Carmen Angel Curls

Advantages: The steam setting helps set the curl and the size of the curl is perfect
Disadvantages: A bit difficult to get the hang of to start with , especially if looking in the mirror!

...I've always had naturally wavy but frizzy hair and fancied trying to coax it in to beautiful loose curls. I saw the Carmen Angel Curls product on Boots.com for the bargain price of £14.99 and decided to give it a go. I thought this was a very good price and a lot cheaper than other curling tongs but I think it's because they're really aimed at younger girls (13-16) who wouldn't be able to afford more expensive tongs. Although they're aimed at the younger market (with the bright packaging and pink handle) they're just as good as other 'grown-up' tongs I've used before - if not better! I really wanted a lovely head of curly hair for a friends party and sat myself down in front of my dressing table with my Angel Curls in hand. ...I first bought these curling tongs about three years ago. I had been looking for some decent tongs for a while as I was fed up of using hair rollers. I was instantly attracted to the carmen girls tongs; probably due to the fact that they were very pink and girly! I had read about them before though and I knew that Carmen was a good make. They looked fairly easy to use and they were a good price too, I think they were around £15. The tongs came in a rectangular black box with a picture of a girl who has used the tongs; there are also some small diagrams which show you how to use them. Luckily inside the box there were some detailed instructions on how to use them. Angel Curls - Pretty in Pink!

The design being so girly, will make any preteen/mid-teenage girl very happy; it's ideal for a present because it's good value for money aswell. It's RRP is £19.99, but it can be bought off the highstreet at £14.00, and I've evwen seen an Ebay listing for it for £4.00! The curls created are angel curls - ringlets. But aside from being a very decorative and trendy looking peice to buy for someone, practically it's not too good for curling all hair types. Performance wise, the curler doesn't reach salon quality high heats, but then it's not priced at that level either. I was down at Argos the very next day getting one for me and one for a friend!! Carmengirls Angel Curls is an easy to use hair curler which creates natural looking ringlet style curls for short to long hair. ...Originally created for teenagers it soon became appart to older girlies like myself that this was a great alternative to hard to use tongs budget busting tongs. At around £15 they are cheap, but boy are they reliable, I've had mine for over three years now and apart from some of the ceramic coating chipping off they still work like a dream. OK the design is cleary one for teeny boppers and they do look cheap and tacky but you do get perfect curls! The curl is a spiral curl however if brushed you get a kind of 1940's hollywood glamour type curl going on, shake slighty and you get a full head of springy curls and my personal fave... let it drop a bit then hairspray and put a bit of wax on and you get hippy style curls. There isn't a curl you can't make with these. Also they are so simple, it's genius, one button to turn on and off...
