A Sophisticated Stay in Cardiff

...As you may know by know, I?m always up for a bargain or a free holiday. So when my boyfriend got a free hotel voucher (due to a muck-up on one of his bills) we thought we?d make a weekend of it and have a mini city break. Living in the South our first choice was London, but looking through the list of available hotels we were allowed to choose from somewhere else stood out. Neither of us had ever been to Cardiff and we figured that we were close enough to get there by car and it was be a good excuse to suss it out. Our first choice was the Hilton hotel, but we were offered the Novotel. However, on visiting the city centre and seeing the Hilton from the outside I think I prefer the Novotel now anyway! ~~Location, Location, Location~~ Location is a pretty important factor in choosing a hotel and the Novotel won?t be for everyone...

Cardiff City Centre - Shopping

Advantages: Wide variety of shops - a large amuont under cover
Disadvantages: Parking costs

...Having lived here all my life, I have seen Cardiff grow from a small city in the '70's to a major shopping centre over the last 30 years, and it has certainly benefitted from all the inward investment and new development that comes with this recognition. Travelling into Cardiff City centre by car is not too much of a problem traffic wise compared to other major cities in the UK. There are the usual rush hour delays on weekdays, but these are usually resolved by about 9.30, and on weekends the roads stay fairly clear, except when there are rugby internationals at the impressive new Millennium Stadium. Concerts really aren't a problem as they are usually held in the evenings after the shops have closed. Of course, Christmas causes the biggest problems! No major problems with parking - the city has numerous multi-storey car parks...

My Stay In Holiday Inn , Cardiff

...Recently I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Cardiff. This was my third stay. What an ideal place to stay. Situated next door to the Millenium Stadium ; bedroom window overlooking the stadium. 10 Minute walk from the railway station. On arrival we were checked in efficiently and professionally. Our room was cleaned to a high standard and we felt very welcome. The following day we had to leave early as we had an appointment and therefore I enquired in the restaurant about what time breakfast was. I was told breakfast began at 7:30 because it was Sunday. I asked if we could have breakfast earlier. In reply I was asked what time we would like to have breakfast. I couldn't believe it , having stayed in places where people were less helpful! ...Well i first went to the CIA in Cardiff when i was around 14 years old so a few years ago now. i went to see boyzone there and rememebr thinking omg this place is huge and i was really spun out by it all, it was my first concert and i was just amazed by the atmosphere there. So it wasnt until returning some years later to see westlife twice and blue that my opinion changed! Firstly the CIA is smack bang in the middle of cardiff and is very very easy to get to, it is a short walk from the central train station and is situated around the corner from a NCP car park which is handy but is expensive and you can be queing up for ages to pay for you ticket and then you have to get out of the car park but hey thats another story.(Car parking fees are costly in cardiff generally)! Holidaying at the Holiday Inn

...We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Cardiff City Centre recently. The reason for our visit was because I was auditioning for the X Factor (again! - I didn't get through :( ) . We chose Holiday Inn because we had stayed at the hotel on many occasions before and were pleased with it and it's value for money. The hotel is located right by the Millenium Stadium. This was convenient for us because the auditioning for the X Factor took place in the Stadium. The hotel is a short 5 minute walk from the high street which was good! Our room was located overlooking the Stadium's car park. This was good because this was where the queuing for the auditions took place. ...Nottingham has two large shopping centres, the Broadmarsh Centre and the Victoria Centre, situated at opposite ends of the city centre .The Victoria Centre is the bigger of the two, containing 120 shops (not counting all the various stalls in the market area.) Getting there is easy - if you drive, there's parking for over 2700 cars . If you don't drive, don't worry - almost all the Nottingham City Transport buses stop either directly outside the Victoria Centre, or within a few minutes walk of it . Other bus companies from slightly further afield, such as Trent Barton , terminate at the local coach station within the centre . If you're walking, the centre is signposted from various points in the city centre, and at the end of the day when you're weighed down with shopping, there are 2 taxi ranks directly outside the main entrance...
