...carlsberg export is in my opinion by far the best drink of the danish breweries franchise, there are other drinks like carlsberg special brew and carlsberg premium, but they are not a touch on export, The UK's Most Popular pub chain even stopped supplying Rival Drinks Franchise Carling and decided to supply carslberg on a seven year exlusive deal, in no way am i putting down carling as in my opinion they are equally great, and i would recommend both brands but on the subject export is a highly popular drink for a reason, nice taste, can be used for a social event a casual drink or even for a big party, i would definetly recommend this to anyone out there looking for a decent lager to drink The Taste Carslberg has always just been an average lager, and people say that lager will always be lager just in a different tin, well to be...

Export beats it's brother

Advantages: Beats it's brother in everyway to be an average drink
Disadvantages: It's still only an average drink

...Yesterday it was plain old Carlsberg tonight it's the export, courtesy of my mother who's sharing her booze whilst we have some Chinese food she's got from Asda. So again, lets do the intelligent thing and...review it. Carlsberg are one of the cheaper lagers, this ones a bit more pricey than the normal ?green can version?, infact talking about the colours, this one inverts the normal can and is silver with a green trim. This time the can comes in the smaller and more average size of 440ml, and is 5% ABV so a far stronger drink than it's little weak brother (3.8%). The company we're first brought to my attention as being sponsors of Liverpools shirts when I was little but unbeknownst to me they were an alcoholic beverage manufacturer as opposed to just a name on a football shirt (I was young). Advantages: Nice and cheap at the moment
Disadvantages: Not Quite what it says on the tin !

NOT SO SPECIAL

Advantages: Um...err....
Disadvantages: It stinks

...Preferred tipple of the downtrodden...or, more accurately, the down-and-out, Carlsberg Special Brew has got a bit of a reputation. Nowadays, Buckie seems to be the choice of the young juice-head, and CSB is seen as more of an old dosser's drink. Is this fair? Probably. ...After a recent opinion I wrote concerning Carlsberg PREMIUM Lager, it was suggested to me that Carlsberg EXPORT Lager was quite a decent beer. Now that's the sort of challenge this site could use more of. Advantages: Gets you drunk cheaply
Disadvantages: Tastes vile

...Carlsberg, with its origins in Denmark, is the world’s second biggest brewer. Its ‘Special Brew’ is the biggest selling ‘super strength’ beer in the UK. It is a whopping 9% alcohol by volume. I once drank two whole cans of the stuff and had to be taken to bed by my very bored friends because my conversation was unintelligible and I kept vomiting in the waste paper basket. Park life!

Advantages: Cheapest night you'll ever have!
Disadvantages: Everything else!

...This stuff might as well be served at BP forecourts across the country .. you probably could actually run your car off the stuff. I was introduced to Carlsberg Special Brew a few years ago now, and it's fair to say that it doen't take pride of place in my fridge. The Special Brew was first produced in 1950, to commemorate a visit by Winston Churchill to Copenhagen. He was seen as a hero by the Danes, for defeating the Nazi's in the second world war, a few years previously. Known as 'Easter Beer' in Denmark, production of the stuff was introduced to the UK a few years later out of Northampton. I don't often drink Special Brew, but when I do, I always know about it the following morning. Advantages: Readily available, refreshing
Disadvantages: Pretty ordinary

...Picture the scene, It's Saturday afternoon and I'm helping a friend who's building a fence in his garden. When I say helping, I mean supervising in a know-it-all sort of way. It was fairly warm and it came to the point when his partner asked if I'd like a drink. Best premium strength lager on the go

Advantages: Tastes like an angel weeping on your tongue
Disadvantages: I know you pay for quality but at nearly a quid a can it burns quite a large hole in you pocket

...It's amazing how different Carlsberg and Carlsberg export actually taste. They are two premium strength beers made obviously, by the same company. But in the taste department there is really only one winner. You could be suckered into thinking that as they are both Carlsberg beers, then they would probably taste very similar. This however, is definately not the case. I was never a big fan of the original Carlsberg because it always tasted a little on the cheap and nasty side (a bit like skol) rather bland in flavour and very fizzy. Probably the best lager in the world? I think not. However, with the Carlsberg export variety the taste is refreshing, crisp and clean and extremely palatable. It contains just the right amount of gas and is therefore, not too fizzy and not too flat. It's no wonder the danes always kick off in...

Not for me.

Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: horrid taste, or no taste.

...I am quite sure that many of the Ciao readers know me by now as a miser. The sad fact is they are right. (but I do learn from my mistakes) And dog gone it I think I’ve put this beer in the wrong category. I couldn’t find it in the standard lagers. Oh, what the hell I’ve started writing so I’ll carry on. As you can most probably tell I had to sample a few Carlsbergs before I could give my honest opinion. One of my favourite lagers is Stella Artois, but Sainsburys didn’t have it on promotion this week, so as you do (miser in my case) I looked for the next best thing. What did I find? Carlesberg. I can’t give you the price of it, because I have thrown my receipt away. Having said that it must of been cheaper than £16 for 24 cans or I wouldn’t have bought it. That only works out...
