...I've always had naturally wavy but frizzy hair and fancied trying to coax it in to beautiful loose curls. I saw the Carmen Angel Curls product on Boots.com for the bargain price of £14.99 and decided to give it a go. I thought this was a very good price and a lot cheaper than other curling tongs but I think it's because they're really aimed at younger girls (13-16) who wouldn't be able to afford more expensive tongs. Although they're aimed at the younger market (with the bright packaging and pink handle) they're just as good as other 'grown-up' tongs I've used before - if not better! I really wanted a lovely head of curly hair for a friends party and sat myself down in front of my dressing table with my Angel Curls in hand. ...I first bought these curling tongs about three years ago. I had been looking for some decent tongs for a while as I was fed up of using hair rollers. I was instantly attracted to the carmen girls tongs; probably due to the fact that they were very pink and girly! I had read about them before though and I knew that Carmen was a good make. They looked fairly easy to use and they were a good price too, I think they were around £15. The tongs came in a rectangular black box with a picture of a girl who has used the tongs; there are also some small diagrams which show you how to use them. Angel Curls - Pretty in Pink!

Advantages: No strain on the purse strings! It's pink!
Disadvantages: Fiddly to use on hair at the back (but it's the same with similar appliances)

Advantages: Gives a great natural curl to straight hair.
Disadvantages: Lasts longer if you use products to keep the curl and the name is really tacky!!!

I was down at Argos the very next day getting one for me and one for a friend!! Carmengirls Angel Curls is an easy to use hair curler which creates natural looking ringlet style curls for short to long hair. ...Originally created for teenagers it soon became appart to older girlies like myself that this was a great alternative to hard to use tongs budget busting tongs. At around £15 they are cheap, but boy are they reliable, I've had mine for over three years now and apart from some of the ceramic coating chipping off they still work like a dream. OK the design is cleary one for teeny boppers and they do look cheap and tacky but you do get perfect curls! The curl is a spiral curl however if brushed you get a kind of 1940's hollywood glamour type curl going on, shake slighty and you get a full head of springy curls and my personal fave... let it drop a bit then hairspray and put a bit of wax on and you get hippy style curls. There isn't a curl you can't make with these. Also they are so simple, it's genius, one button to turn on and off...

Most effective curling tong I've ever tried

Advantages: Really easy to use, almost impossible to burn yourself
Disadvantages: Have to do a small amount of hair at a time and can leave kinks.

...I bought these curling tongs about a year ago in a sale for about £10, and although I haven't had the time to use them very regularly, my experience of them has been very good. Although I now find the design a bit too pink and little-girly, they work better than the vidal sassoon curling tong i had before them. It is difficult to do the back of your head without getting kinks so I tend to get someone else to do that if I have the time, but that goes for any curling tong. The main advantage from my point of view is that the barrel has a plastic spiral around it; this especially benefits people like me as I am notoriously good at burning my head. Lovely Loose Curls

Advantages: very easy to use and creates loose curls
Disadvantages: they burn your head if you keep them on too long, curls don't stay in very long

...I have given these Angel Curls (made by Carmen Girls) a four star rating because they are easy too use, light weight and give you extremly good curls wheather you have wavy, frizzy or straight hair. I am very pleased with my Angel Curls because they curl really well and I would pay double the amount for them. A bonus is that it looks so cool and girly-definately not for anybody with really short hair! However, be careful if you're planning to use these before going out for a long time (for about 4 hours and any longer) because the curls will fade away, no matter how much hair spray you put on them. It really depends. If it's just for a meal that would be fine as you'd only be out for a short period of time.
