway brought us past a large building that housed the reception, the restaurant and other shared facilities and then to the accommodation area. Our tour leader hopped off the bus to go and get the keys whilst we unloaded the bags...

Review of Caravan Hotel, Yazd, Iran

Caravanning with a difference!

Advantages: plenty to do on and off site, entertainment every night
Disadvantages: amusements were expensive

...Perran Sands Haven Site was ideally situated in Perranporth, Cornwall and had its own beach - accessed from a steep hill and had no car park near the beach. However, it was excellent for body-boarding and we enjoyed this for several hours. The only down side was the climb back up !! There was no life guard - but we did got out of season, so this was to be expected. The caravan we used was a Silver type which came with duvets, microwave and had a gas fire in the living room. The kitchenette was quite big and we had 2 toilets, 1 with a shower and the caravan had 3 bedrooms. On site was 2 amusement arcades, a Burger King, 3 or 4 bars (we did not visit the Surf Rider to see what it contained), a mini supermarket and Crazy Golf and a ride which was similar to bumper cars but span you round and had lasers on it, which cost £1 a go...

Review of Perran Sands Haven Caravan Site

Graeanfryn Farm in North Wales - camping and caravanning site

Advantages: Not too far from Portmadog, sandy beaches around 1 mile away, prices quite reasonable
Disadvantages: Toilets/showers could have been a lot cleaner, terrible Welsh weather, not much space on site

...Graeanfryn Farm I stayed here earlier this Summer holiday with my family. We had just bought a new touring caravan and this was the first place we tried it out in. We have been to many camping sites before we bought our new caravan, staying in a tent, but after freezing half to death and getting soaking wet (as well as having to listen to the whole sites arguments/ snoring etc through the thin fabric walls of a tent) too many times in our "waterproof" tent we'd just had enough, and decided a caravan would be better to suit our needs. Location Graeanfryn Farm is in Nefyn, we had stayed in this town before and that is why we choose to come to this site for our first trip in the caravan - if anything went wrong at least we knew the town quite well and wouldn't get lost on our way back home and also its a lovely place...

Overstone Caravan Park

Advantages: Very freindly clean site with good amenities.
Disadvantages: Only opens on a seasonal basis.

...For the past couple of years myself and the family have made frequent visits for short breaks to a lovely little caravan park in Northamptonshire, "Overstone". It's quite close for us but makes a nice change and is 100% enjoyable every time we go there, though in my case it's mostly the great fishing I enjoy. You can find Overstone caravan park in the village of Overstone, situated between Wellingborough and Northampton approximately 4 miles from the A14 making it easily accessible from almost every where. This quaint little site offers an outdoor swimming pool along with a pitch & put course and the usual play park area's for the kiddie's including a mini BMX track. On site there is a launderette, post office, cafe, hair dressers and a general store so you don't have to worry about running out of anything. There is also a club...

Two Caravans, Nine Immigrant Workers and One Dog

Advantages: Thought provoking, both funny and serious, compelling plot
Disadvantages: A couple of contrived moments in the plot, some inconsistencies in the narrative

Two of the three had read Marina Lewycka's very popular, critically acclaimed and award winning debut novel 'A Short History of Tractors in Ukranian' and had thoroughly enjoyed it. One of the three had started to read 'Two Caravans' and the rest of us decided that this would be a good first book for a 'book club' (between you and me, this is a means for us to legitimise a regular girl's evening down the pub). 'Tractors' (if I may use this as short hand) has 'its extraordinary distinctiveness, wit and heart' to thank for its success. ...Do you want a clean, well run, well staffed caravan / campsite in beautiful Cornwall. If the answer is yes then this is most definitely NOT the place for you and your family. Penstowe has no atmosphere and no staff, don't get me wrong there is a woman that can be occasionally found, but everyday you are greeted by a hand written sign on the office/reception door telling you of her unavailability. Oh, but I mustn't forget her husband who is on hand to shout at you if you come looking for any assistance.The toilet/shower block was not cleaned for three days. And I don't mean not cleaned properly, I mean NOT CLEANED! False nails sitting beside one of the sinks for this period was testament to this. Build up of human excrement, rubbish and bugs provided further proof. The fact there was no soap provided in the ladies toilets for these three...

Ashurst Caravan and Camping site

Advantages: Lovely surroundings
Disadvantages: Quite pricey compared to other sites

...I have used tis campsite for the last three years as it always provides what we need. It is very easy to find just off the M271, definitely best to get to it from this side, not to go through the town of lyndhurst first as it is always very crowded in this very small town and will take ages to get through. Ashurst train station is also only a 5 minute walk away so you could get the train too. It takes both caravans and tents. You must always book for bank holiday weekend which you can conveniently do online. They changed the rules slightly this year which was a bit cheeky, it is now a four night minimum over the bank holiday but it turned out we quite liked the extra night. If you intend to use the site a lot it is also worth joining the forestry commision club as there are many sites they own and joining gives you a small discount...

Psychadelic caravan holidays

Advantages: Arse kicking bluesy hard rock

Wino is one of the best singers of his generation, brilliantly combining a sorrowful tone well suited to doom metal, with a rough blues singer ambience which gives everything he touches a thoroughly emotional feel. Cosmic Artifact is one of the highlights of this CD. While stylistically this is essentially identical to the rest of the album, the double tracking of the guitars is used well, the riff is strong and not so slow as to be monotonous, and the lyrics are well written with a positive message. Indeed, if anything separates Spirit Caravan from the doom crowd, it is the fact that they are often fairly upbeat about things. ...can be equally as cool. For instance rockclimbing holiday camps, or kayaking trips down river- stopping off to camp in a random field every night. The possibilities are endless. This brings me on to my next point about caravan sights. In my opinion who on earth would want to participate in this kind of activity? Camping despite its basic living style and poor image, I have managed to legitimise. But going on holiday to a caravan sight is just pointless. For a start these holidays are damned expensive. One could pay for a family holiday apartment for a whole week, this for the same price as a family caravan plot for the same period of time! It beats me why anyone would want to pay his or her hard-earned money to sleep in the armpit of someone else for a whole week.
